If you can't take doxy or the doxy that is suppose to be easier on your stomach what can you take instead?

Even if I eat when I take it then I still get sick with it.

Did you talk to your doctor about it?

Doxy is one of the tetracycline family that also includes tetracycline and minocycline. I believe all are pretty effective at treating early lyme. For later stages of lyme, doxy is 5 times more fat soluble and penetrates to places tetracycline won't, such as across the blood brain barrier. Minocycline is twice as soluble as doxy, but has additional side effects.

There are a bunch of other abx that can be prescribed; amoxycillin is the traditional "other" choice for early lyme (other than doxy). The drawback to it is that the doses must be taken on time to keep the blood level high enough to keep lyme from replicating. You can take doxy once a day (twice is more common) but have to take amoxycillin every 8 hours.

Download http://ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf and read it from start to finish. Provide a copy to your doctor. You have options other than doxy:)

Amoxycillin with probinecid. That's how I got rid of my lyme disease.

When you take the doxy, take it with a full meal. Eat half the meal, then take the doxy, then eat the other half of the meal.

A snack is often not enough to prevent stomach trouble with doxy.

Yes what TF said. That is how I take doxy. Half way through a big meal.

talk to your doctor...there is now an extended release doxy that is easy on the stomach...unfortunately-very expensive also...
