I just scheduled an MRI Spect for my daughter. I have a few questions. She has been having migraine like headaches from the beginning, but over the past month it has changed over to this horrible pressure in her head that feels like her head is going to explode. What will this MRI Spect show? Also if she isn't having the symptoms the day of the test could the Spect still reveal things or does the head pressure have to be present at the time. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

My daughter had headaches before starting

treatment. I have read the literature of lesions

caused by lyme and other organisms.

I do not think being asymptomatic on the day of the SPECT SCAN will effect the results-if the headaches are related to Lyme Disease.

I wasn't even having the horrible head pain your DD is having- just the on and off feeling of pressure and acting like I had Alzheimers- my SPECT was whacko-but good for insurance coverage.

What headaches I was having resolved with treatment.

What kind of doctor should I ask about a SPECT. My neurologist? I have been interested for a while, and all I found was a neuropsychiatrist that wanted $3600 dollars with nothing covered by insurance and nothing going towards my deductible.

It was my daughter's LLMD who requested an MRI and the SPECT, but I would think a neurologist would be able to order the same test.

My only symptom for the first six months was extreme headache/pressure and fatigue. Nausea came with the pain.

My first spect scan was positive for inflammation and swelling (one in the same :Q)

Second one also showed lesions three months later.

Two years after that, they finally diagnosed late stage lyme encephalitis sp??/

Anyway, if there's something going on from lyme, they should see it. I wouldn't worry. It's a very specific and detailed scan. I hope all goes well!

Schnuddelka -

How do they treat late stage lyme encephalitis? Did your symptoms get worse? How are you now? It is so much info...I get overwhelmed sometime with everything.
