I use infrared sauna's as part of my treatment plan. It was recommended by my llmd who also has one. I do it about twice a week, for 40 min. going up from 120 degrees to 140 deg. It helps me so much I always feel great after. My ? is does anyone know how high you need to get your body temp. up to, and sustained for how long to kill bacteria so I know it is a viable treatment for me. My lyme is neuro. Jasek

Sorry I can't answer your questions. My understanding is that sauna is recommended for DETOX, not for killing borrellia. I would not rely on it as a treatment for killing.

yes, i think it is really just for detox, not killing. i don't think your body could get hot enough in a sauna to kill spirochetes.

it is my understanding that if your body got hot enough to kill the spirochetes, it would also kill you. (although this is all just what i heard from responses regarding body temp/spirochetes/saunas over the years.

Jasek'

I also have one ...I was told by an ND to get into the sauna at 100 degrees so your body isn't shocked and stay in it for about 10-20 min and drink a bottle of water with minerals while in sauna and after. I set it at 130

I was also told it kills spirochettes at 112 degrees and penetrates the body around 1.5 inches. i don't know how long to kill but i would imagine at least 10 min's.

It also known to be one of the best to Detox the body without stressing your liver and kidneys.

There is info here about temperatures needed to kill borrelia.

Thanks for all the feedback. My Dr. explained how they tried to raise temps. to kill malaria. He says 102 deg. Not to go to 104 and up. We all know why. Ifeel it has to kill some so that works for me. All I have to go on is a very bad neuro fall and I succeded to come out of it mostly due to my saunas, with my other protocal I use. It is a deep tissue suana which is different and better for us. Reg. sauna's don't work the same. But I highly believe you must use it in conjuntine with an aerobic exercise for the oxogen. Best to do it after excercising when your body temp is going up then get in the sauna. Jasek
