Morning,
I have a question regarding my brain fog. Over the weekend ate a lot of food with sugar, wheat etc.

Doe you think that contriubted to my nagging brain fog which has returned with a vegence this morning?

Look forward to hearing from the experts. [Big Grin]

Eating wheat or other gluten gives me brain fog. One time I had some accidently in a restaurant and couldn't even remember how much money to get out of my wallet to pay!

Jkmom,
thanks. That might be what happened to me. I'm going to see as the food is gone from my body if that makes a difference in my symptoms.

Have a good day. JKV

Certainly can fog you up.

Yes, I definitely get a wheat hangover. I think if a person is sensitive, they need to look at delayed reactions as well as immediate ones.

For instance, soy makes me dopey as soon as I drink it. Wheat makes me dopey the next day. And cheese makes me angry for a week!!

Good luck in your sleuthing.

massmanand Mazou,
Thanks for the insight. Definitely something to think about.

I was really good early on with not eating any wheat and gluten. Lately have gotten laxed with what I eat.

yes, that can happen.

2 years ago I had food sensitivity testing and did a 5 month long eliminatiion diet.

I was amazed at what symptoms different foods contributed to....especially any form of processed sugar (glucose, dextrose, corn syrup, evaporated cane juice, etc), gluten, milk, etc.

Symptoms vary from person to person, but chronic infections lead to sensitivities....and we often crave what makes us feel the worst.

Wow, this sounds like me! I was good for a short time avoiding all gluten and sugar but I have lost so much weight that I figured I would add in a "little" from time to time. BIG MISTAKE! My brain fog and depression is so out of control now and I think it's the food I have been eating. UGH! We can't win!

Jenny76,
I hear you. I was so good and like you lost 25lbs due to the restricted diet. Big mistake as well.

I ate a huge sub and had some very high sugar wine last evening and today...wow,,,what's my name? Not debilitating, just foggy city.

Just FYI while you are figuring this out, my gluten brain fog lasts for a couple of weeks. It gets better over time, but I am not myself for a couple of weeks.

I agree with tutu - candida loves sugar and will grow quickly and cause major brain fog.

The other possibility is reactive hypoglycemia. Causes massive brain fog. Your blood sugars will be very low about 4 hours after eating. It is hard to detect with testing but it is likely common in people with our conditions.

I believe that spirochetes convert sugar into alcohol. That would give a high-sugar wine a DOUBLED detrimental effect on a Lymie brain. [shake]

I also believe that wine AND sugar both encourage yeast overgrowth.

Holiday celebrating can really do a number on us. I've found that it's just not worth the price we pay. [shake]

It also took at least 10 days for my symptoms to lessen when eliminating foods.

With a gluten and sugar restricted diet, I find it helps to eat lots of FATS!! YUMMY!!

My favorite is coconut cream concentrate--tastes like the inside of a mounds bar, is 70% coconut oil, and is very low glycemic index.

Butter is also good--lots on vegetables. Olive oil stir-fry...

I'm going to the kitchen now!!

Love,

Cass A
