Does anyone have any ideas on what would cause painful urination? I cannot imagine there could be a bladder or kidney infection with all of the antibiotics being taken.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thank you in advance - this website has been the most helpful thing we have found.

Yeast infection

It could be a urinary tract infection that is caused by a bacteria not killed by the antibiotics you are on.

If this could be the case, you may need to go to the doctor and get a culture done, then they will tell you what antibiotic to take.

or it could be yeast. Cranberry pills and Uristat both are OTC and standby's at my house. I used to get UTI's every couple of months. (Not anymore though). However, a UTI is not something to mess with, so if you try these above and you don't get relief get to the doctor for a culture.

I had this problem and did a culture...it was a very high level of Ecoli Bacteria!

I personally believe I got this with killing parasites a while back. (parasite harbor our viruses and bacteria)

My regular MD who ran the test after I went there in pain, knows that now I have become a "natural" therapy person, with the remissin of my lyme andco-infections, and he has seen my success with it. He was my promary care MD, not my LLMD... so he was reluctant to put me on antibiotics, and wanted to give me a chance to try my own remedy. He trusts me...he would not do this for most of his patients.

I also took his suggestion and made an appointment with a urologist...for a follow up urine test in two weeks, and said I would go on antibiotc if I did not clear up. These UTI's can cause major problems if they are not treated.

So I took tincture of goldenrod...one dropperfull in water...each morning and night...and drank pellegrino water with cranberry juice through out the day. I also added tincutre of black walnut, once a week only. And took binders of either chlorella, charcoal, and relenix kidney drainage each evening. This worked for me as recommended through my ND.

In two weeks...the specialist said I was comletely clear of the bacteria that was originally "off the charts". This traditional specialist copied my protocol for future reference! My pain left in a few days, but I needed the two weeks I believe to clear it.

Thanks for your responses. I'm taking him in this afternoon to find out what's going on.

I've had this problem in the past several times and they have never found anything. I still go to the doc everytime though b.c. a UTI is nothing to mess with.

My llmd did recommend D-Mannose and it really seems to help.

I think this can exist quite often w/o the presence of yeast or a UTI.

I get this sensation every now and then and it seems to go away.

I have been checked multiple times b4 and nothing is "wrong" according to test. lol

I have this off and on and even had a couple of urine tests done to check for UTI and other things, and it was always normal.

You know, it can be a symptom of lyme to have painful urination, etc. Actually, my LLMD thinks it's a Bartonella symptom.

Anyway, I always have it, but it comes and goes.

Sounds like a urinary tract infection. OR abx can cause this if you don't take them with enough water. Drink plenty of water with every dose.

The initial UTI test at Dr came back negative. They are sending out for a culture. In the meantime, the Dr gave him a different abx to take for a week until we get results back. If culture is neg, he said to go back on regular abx.

I do think that not drinking enough is part of the problem.

Thank you for all of your replies. [Smile]

Our daughter had this and thought it was a UTI.

It came back negative and then we found out a month later she had Lyme.

Sorry your son has this. Hope he feels better. Warm bath seemed to help our daughter.

She also has Bart, Ehrliciosis and Myco, Now still has urine frequency. It has improved a bit with treatment, Hoping it gets better with further treatment.

This seems to be a common symptom in Lyme and Co's. Hope he feels better.

UTI's and IC are also a symptom of Lyme for some people. I'm guessing you could have exacerbation of those symptoms with antibiotics as a result, though I've never read of an LLMD saying this specifically.
And, yeast can certainly be part of the problem. Also, UTI's and Lyme and candida overgrowth can be both a symptom and a cause of immune suppression so it wouldn't be surprising to see all three happen whether you're on antibiotics or not.

My 5 year old son started having pain in his penis during urination and afterwards. The UTI test was negative. This lasted 3 days on and off until we switched one of his meds to add rifampin. It cleared up in 24 hours. Clearly it was related to bartonella in my son's case.

I don't take antibiotics, but I did get the burning sensation about a month or so ago when urinating. Went to my urologist who did a culture test on me and it turned out to be negative.

Of course, he wanted me to take antibiotics anyway which I did not do because I can't handle abx very well. Several people on this forum suggested I try D-Manoose which is what I did.

After taking it for a week the burning went away. My doctor in KS who's treating me for Lyme disease tested D-Manoose on me and told me to continue taking it as my body wants it. I still get the burning sensation on occasion but not often like before.

If your culture test show you have UTI then abx might be the way to go for your son. I personally look for natural remedies first since abx are too hard on me.

Hope your son gets better soon!

D- Mannose definitely - you need to dose the maximum allowed and stay on it some more days after you feel better. Works only for Coli.
Try cantharis C 30 3 globuli every hour for some hours and then less.
