Has anyone been diagnosed with this?

I have a meeting with my LLMD yesterday that went ok I guess... At the end of the session he explained to me that I have Graves Disease which is an autoimmune thing causing my thyroid to over produce and make me feel worse.

He is hoping it is just part of the illness and that it will go away sometime when the infections are better but there is no guarantee.

Anyone else? Have any advice?

Can't give an advice but just what happened to me.

In 2004 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and was on mediacation propiltiouracil- not sure about spelling- for a year if not mistaken.
Next step after a year of medication was to get ionidine to "kill" or "deactivate" my thyroid gland.

But...I got second opinion form my bosnian doctor(I am from Bosnia, but live in the States). He was strongly against ionidine it beacuse my case was not severe.

After that I just stopped medication and never followed up with endocrinologist. Symptoms had calmed within next 6 months.
Looking back it seems my Graves Disease was actually undiagnosed Lyme + Babesia-was infected in 2002.

I think there is a great chance that your symptoms will improve with Lyme treatment.

Good luck

I was diagnosed about 3 yrs ago with Graves. I was sitting in theendo's office with my heart poundung at 120. Labs were done. I was on tapazole for 5 months and went off it. Haven't had any more episodes.

Another Lymie in my town was told he had Graves disease by an endocrinologist and to take prednisone because he had eye problems even though his tests for Graves were normal.

He didn't have Graves disease. The endo only said that because of how his eyes looked. But his eye bulging and double vision were caused by Lyme which improved greatly with Lyme treatment. Luckily he only took 1 or 2 doses of the prednisone when he came to his senses. He didn't know what he had at the time, but he knew after a few days contemplation, it wasn't Graves.

I have low thyroid, runs in the family, but I beleive it was triggered by Lyme and when my Lyme is doing really good, I don't need as much thyroid med, which tells me the Lyme is affecting my thyroid.

Be careful,
Robin
