Ok, I am about to see a new LLMD and start Bicillian shots. I have heard it hurts very bad as an IM. I have tried many other things so I am at wit's end. What can I do to help elevate the pain once I start the shots. I thank you for your help.!

Bicillin is great stuff. It doen't hurt unless you think about pain. Clear your mind. Make sure you inject slowly, and then use a hot compress or get in the hot shower afterward to help absorption. Posted by Sammi (Member # 110) on :
You will get used to getting the shots. You can numb the area with Lidocaine about an hour before getting the shot.

Sammi, thats a good idea, where do you get the lidocaine?
I have had rocephin via pic line that didn't do much.
Zith makes me bleed in my intestines.
Doxy I can't tolerate.
I am really hoping the Bicillin helps.
Have any other users had success and if so how long did you use the Bicillin?

Lidocaine can be prescribed by your doctor.
I have been doing IM Bicillin since mid-January. It is definitely stirring things up for me. From what others have posted, it can take some time to notice improvement.

Bicillin is awesome. The shots sting for a few minutes, but then it is over.
Some like to ice the area first. I preferred to put a heating pad on it after the shot.
I progressed the most on Bicillin, but stopped too soon. Make sure to give it time 6-12 months. It was the final abx for my son and got him well in 9 months.

I am surprised at how many people are afraid of bicillin. Unless getting a shot bothers you? Otherwise it produces great results. Good luck. Jasek

Hi everyone...I'm new to the board. Wanted to comment on the Bicillin. My llmd prescribed it with Lidocain as an option if I wanted to use it for the pain. But, it's just a very mild pain for about 5 minutes....so I don't use it.

I have just heard by so many folks how the painful the shots are and really a shot does not bother me but, I guess people complain because the abx causes lumps and such.
I would have to think injecting it slowly will help.

I do think bicillin is great and I totally recommend it. It does hurt me a great deal to get the shot. My husband makes sure to do it slowly and I usually put music or a show on to distract me.
I have been on it for several weeks and I got my first bump from the medicine not dispersing this past Sunday.
Even though I herx terribly from them I still do them and recommend them. We have already seen it do amazing things.
Just think in the long run it will be worth it, that is what I keep telling myself. Look out for the long run

First we set out the Bicillin for an hour or two to bring it to room temp. Administer slowly. ThenI put an ice pack on immediately after. I have lidocaine but really don't need it. It only hurts for a short while and the ice really helps kill the pain. Walking around helps, too.
