Has anyone developed rheumatoid arthritis with Lyme and Bartonella and hypercoagulation? Is there a difference in the treatment for the arthritis by a rheumatologist vs. LLMD? The arthritis has suddenly become much worse. It is incapacitating. What have you done to relieve the muscle pain, swelling, stiffness, etc.?

I developed reactive arthritis, and came to a lyme /babesia diagnosis after developing these symptoms. There are many arthritis/autoimmune issues that are caused by lyme and co-infections. Whatever your treatment for lyme, will ultimately cure the arthritis. Rheumatoid patients that discover they have lyme are ultimately treated by an llmd, not an AP doctor.

I do know that many lyme/arthritis patients cannot tolerate antibiotics at the same dosage as others, and must go much slower in treatment, because of the increased pain.

You can always look at the roadback.org website for confirmation. Many have lyme, and many of us are newly diagnosed with lyme. They may be able to offer any advice on pain medication.

I took Lyrica for pain! It is prescribed for nerve pain which is very common in LD.

My pain level has improved with treatment so I don't take it anymore.

There have been studies done on RA patients getting better on long term antibiotic treatment.
