I don't get my 1st LLMD appt. 'til mid April.

During the meantime, ID, Neurologist, Int. Med. doc's all want me to take Lyrica for the nerve pain.

It seems like they are all trying to force this upon me. I haven't taken it, yet. My theory to them is that I don't want something to cover up the problem and/or symptoms - I want the problem fixed.

None of them will give me any more abx.(I already did dyox treatment. But, they all want me to take Lyrica.

I ask you what you think. Your opinions are helpful.

My neuro gave me lyrica, said to take to 75mg tablets but knowing how super sensitive i am i called my very knowledgable pharmacist.

She said it was way too much and side effects could increase some of the symptoms i am already getting. She suggested I open one 75mg capsule and empty out 2/3rds and see what happens.

I did not and maybe i was just having a really bad day but i did feel a lot worse.

Now that is just my body's reaction. My opinion is as you have not really started with the llmd i would avoid the heavy stuff and perhaps stick to the minimal pain relief.

I take 1 tylenol 3 and half a lorazapam early afternoon it does not take away all the pain but it does give me a little break and i am able to get some bed rest.

As i say everyone is different and at different stages. Could luck.

I use to take it 75mg 3x a day. It really did dull some of the pain.

Don't look at it as covering up the problem; but just something to help you get through it. Believe me, it won't cover it up. All it did for me was give a little relief when I was in so much pain.

It also helped some of the neuro stuff, like twitching and insomnia. It did not cure anything or cover anything up. Its okay to take something to help you "deal" with some of the misery.

Once I got the pain down a little with Lyme treatment, I stopped taking the Lyrica. I am still treating lyme and still have pain, but the pain is to a point that I can live with it without pain meds.

I tried samples of Lyrica recently.

I took 1/2 of a 75 mg cap for several nights at bedtime and them increased to 75 mg at bedtime only on nights when I didn't have to get up early the next day...otherwise I took only 1/2.

At the 2 week point, my head and neck pain which had improved about 50%, was back with a vengeance...100% pain again!

After 3 days of suffering I knew it had to be the Lyrica.

I stopped the Lyrica and 3 days later my head and neck pain was back to 50%.

This was strangely reminiscent of 2 years ago when I tried Ambien CR for sleep and it stirred up the Lyme (which was known only as fibromyalgia at the time) and caused all this excrutiating head/neck/shoulder pain.
