I am a college student, turning 20 soon. I am very athletic, and have no heart problems.I never had blood pressure problems. As soon as I got sick (with Lyme), I have had High Blood Pressure and they put me on medicine for it. I know that people can get low blood pressure from Lyme, but has anyone gotten High Blood Pressure from Lyme? The LLMD I talked to told me it can do that. Has this happen to anyone else?

Thanks.

I think lyme can affect just about anything.

Hopefully it will resolve with proper lyme treatment.

My blood pressure was 30 points higher when I was eating gluten.

Yes, me too!

I am not as young as you, I'm 48. However, when I first got sick, at my worst 4 years ago - my blood pressure went up; never had a problem in my life with BP prior to that. I'm a runner, active, thin, no family history, etc.

I think the highest I ever knew about was 160/90 at my worst. But, just the other day it was 120/84, still elevated for me. I've not been so high that I've been rx'd any meds, yet.

I spoke to my LLMD who said he thought it might be another issue, not Lyme-related. I say, no way. It all came down at the same time; and I've read about others with elevated BP too. Though like you said, many experience low BP problems. I think I read on a symptom list one time "blood pressure inconsistencies," in other words, all over the place, high, low or whatever.

I am still very neuro symptomatic and still treating. I am just hopeful that as I get more on top of this nasty disease the BP issues will improve more. You're not alone. TS

Ditto to tickssuck's story. But mine is 138/84 mostly now.

When I first got sick it was often around 160/90. Especially when I was out in the sun. I think the increase of vit D revs up your immune system. Probably had a kill, then the toxic reaction afterward from the dead bugs caused the high BP. Just a theory based on what I have read about these things.

Never in my life did I have high BP before getting sick. Always was low to normal 120/80 the highest. I was in good shape and could ride my road bike up a mountain. When I got sick I was lucky if I could walk a large store floor. I can now but that is about it. [Razz]

I never had high BP or High cholesterol until I got lyme, I was also very, very active.

My doctor use to get mad at me because my BP and cholesterol was better than his.
The reason he got mad was because he didn't drink and he also didn't eat meat.

I have all ways refused the meds for high BP and cholesterol. Unless it get really out of control
I wont take those meds.

Before i was diagnosed (last OCT) I noticed my BP was up it was 138/95...its usually 100/65 ish.....and my pulse was 113....usually 80 ish...... it has stayed consistently up although better than it was...pulse still high for me....I definately think it is lyme related.....as I see it better with treatment.....

Never had high blood pressure before. Had CFS for years, and my blood pressure was always normal at 120/70 or less. Now it fluxuates between 130/80 to 160/90.

I think it's babesia...

Count me in, as well - a runner and athlete all my life, but blood pressure starting creeping up about the time I began to get symptoms. Usually runs 130-140/90 these days.
