Recently diagnosed with acute LD. Started Doxycycline yesterday. My doc says either I got this very recently or have had it for who knows how long. I have had many of the symptoms off & on in varying severity for over 30 years. Is it possible to have had this for that long? Can the symptoms like severe neck & back pain periodically go away & come back.

So which is it?? Recent or prolonged?? Sounds like you need to find a Lyme specialist, someone who knows how to diagnose and treat Lyme disease...otherwise known as an LLMD.
Quite possible you've had this a long time. I had it for 42 yrs before being diagnosed. I am now well. It took me 4 yrs to get well!
During those 42 yrs, I managed to graduate from high school and college and teach for 21 yrs. I had to retire on disability. At the time, I did NOT know I had Lyme. Found out several years later.

Could be a multitide of things along with the lym;e as well. Could have gotten it a long time ago...and also re-infected, or have lingering co-infections.
Glad you are getting treatment!
My best advice...once you test and treat vor co-infections...start a major natural detox regime...then your immune system can start to functin on its own...
this is the way back to health...a long, slow, uphill steady climb...but it can be done. don't rush things...just be persistant.
Followl those who have healed, and the path will become clear...and the layers of illness will be removed.

Hope you have better luck finding someone to help you in MA. Despite all agreeing my son has lyme, after 2 years of trying to find help, we had to travel out of state.
Some of the best hospitals/Drs in the country are here & I had to leave the state. Makes no sense....
