Hi all,
I started 250 mg of levaquin on Monday. It immediatly made me feel a bit funky, spacey. I am pulsing M, W, F. I just took it again. Same feeling.

Did you experienc this? Does this go away? I am supposed to go up to 500mg next week.

Doesn't feel like a herx in the way I have herxed.

Any thoughts?

Kathy

From p. 25 of Burrascano Guidelines:

"Levofloxacin is generally well tolerated, with almost no stomach upset. Very rarely, it can cause confusion- this is temporary (clears in a few days) and may be relieved by lowering the dose."

Yes, it really gets to you at first but it was the best drug I ever used to clear my mind. Unfortuneatly it gave me tendonitis - not a herx - really. Take your minerals especially the magnesium.

Kathy, and anyone else using ABX,

I am writing to you as a concerned victim of a serious drug reaction to a family of drugs called Flouroquinilones ABX: Levaquin, Cipro, Floxin, Avelox and twenty others.

Doctors don't know the extent of the damage this family of ABX can cause. I have personally talked with people on the phone that have been disabled from these drugs and hundreds on the forums that are very sick. There is no fix to these and the reactions can last weeks to years and permanent.

I was injured by them 20 months ago and still am hoping to recover but may have permanent damage to my Guts and Nervous System and now I am dealing with Lyme. I had to sell my beloved Chiropractic Practice and now live with my in-laws from taking the drugs.

You can do what you want, but before I would touch another of those pills I would visit a site that was compiled by researchers and MD's that have been injured by the FQ ABX. Taking Magnesium may help with the tendons, but that is only the tip of the iceberg to the damage these can do. see www.fqresearch.org .

There are at least three forums of people injured by these drugs just like Lyme that are very sick. I am not against drugs, but I am against drugs that do damage like this.

I have a personal friend who is a MD that used to prescribe these and will no longer do this after seeing the damage it has done to me.

This is based on my personal experience. Please visit the website it may save your quality of life or that of a loved one.
Sincerely Dr.Dave DC

P.S. There are many other ABX's that are more affective against lyme than FQ ABX's

I cut and pasted the list of damage that have occured in many people from the website. I just don't want to see your health complicated anymore...Lyme is tough enough to deal with.

The Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRS) Associated with the Fluoroquinolones include:
Spontaneous Tendon Ruptures, Toxic Psychosis Insomnia, Anxiety Attacks, Irreversible Peripheral Neuropathy,
Hypoglycemia, Liver Failure, Heart Failure, Fatal Reactions, Vision and Hearing Loss, DNA Damage, Kidney Failure,
Skin Damage, Brain Damage, Stephen Johnson, Syndrome, Blood Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Rashes,
Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis, Phototoxicity, Burning Pain, Joint and Tendon Damage.
