I increased my Lexapro last week to 10mg. I know its not supposed to make me happy all the time but its like a couple days Im great and then a couple days I feel doomed/anxious/paranoid.
I dont know if I need more/ or a diff med.. I dont know how Im supposed to feel b/c I have never been one to take meds before..
Im also taking Vitamins. My ND wants to add a small does of 5htp to see if it helps. I know I cant go all natural b/c I did in the past and I still felt the same...
Still trying to find a LLMD preferably one who takes insurance but I am seeing that that is hard to come by..I am just worried that I am going to shell out big bucks and they wont help me! or tell me I dont have Lyme.... I dont really have arthritic pain.. all I have are these darn psych symptoms I have never had before and dont have a family hx of and dam tinnitus that drives me nuts..

No antidepressants have ever helped me. I try to explain how I feel and the doctors always say, you are depressed. I am so sick of hearing that. I am tired, wipped out, exhausted. I have taken up to 3 antidepressant medications before and now I am not taking any. Nothing ever helped at all.
I don't have the anxiety though, I just always feel aggravated, with everyone, all the time. I find it hard to laugh, and I just think it is because I literally don't have the energy to laugh or even get really mad, I just stay on a level of aggravation all the time
I feel like I am going through the motions doing only the bare essentials of what I have to do daily (daughter to school and home, along with getting us something to eat) until something finally happens - bad or good - I don't know.
I can't do anything I really want to, but I am still glad I can get my daughter ready for school, at least I feel like I am doing something.
Wish you luck. Shalome

Check out the threads on KPU/pyroluria and see if any of that seems to fit your symptoms.

I have a friend who swears by taking a multi B vitamin. She takes several a day when she is under stress.
The only reason I don't do the same is that I have interstitial cystitis and the B6 hurts my bladder.
She uses the Shakley brand. I would definitely try them if I could.
Peace....Christie

Antidepressants have never helped me either. They actually make me feel worse. And the withdrawal is horrid.
I do take Xanax for anxiety, which is a life saver for me; but antidepressants do nothing.

kidsgotlyme, very good point. The b vitamins are good for stress. I take one a day plus an extra sublingual B12. I do think they help. Maybe you could take 2 or 3x a day and see if it helps you.

Have you tried the gluten free diet? When I started it, I was able to get off from Lexapro and feel even better than when I was on it.
After making the diet change, I realize that I had anxiety, OCDish thoughts, and ADD. I was always irritable and tired and I had brain fog. All of that went away quickly.
This was before I knew I had Lyme but I still don't have those Lyme symptoms.
