Just a quick question that you all might be able to help with. I was diagnosed with MS about 5 years ago. Had an Elisa then, which was negative. My initial MRI showed diffuse white matter lesions, which may be due to MS or lyme, according to the report. Have never had a real flare of MS since diagnosis.
I've had some major chronic achiness/tenderness/ in my arms and shoulders, and headaches, but they've gone away since I started taking Cymbalta for depression.
My husband was diagnosed with chronic Lyme last summer, after years of pain which he thought was due to fibromyalgia. My 2 sons and I were tested with a Western Blot recently, and one son was positive and started antibiotics. My results today showed all the bands to be nonreactive, except for Band 41, which was "reactive".
Does this result indicate that I might possibly have Lyme? I made a doctor's appt, to discuss further but can't see them until March. Should I seek Igenex testing?

Yes you might have Lyme depending on your symptoms. Lyme is hard to diagnose, you will have to see an LLMD.

I was initially diagnosed with MS, and later Lyme. BTW, I too only had the "41" band showing on my first WB, then on my Igenex panel I showed CDC positive.
Get an Igenex if you can, ASAP. I was treating for MS for a year, and continued to decline before I did my own research and found I indeed had Lyme. Oh, if you can, check for coinfections as well. They are a huge component in your level of illness. God bless you.

17 yrs told MS then found out Lyme, & co-infections. Suggest you get to a Lyme literate MD.
