Menopause is my first guess.

I just had my levels checked out about a year ago and they said i was not even pre menapausal yet.. but i realize those test may not be perfect.

This just is so crazy...

I am shaking and shivering so badly and it hurts even.. and then... hot and its so frustrating.

Maybe a lot can change in one year?

when i first fell ill, that was me. the mepron/zith seemed to . babesia treatment seemed to fix it.

Maybe running a low grade fever that comes on and you freeze for a while, then you sweat it off?

I also thought menopause or peri-menopause.

I get hot flashes with bartonella. I feel very cold, but not freezing cold. I get hot flashes mainly at night, about 3-4 times. Babesia causes hot flashes with profuse sweating.

I think the chills and sweats were, for me, babesia.

That was what was going on with me....thought hot flashes.....but was from Babesia, after treatment it went away.

It was definitly real chills where you could not get warm then later, I'd be yanking off clothes I was so hot. Learned to wear a tank top and hold a sweater....

Do you also have air hunger?? Where you are breathing fine but seems like somehow not enough oxygen?

That was the other biggie with this for me -- I noticed it mostly when I went to bed.

I 'supposedly' have WA-1 (Babesia). Springshowers, this is happening big time to me now. Shaking cold and then this afternoon just horrid hot flashes everywhere. I was miserable and scared. I'm a male ao not menopause. I wish I knew the cause.

no - its not Menopause, my goodness, one would think this is the one place someone could describe a symptom and not automatically be assumed normal.

I have had this symptom since I had surgery and antibiotics during that surgery, to remove calcium and non-calcium cysts from my feet.

the fevers aren't 'little' in any sense of the word. I have been thru menopause 'hot flashes' and I only WISH these were similar!

I have been seen running outside almost naked in 20 degree temps, my spine feels on fire and I am literally dripping in sweat. As I type now, my hands and feet are ice but I know that in a few hours, I will be dripping.

I am not sure what it is caused by. I know that Oregano Oil chilled in water and drunk immediately when starting to sweat, helps. I wake every 2-3 hours in a sweat.

Whatever causes this, it is probably related to Bb or co-infections or yeasts/parasites/fungus.

HI..Thanks Guys.

I do not think it is menapause either. This just started after my hospital release and treatment for blood infection .. ironic huh?

I have had the "sweats" that I thought were due to babesia and I seemed to get rid of that a long time ago.

I do think that this hosptial visit was quite tramautic and that something has reemerged ..

dang it.

I can not catch a break it seems. I keep getting things happening to me every few months and each time I think i am gaining ground something happens.

I am getting really frustrated. Even though i am overall gaining .. I could be so much further if it were not for these ongoing events..

This is new to me.. The freezing cold is so deep to the bone and it so Shuddering..

I am glad someone else can relate.. I just have not had this before.. ever. in all my 10 years of illness.. Like I said I have had the sweats and drenching sweats at night...

This is somewhat different in how to goes from one to the other and back again.. and it happens all day and night... Mostly At Night I guess.

I am also in more pain that usual.. Something is going on .. for sure....

: (

So.. I wonder if the surgery has anything to do with it. IN my week at the hospital I had Spinal tap that was done that was pretty traumatic as it took them like 8 tries.

Then I had surgery to take out my port and had the meds that help you go to sleep somewhat anyway.. (not sure what they used) and locals and all that crap..

Then I had the picc line put in and they gave me ativan in my IV and more locals and well..

I also had Xrays and Ultra sounds and other tests and many many pokes for IVs as they kept having trouble...

I was so bruised and bloody and bandaged up when i left there.. >>

I also had about 5 different kinds of abx as they tried to figure out what kind of infection I had..

So.. BUGBIT

Do you think it might be the trauma of the episodes and surgeries or the drugs they gave or the combination of the whole ordeal?

I wish I knew.. but I guess I just wont know.

Thyroid controls body temp, hormones, etc.

Get your thyroid checked if you haven't yet.
Make sure they do all tests not just a TSH.

It sounds like a huge herx from the abx they gave you. Maybe it is a good thing, attacking what was buried of your babesia. I hope you can find relief soon. It sound like you have been and are going through the pits.

I had this exact thing. I think its babs. Mepron took it all away. My LLMD had me switch to malarone. Now its back. LLMD is putting me back on mepron eventually. ITS NOT MENOPAUSE!

Are you septic still from the port/line you had in?

Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :

GOsh.. No Blue. THey took extra samples every single day at the hospital to try to get it to grow and the lost samples did not grow at all so that is why I got discharged.

So.I got to assume no...

But that was a kinda scary question. Do you know something I dont?

I have had this same thing or cold/hot hot /cold. I have been weaning off my pemarin & thought that it was that since I have been on it since my hysterectomy so never knew what hot flashes were. My Dc. wants to get me off of premarin, so I am not sure wich it is. I have been tested negative for babesia. Hang tough & remember that we can do all things through God that strengthens me & you! He never gives us more than we can handle. I am thinking what would Dr. Oz say about lyme? It wouldnt hurt to get the publicity of awareness. God Bless you springshowers :-)

I did that herxing. It stopped further in trtmt.

My husband says that I should make up my mind...are you hot or are you cold? Truth is, I am both...back and forth. I can be sweating and shivering at the same time. My bed socks come on and off all day long.

When I was hospitalized for 6 weeks (septicemia) on 2 IV's daily of heavy antibiotics I was soaked in sweat. Even my hands were sweaty. I had uncontrollable diarrhea, trembling. I got a rash everywhere.

I,too, had my port removed. They said it caused the septicemia. But they found no signs of infection.

I don't think it was the trauma causing these temp swings. I think it was a herx reaction. And now I think I am herxing from the Bicillin shots.

But the good news is that it seems to result in great overall improvement.

Are you running any type of fevers on top of this?

Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :

Blue..No fever Nope.. I did not even have a fever during the whole ordeal of sepsis...Weird huh?

Boy I was throwing up voilently thogh and white as a ghost and major pain pain pain ...

So well.. I dont know what this is but maybe it will resolves itself.....

If it is a herx from the Rochephin I am done in a couple days..
