I did 11 months of Flagyl with no problems. So my LLMD figured it was time to switch up my abx so that I didn't develop abx resistance to Flagyl.

I started Tindamax a little over a week ago.

I was already herxing from my other abx at the time (Rocephin, doxy, plaquenil, and cipro), so I realize in hindsight that it was kind of stupid to start the Tindamax in the middle of a herx.

But I did, so I've got to make the best of things.

A few days after I started the Tindamax, I became an emotional wreck. I spent much of the past few days crying with little provocation (I cry seldomly, so this is very strange for me).

I've been depressed and angst-ridden. Makes me feel like a goth teenager again. LOL.

Anyway, I've heard other people report very emotional herxes to Flagyl. So I'm guessing that the Tindamax is provoking a similar reaction.

Has anyone else been through this?

Also, advice for getting through the worst of it? (So far I've been watching comedies and distracting myself.)

Thanks,
AnnaL

Its not unusual to have crying episodes or any othr type of emotional, cognitive difficulites if treating for lyme. If the baterial presence is heavy in the brain, cns, then the toxic load is going to affect that area of the brain.

Keep a positive spin and realize that you're wiping out the crud stuck in your head. If the herxing affects are too much, then try herx counters to reduce the load till you can handle it better. But try to get through it best you can.

If you want to cry, cry. Crying is a natural cleaning of the emotional part of your mind, eyes, etc. When your cup runeth over, the tears will flow.. ok?

Try glutathione for herxes...it is a great way to clear out those neurotoxins.

I also tend to get very emotional and cry easily when herxing.

When this happens I try to distract myself. Listen to happy music, watch a funny movie or tv show, read, talk it out with God.

My pets also give me a lot of comfort and entertainment. They seem to know when i'm feeling down and do a good job making me feel better.

Remind yourself that this is just a temporary state of mind. Try not to dwell on the negative thoughts and feelings. Know that these things will pass. You will make it through the herx and you'll feel better again.

I've been on Tindamax as part of combination abx therapy. I have not been wildly emotional, but I do cry at the drop of a dime lately.

Bactrim, which I no longer take, previously caused more dramatic emotional Herxes in me. It also made me feel like an angst-ridden teen again!
