thanks aheah of time Posted by seekhelp (Member # 15067) on :
All my blood tests are perfectly normal with regards to anemia. My ID doc says I have Babesia though.

I tested + for Babesia. My initial labs indicated extremely low ferritin levels. TS

I never became anemic, but had babs microti and duncani.
Was very pale and fatigued though.
Am I wrong here, I'm thinking we started babs treatment around the same time, way back when?
Have you relapsed?
Sorry to hear you are not feeling so well, cactus

I am retesting for Babesia in a few weeks.
My ferritin is very low as well, at a 5.
Have your ferritin levels come up since treating or is it too soon to tell.

I treated with iron supps for 6 months. If I recall, I was at a 3 intitially, very low. After about 6 months it was significantly raised, at a normal level (don't remember exactly the number).
I have not been on iron supps in over a year. However, my iron levels have not been checked since ceasing the supps. I guess it's time to re-check to see where I'm at....TS

Ferritin is a six Iron is 22 RBC- recently are low too.
not sure if it is from Babs. The Dr said I am mildly anemic.

Thanks. Did you notice an improvement on iron supps?
Definately get it checked and you may need a maintenence dose, esp if female and pre-menopausal.

Kitty,
Don't really know about improvement on iron supps as I was so, so sick with so many Lyme and co-infection symptoms. I was (still am) so sick with so many neurological symptoms, fatigue was the least of my worries. Though maybe there were other symptoms attributed to the low ferritin as well, not sure about that.
I'm better than I was back then (2 years ago), but nowhere near well. Still fighting....TS

I've had a constant tendency toward anemia all the years i've had lyme and (Babesia?); if i fail to take iron pills, it gets into real anemia and low ferritin;--- yes, anemia makes you weak and tired!! I make sure to take 110 mg iron pills every day.
I never tested positive for babesia, but had mild babesia symptoms off and on and responded extremely well to two months Mepron/Zithromax, twice, and am now on a maintenance regime of Babesia herbals, which keep the symptoms down very well.

I've had low iron for a long time (decades) and I've been severly iron anemic once. I'm usually borderline low. Last year, one doctor told me to take iron but my lyme treating doctor said babesia uses it so to hold off until we get it under control.
Sorry you are in a relapse.
If you tried rife and it didn't help, you might consider getting someone to muscle test the correct frequencies for you.
One thing I've found is that sometimes what I think is causing the problem is not the problem. For example, I've had an inflamed colon for a few weeks. So inflamed that it hurt to sit. I thought it was parasites again. I muscle tested for rife frequencies and found I needed staph frequencies. Rifed for them yesterday. Today, my colon feels sooo much better.

I was fine with iron. But I was super low on red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit. The retic count was normal too. I was Babs positive, as well as Bart/HemoBart/WhateverFryLabsIsCallinIt positive.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you are relapsing.
I relapsed (babs) over and over - but seem to have the babs under control at last.
What are you considering next, treatment-wise? It would be tough to be unable to take orals.
