Was just getting some old medical reports together for the homeopathic doctor and noticed the difference in size of the kidneys.
Is this normal? That is a big difference.

And the doctor who ordered the tests never told you this? Typical. That's exactly how I found out about mine too, looking through old medical reports.
My right kidney is smaller than the left one, don't recall by how much. I asked the doctor about it and he basically shrugged his shoulders.

It is cm.
Was thinking they either missed an o or added one.
It must be 10 and not one as i have .9cm echogenic focus in upper pole ventrally.
Going to check what size kidneys are supposed to be.

Hydrophrenosis (sp). That is when one kidney is bigger then the other.

Is it possible that your one kidney is "dead"?
I know this sounds strange to say but after a car accident a CAT scan finally reveled that my left kidney was 'dead'. Upon further testing with a nephrologist we found out that I have an atrophic left kidney that never formed and never has functioned. My right kidney is slightly larger than a normal kidney- and yes a normal kidney is about 10 cm. My right is 15...nice and big right...haha
Anyways, I was 30 when mine was discovered, following several doubts with renal dysfunction that docs could not easily explain and renal failure during pregnancy. So, yes years and year with docs and no one bothered to notice I had NO LEFT KIDNEY! Idiots!

If one kidney is damaged, the adrenal gland that sits on top of that may be as well. If so, that could also explain a lot about fatigue.
If one kidney did not develop, mostly likely, the adrenal gland that sit on top of it like a hat would also not have developed.
Now, those of us with little energy may be shocked but I know of a couple folks who have just one kidney and they can run circles around me. So, my connection may not be fact - or maybe not necessarily. Just a thought as to why adrenal support may be ever more important.
Yes you are completely correct. I cannot take a HUGE list of drugs actually. My kidney levels are tested often- and I am in stage 3 renal failure. Unfortantly there is nothing to do for it- well some diet things to help slow it. Also, I do not have my adrenal gland on the left side at all. So again correct I spent 3 years with a nephrologist whom let me 'go' from care at this point as long as I remain monitored which i am- but when I hit stage 4 then I will have to go back Posted by sparkle7 (Member # 10397) on :

- Sparkle, just the same stuff over and over. Actually, as the adrenals are slave organs, the hypothalamus and the pituitary can drive them both too hard when the whole HPA axis is out of wack, as with lyme. One adrenal (if one has just one kidney) might still be okay - if the other "control board" parts of the HPA axis are brought around to health. ---
arauch2008, I am sorry to hear of your situation. However, you may find different estimations from an expert LLMD. I do hope you find good care. Also, not all herbs are going to be stressful. Some are just a concentrated nourishing food. Of course, those educated in that area are the ones who know the difference. Most doctors just don't have the knowledge.
Do you have a good ND (naturopathic doctor) or acupuncturist around? I know if you are on the kidney donor list, though, that you are under tight restrictions. Still, if infection such as lyme is involved, it must be addressed. A LLMD will know more. It could be that lyme is what is attacking the kidneys. Stop that, and repair might be in the picture.
Please don't just settle for what your doctor said. Ask a few more. In addition to an assessment from a LLMD, a good ND would know about this excellent herb that can help kidney patients thrive:
