My LLMD prescribed armour 60 mgs a day. I take 30mg 1st thing when I wake up, shower then have breakfast. I was instructed to take armour on an empty stomach and not eat for at least 30 minutes after taking armour. Then 2 hours after dinner I take another 30mgs.

This works fine for me.

I take synthroid in the morning on an empty stomach. I've always heard that you take thyroid in the morning. I think because it can be energizing.

You can check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Morning, empty stomach. I keep it bedside so I can take it right when I wake up so by the time I eat time has lapsed.

I tried it 2 weeks both ways. First am then before

bed. I would use it which ever way you feel best on.

Yes, it matters. Take it in the am on an empty stomach. You need it during the hours you are wake and in the normal rhythm that the thyroid produces thyroid hormone.

Some doctors suggest to take a small dose at 2:00 pm as the thyroid naturally puts out and additional bust of thyroid hormone at that time.

I take mine in the am and then again at 2:00.

What if your thyroid meds are just supporting supplements.

Look what I found

" But research reported in the journal Clinical Endocrinology found that taking the same dose of levothyroxine (i.e., Synthroid) at bedtime, as compared to first thing in the morning, might be better.

The small pilot study was prompted by observation that some patients had improved thyroid hormone profiles improved after they switched from taking their levothyroxine in the morning, to bedtime. The purpose was to look at the impact on thyroid hormone profiles by changing the time levothyroxine was taken from early morning to bedtime. They also evaluated the impact of this change on the circadian rhythm of TSH and thyroid hormones and thyroid hormone metabolism."

I recall reading something about this, where participants had a lower TSH by taking their medications in the evenings instead of morning.

But I wonder if this is necessarily better, as couldn't this simply reflect more T4 in the system because the medication - blood test were closer together? Meaning... usually people get their thyroid levels measured early in the morning. If they take their T4 8 hrs before testing, perhaps that is simply why their TSH is lower? It's sort of like taking your thyroid meds right before getting blood tested... not sure if that is the most accurate way to do it.
