Tell me I am not the only one!

We went to a holiday party this past Saturday night and I let my guard down. I had two slices of tomato pie. My wife, every so often makes her famous mocha cheese cake. I had a big slice of that and it was heavenly. Oh boy, was it heaven.

I took extra probiotics that night.

Sunday it was back to strict eating.

Richie,

There was another thread that some one posted about
this too so I know you are not alone. Hey we all
cheat at times even if it is a cup of coffee.
Sounds like you are back on the right track now!

I have coffee (1 cup) every morning and my doctor said that is OK....but I am switching 100% to decaf. Just one cup with breakfast. I don't have fatigue issues so she isn't worried about my adrenals too much.

youi're still alive, right? Then cheat away! Life isn't worth living if you can't enjoy the simple pleasures once in awhile.

this disease takes away so much, I won't let it take away every last thing, otherwise, I might as well be dead!

I cheated from Thanksgiving to New Years and I'm not worried it will make me sicker or keep me from getting well. I think that is garbage.

Back on the wagon now. My New Years resolution was to eat healthier and lose 25 pounds. It will take time to get back in the swingof it, but I know I'll do it. And I will still cheat once in awhle, otherwise, I'll be bitter and angry!

Hope you enjoyed yourself and don't beat yourself up.

I didn't.

Hardest thing I've ever done.

Pumpkin pies, hot cocoa, gravy, mashed potatoes. OMG!

I avoided it all.

ohh, ho ho, honey, let me tell you, you were angelic compared to what I ate from X-mas to New years.

I ate an ENTIRE orange cake (gluten free, that counts right [Big Grin]

orange slices, bourbon balls, hershies kisses, pudding, white chocolate peppermint bars, egg nog, and a glass of champagne.

And I LOVED every minute of it. This diseaswe sucks, I have been in pain for 5 years now, and damn it, sometimes I am going to have my cake and wash it down with gin and tonic!

No ill effects on my end. But am back on healthy diet now.

I too must confess, I cheated from Thanksgiving to New Years. Now trying to get myself back into eating the right stuff again.....in moderation.

Stupid me, didn't think to add extra probiotics to try and counteract the sugar. Duh!

I cheated over the holidays including cheesecake, reese's peanut butter cups, chocolate, vodka on two occaisons, 3 pieces of sugarless gum (with aspartame), stayed up late on many occaisions, slept poorly and did lots of physical labor packing and painting.

I paid the price but the symptom flare seemed to pass relatively quickly. Whew.

Well, I have avoided alcohol for two years as I know it is one of the worst things you can put in your body if you have Lyme or any immune system issues.

I feel like I have cheated lots less than everyone else, LOL!

I am back on the good diet wagon though. Organic chicken chili tonight with a large salad. [Big Grin]

Richedie,
Why is alcohol one of the worst things you can put in your body if you have Lyme?

I had a glass and a half of champagne on New Year's day and was totally plastered --then the body pain started the next day and lasted for 3 days.

???

Your body treats alcohol like sugar, more than most foods.

Also, it robs glutathione from cells.

Your immune system relies heavily on glutathione! Take glutathione from your cells and you are punching holes in your immune system. Alcohol here and there may not be a big issue for the average person, but for a person with a compromised immune system like those with Lyme.......another story all together.

is glutathion something we should be taking as a supplement? is it even available in a supplement?

Looks like I'll be switching to pomogranate juice!!

Johnny,

Glutathione can be taken as a supplement and it
is great for detox. Most of us our low in this.
Oral Glut. is not readily absorbed and neither are the transdermal patches or creams. The best form to take it in is IV push but it can be expensive too. Also you can take things like 100% undenatured whey protein (like a shake mix) to help stimulate your body to make more Glut.

100% undenatured whey protein and raw asparagus can help.
