Yes. Big yes. My LLMD actually switched my meds after hearing about my reaction to Tindamax.

ohhh yes! Tindamx made me cry and be depressed, I hated the stuff.
I started to feel better on day 5 off and once I went back on it started all over again. Not fun.
I refused any antidepressants. I knew it was from the medicine and I rode it out, but that's just me.

Yes!! I've been pretty weepy the last few days. I'm only pulsing it on the weekends.
I don't want to be around anyone. I wonder if I could fit (hide) under my bed... Posted by canefan17 (Member # 22149) on :
Tindamax = flagyl?
Posted by TS96 (Member # 14048) on :
canefan, Pretty much. Tindi is suppose to not be as harsh. I find the same symptoms with both.

I'm sure it would since Flagyl goes... BIGTIME.
Sorry you're having to go through that. Take good care of yourself.

My flagyl herxes consist mostly of soreness in my hips, shoulders, calves... some mood sings... and maybe some tears....
but not too bad.
My LLMD says 500mg/day of flagyl is plenty to bust cysts up.
*I think the most recent LD conference led LLMD's to this conclusion.
they used to prescripe as much as 1500mg/day to some patients (good lawd!!)

Hey I'm taking 1500 mg tindamax, 1000mg ceftin, 500mg zithromax. I guess my LLMD wasn't at that conference.
I also take wormwood, vitamin D3, a multivitamin and a ton of probiotics.
I'm a new Lymie, just diagnosed 3 months ago. I'm trying to learn as much as possible. Because as we all know, knowledge is power!!!!
I don't totally understand the cyst buster thing. But I was told to pulse my wormwood (aritmisinin). I guess this is part of cyst busting?

I am taking the 1500 mg of Tindamax too per day. Only pulsed for 3 days a week. It is making me very nauseated but not depressed.

I would believe it!

Are you saying 1500mg is too much. And that 500mg is sufficient for the job?

this was just prescribed for my daughter. She has been very suicidal over the years so now I am afraid to fill the prescription.
Is there anything else that will help without the depression side effects? lmt

I've taken 500mg Tindamax BID (along with other antibiotics concurrently, Minocycline 100mg and Omnicef 300mg, BID. This is a protocol of my own invention, so please talk to your own physicians before trying it. As far as I know, it is not a standard ILADS combination.) for a total of 1000mg daily and had no adverse effects emotionally that I can attribute to it.
If you are already on antidepressants and anti anxiety medicine be careful though, since any effective treatment can make you feel "worse" overall physically or emotionally due to the herx effect.
Tindamax is an excellent drug and I believe is a great cornerstone of Lyme treatment. It is one of the few antibiotics able to deal with cystic and cell wall deficient forms, has a lot of anecdotal evidence to work on bacterial and possibly protzoan coinfections, and is WAY easier to tolerate than Flagyl. The only downside is its cost, I've found. Of course, it is a strong medicine and those sensitive could always have a bad reaction to anything!
