I am sorry to ask another question about lyme and hair loss, but it is really freaking me out.

A brief recap - my hair suddenly began to fall out. My blood work showed that I had positive bands 58 and 41.

My doctor began treatment for lyme, despite no fatigue, joint pain, etc. I have 2 questions:

1) Could this be something other than lyme? Wouldn't 2 bands mean something is wrong?

2)I finished my doxy treatment. Still no other lyme symptoms. For thos who had hair loss with lyme, how did you start seeing results?

My hair has not had a major shed (over 300 hairs) in over a week. The hair loss appears to be lessening a bit, but it is still coming out (varies in the amount each day).

Should I be concerned? How did you notice your hair loss recovery? For example, did it take weeks after treatment, days, etc. I am not sure how long I should wait for my hair to get back to normal.

Very scared that the lyme is not gone and also confused as to if I even have lyme.

And yes, I got my blood work at LabCorp (not a lyme friendly lab). But with the lack of other symptoms, I did not think the other lab would be beneficial since my doctor is treating me anyways with the 2 bands.

I've noted over the years that many of us do experience hair loss. Usually it is sudden... and scary... and it usually stops before it all falls out.

Check this out as a possibility, if ya want to. BTW- I am not a doctor.

There are some threads here about KPU. Do a search.

Some thoughts to give you an idea about the rabbit hole that gets developed when we become ill. The body isn't processing as well because the lyme devil has thrown the body's mineral balance off as a start. So we'll say your pushing out too much zinc, zinc is an important part of thyroid and liver function. Your also throwing out too much b6 an important vitamin for immune function. So, when these minerals go low functions in the body start to wane all together. Getting tested for zinc and b6 levels are important for general functioning. And you shouldn't supplement these without help from the doctor.

Become the expert and challenge the doctor to do tests that will help you determine or dispel an issue. Ensure your gut isn't leaking, or leaky gut syndrome. Do cleanses to lower body burden. Eat well! Ensure your drinking enough water and ensure it is hydrating water at that. Get as much exercise as you can handle.

I and my mother both have serious hair loss from Lyme.

For me it is cyclic... i lose hair (go almost bald on top) and it comes back, usually about four-six month cycles. It is always old hair that falls out and so i always have a 'fringe' of new growth around my forehead and face.

I have found nothing so far, that helps.

However, for the last six months i have been bathing once a week or so, with MMS (Miracle Mineral) in the bathwater and it has made my scalp and other skin feel so much better and some long-term weird bumps and things are clearing up.

Hats, scarves and the new trend to wide headbands are my fashion statement... lol

Blessings,

Thanks for the replies. So for those who have had hair loss only because of lyme (not medications or other disorders), when did you notice the stop?

Like I said, I finished treatment 5 days ago and my hair is still coming out. I am not sure if this is just lyme damaged hair that may take weeks to fix or if means treatment failure.

Again, this is my only symptom so I have nothing else to go on but my hair. I do not want to go on more antibiotics if I don't need them but I don't want to not be on antibiotics if I do need them.

So how long did it take for any of your hair to improve?

Any feedback would be so helpful. This is so scary.
