Is it ok to take them together at the same time of day? LLMD did not say, but that is what I have been doing.

That's what I have been doing too. My LLMD didn't specify anything either. I just don't have any room in my med/supplement schedule to take them apart from each other.

Thank you!

Rifampin is better absorbed on an empty stomach.

People usually take doxy w/ food due to nausea.

Do you take both meds 2x/day?

wake up at 5am, pop Rif on empty stomach, get back to sleep till 7 (sleep through any possible nausea) eat breakfast and pop doxy...thats how i do it.

Rif is best absorbed when took at least 2 hours before food (my LLMD used to be a duck at TB clinic for few years so he knows the drug pretty well).

Btw. I love Rif...works like a vacuum cleaner for me [Smile]

Kastroo brings up an interesting point- Rifampin is a TB drug. It's often used in TB patients for years (like 2 years) on end. This might be useful information if you have a doctor or insurance company that's trying to deny prescribing some of your meds- there's a pretty good safety profile on Rifampin in long-term usage even though it interacts with the metabolism of a bunch of other drugs.

I took both of them together with no issue.
