Was prescribed Metanx to go along with the Flagyl, Doxy and Plaquinel.

Is is so good that I can't just take my regular B6 or P5P or is it really worth the 45 dollar co-pay.

Any opinions?

Thanks

Last month my RX for Metanx was filled with a generic called Folast.

According to the pharmacist it should be the same as the brand. I'm not completely convinced that it is as good as the brand but I decided to give it a try because it was $10 instead of the usual $60 copay.

It contains the active, more absorbable forms of folic acid, B12, and B6. This is supposedly what makes it better than OTC vitamins.

Each Metanx tablet contains:
L-methylfolate 2.8mg
Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate 25mg
Methylcobalamin 2mg

You can get all these OTC. It's basically a coenzymated B vitamin supplement. I guess the question is whether or not your co-pay is less than the cost of buying them OTC.

Source Naturals makes a good sublingul Co-enzymated B complex...you can get a bottle for $30.
