I'm contemplating Rocephin (actually it's more like 'Im trying to arrange funds for getting Rocephin'), which my LLMD wants me on, and I'm wondering if there are any theories on supplements that may reduce the risk of gall bladder damage, besides Actigall. Are you supposed to be on Actigall before starting the Rocephin? Any other info I should know?

I started Actigall the day I started the rocephin (2x a day). Been on rocephin since Aug '09 with a month or so break. No problems here.
As far as supplements, I am not aware of any.

You should be on it; we have so many bottles of it kicking around here from our many bouts on Rocephin.

Also, a lot of olive oil helps keep your gall bladder healthy according to my llmd. I'm not a doctor, but he is! ;-) Good luck!

If you think the liver, the gallbladders best buddy, needs support - Livergy from IV or L + Ls from SF. Posted by Keebler (Member # 12673) on :
- If you take Turmeric - in low doses &/or as part of a recipe - that might still be okay but the stronger Turmeric Extract (also called Curcumin) may be too strong for a gallbladder on Rocephin.
While this is normally a good addition, and a little may be helpful, don't push it and be ready to back off from even turmeric in your black beans if it you feel the gallbladder is overwhelmed.
I know some say a lot of olive oil but I don't think a lot of any oil, at any time is good. As part of a healthy diet, olive oil is great. But too much of ANY oil can be very hard on the liver and gallbladder, in my opinion.
"A lot" can also mean very different things. It can mean within the scope of a good Mediterranean Diet or it can mean the amount used for a vehicle oil change and we just aren't built that way. -

There is an herb called Stone Breaker, Phyllanthus, Chanca Piedra.
This is good for the liver, but I don't know about the Rocephin.
