I've been on IV Rocephin for 4 days now and feel ok (bit nauseated and mild increase in pain in ankles, knees, and hands) but really not what I expected! I guess I thought that IV would cause a HUGE herx. However I think that I always felt much worse on the oral herxes.

This doesn't make sense to me.

Why? Can any explain this to me?

Take it!

I had much easier time on IV meds. Orals I felt like it was all side affects or some weird and I felt ill and odd feelings came up that did not feel like a herx. So hard to explain. Like poisioned or something.

IVs were much smoother and cleaners .. thats the words I can use.

WHy?? I am not sure and my doctors can not tell me. They did mention Of course the GI system must play a role?

I think there is an issue with some of us and oral meds that makes us respond differently than others. What is it? I dont know?

My doctors have not been able to really tell me.

Orals require digestion (aka gut involvement)

IV's go straight to the blood.

IV's may also force bacteria into cyst former much faster than Orals.

Not sure why but I seem to herx more (or possibly just feel the side effects more) on orals as opposed to IV.

I am seeing way more improvement now that I am on oral Biaxin then when I was on IV Doxy in terms of Neuro. involvement. Go figure... TG

Maps....I've been on IV since last Aug. It is much easier on you than orals, for me anyway. No need to be nervous.

The first couple days I had a little nausea but it went away.

Good luck and don't worry. The rest of us that have gone through this have done enough worrying for you!!
