Is it common to have an autoimmune disease along with lyme? I have positive ANA but in the last year they can't put a name on it...so far some connective tissue disease. Wonder if the lyme, which recently discovered had something to do with it? Have not been treated for the lyme yet, trying to get a doc, but curious if autoimmune will slow down then with proper treatment with lyme???? Curious how they relate to each other. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Jocelyn

IMO, it's all the same thing and the diagnosis depends on what type of doc you go to. I have tested Igenix positive for Lyme, but any neurologist will say I have "MS", I have also tested positive for Lupus.

I have lyme. I also am positive for ANA, I have vasculitis, allergies, and graves disease.
These are all autoimmune problems I have. It can't be just that all this randomly happened to me at once... something is causing it and most likely it's lyme.

I have reactive arthritis. There are many with autoimmune diseases that resolve, once lyme is treated.
Check out the website www.roadback.org. It is specifically for autoimmune disease and antibiotic treatment. Lyme is a big topic these days.
