Six.5 years? Six.5 years I was left suffering from this damn government (Canada)?
My co-ordination is improving. I experienced a seizure as mild as I haven't experienced since early 2003 - definitely late 2002.
My handwriting is improving.
How does this go ON??????????? Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
Yeah, government health care is wonderful. At least that's what they have been trying to tell us over here.
So glad you're finally getting the treatment you've been needing!!!

YAY!!! Glad you're having improvement! It took six weeks on bart treatment for me to see improvement!

I so needed to hear this right now! I just started bart treatment a few days ago. I am praying for improvement ASAP!
I am so glad you are feeling better....great news!

What are you taking???

canbravelyme and six goofy kids, What bart treatment did you do? I have done zith, omnicef and tindamax and got immediate improvement. But after 8 months I went off of them to detox and the symptoms returned quickly.
I finally got my doctor to prescribe Bactrim DS for my Bart. Several people say it's what really helped kick it.
What did you two use?

I am glad you are seeing relief. Even though your government might not provide the best care - we don't get it either because the CDC does not recognize chronic lyme - and more than likely it is our CDC recommendations that your government is following!
I feel MUCH better since I started Bactrim DS. The rifampin was making me just as sick as the bart with the same symptoms. Now all I have to do is clear up these hot flashes!
What is helping you?
Posted by Imaginit (Member # 20399) on :
Nefferdun- It's your Montana Neighbor--Robbie--try bio identical hormones for your hot flashes. The naturapath in Bozeman can do this. Glad Bactrim DS helped you too. Rifampin made me sick as well.

nefferdun, So good to hear that Bactrim DS works for you. How much do you take and do you take other ABs with it? I've been taking Rifampin with Doxy and Azihro for more than 5 weeks with no imrovements... Posted by canbravelyme (Member # 9785) on :
Thank you all for your input! I so appreciate that I know you.
I'm on Levaquin and Omeprazole (it's a proton pump inhibitor - it's purpose is to heighten the effect of the Levaquin).
I will say that the most important focus has to be on finding a doctor. We've all been infected in various places, and what works for one may not work for another.

Update: Today no seizures so far. I did pretty well everything I wanted to do within the house. Two little lie downs.... Posted by nefferdun (Member # 20157) on :
That is great that you are doing so well - finally found out what was standing in your way of recovery and hopefully will knock it down.
imaginit, I do take bio-identical hormones. My doctor wanted to up the dose and maybe I will do that but it seems more related to the bart because it is improving since I started the Bactrim DS. I plan to see the doctor in Bozeman. I just have to arrange for my daughter to "babysit" all the animals. So good to know I don't have to drive out of state again.
I take 500mg zithro once a day and Bactrim DS twice a day.

For bart, I used Levaquin.

For bart I used Biaxin - 9 months to get well on it.

Six - You said you treated for 6 weeks for Bart. Did you take the Levaquin for 6 weeks? What dosage were you on? Did you take it in a combo with anything else?
