Hi, along with all of my other symptoms, I am recently worried about a whole bunch ( about 15) of skin tags that recently appeared on my neck. I also get little red spots under my skin that usually go after a little while. There are also a few moles that seems to be blood filled. sorta weird, I know. I saw in a previous post that there was once a poll on people with lyme and skin tags, is there some way i can search for this? Thank you
Colin

I've read that skin tags are associated with an insulin problem.

Carol

p.s. Just remembered...insulin resistance.

From medicinenet.com:

"Skin tags are a benign condition and not directly associated with any other major medical conditions, since tags are commonly found on healthy people."

More here:

I've had some on my neck for as long as I can remember.

I think its hormonal. Many pregnant women get them

and they go away after giving birth. It is common

in them and can only be attributed to hormones so

far. But I have had them come and go with both lyme

and pregnancy so who knows?

Read up snd research Bartonella. Are you being treated for Bart?

Has your LLMD gone over your body for moles, tags, raised bumps, crusty bumps and also veins that are sideways not up and down? Bring it up to your LLMD.

I'm not a doctor only sharing my own bartonella issues. [Smile]

Skin tags are associated with Insulin Resistance or aka Metabolic Syndrome. The overproduction of insulin causes skin tags, darkened skin called Acanthrosis Nigricans and goes hand in hand with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in women.

I have insulin resistance and there is a direct correlation with the higher my insulin rate, the more tags I develop.

Thank you so much for your replies, they are very helpful. I was worried when reading something about cancer causing them, but realize there is not much evidence behind that claim. Elaine, I have yet to find a llmd because i live in Canada, but am currently waiting for a ELISA test, IgG, IgA, IgM, EBV and mycoplasma test? with an ID. If any comes back abnormal I will travel to the US to a LLMD as I know ID will most likely not treat me properly. I do actually have moles, tags, raised white bumps, and one big crusty bump on me, all which appeared within the last month or so, but no sideways veins. The moles sometimes get blood in them, which is weird. I got about 15 skin tags on my neck, about 5 weird bumps throughout my body, a few moles, and a few red dots under my skin that go away after a few days or turn in to a pimple looking thing. I'll keep bart in mind when I talk next, thanks so much!

If you're sure they are skin tags you can tie a piece of thread around them (tightly) to cut off blood supply and they will fall off in a few days. If you don't mind a quick pinch/pain and blood you can just cut them with sterilized nail clippers or small scissors and disinfect after... I just do the thread trick and it works great.

bigz123 - don't know about the skin tags.

Check www.canlyme.com then click on the left-side where it says "WorldWide Support Finder". Maybe they can help you find a doctor in Canada.

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who have neurological problems from Lyme and cannot read large blocks of text. Thanks.

use wart remover. Once morning and night. Dries them up

I noticed I developed quite a few of these little skin tags after getting lyme and possibly bart.

For me they sometimes itch, esp if off abx. I kinda think mine are bart. I hope treatment gets rid of them. I hate these things!

I think I'll try the string thing for a couple of the bigger ones.

I had several that popped up on my neck after becoming ill. Several years back I was doing parasite tx and noticed they had disappeared.

I think a lot of things can cause them - virus' and bart are two I know of.

Like someone said you can just tie a bit of dental floss around the base and it will fall off. Saw this on Dr. Oz. My husband went to the dermatologist to have some moles and skin tags removed and that is what he told him too. He had one under his arm for years.

We get all kinds of skin "things" with these infections.
