So my problem is when I need to go urinate it takes forever to start----mainly this happens at night. I went to see an Urologist b/c I go ALOT during the day and night. I didn't like any of the medicines I tried b/c all they did was make my mouth very dry and then I'd drink water and have to go to the bathroom again.
But the trouble starting to urinate is very annoying. Does anyone else have this problem or any advice for me?
Thanks so much, Sherrie

Are you taking narcotic meds? That is the only thing I can think of that causes delayed starting. Definitely bring it up to your doctor.

My 5 yr old daughter has this - its called voiding dysfunction caused by abnormal nerve function. She has to live with it - no meds because she has other problems too. I'd suggest another urologist.

Thank you for the replies. I wasn't aware that narcotic meds cause a delay--that's interesting. I'm going to bring it up with my regular doctor and then go back to the Urologist if need be.

Antihistamines and other sinus medications can cause this. My husband was told this by a urologist after he went through the urologist's tests (cystoscopy--OH NO) and paid him the bucks.
How upsetting. All he had to do was stop the Benadryl and he saw an amazing return to normalcy.
Now, he plays a balancing game when he has to take meds for sinus trouble. Pick your med, pick your side effect.

Try Nutramedix Parsley. It has helped re regulate my urine flow and is designed to do so in addition to aiding in lymphatic drainage.
Looks like it's no longer on the Nutramedix website but it can be purchased less expensively at myherbs.net anyway.
Good luck.

Have you looked into bartonella as a cause? What other symptoms do you have?
Frequent urination was one of my husband's worst symptoms and has improved with treatment. We are not sure it is related to bart, as he has lyme and babesia as well. But I have heard from others...bart loves the bladder.

Yes, many meds can cause this to happen. Anything that is drying to the body.
I have trouble with this, esp during the night or early morning. ( not drinking fluids during the night)
I also have Interstitial Cystitis. That explains most of my problems with the bladder.
