I have broken through and no longer am I that person who could not treat this disease.

I used to not be able to handle treatments of abx without herxing severely. I used to not be able to take even supplements or do treatment protocols that were meant for this disease.

I was not able to do detox modalities without feeling sicker too.

I was bedridden a lot and for years and years I was STUCK>

Is this you?

I want to talk about this and say to everyone that this CAN Change. Your body can change. The situation CAN Change!!!

I have changed.
I am now able to treat. My organs are strong and working. My load is down of neurotoxins and lastly bugs.

I am now finally able to treat myself or be treated and feel a positive response.

I think there are many like me out there that are not even able to treat this disease because we are stuck in that Mode I described.

I think it is key that we find what works for us that does 3 things.
1. Brings down Nuerotoxin Load
2. Builds up organs and gets them moving, healthy and working.
3. Bring down load of bugs (last on the list of priorities esp if number one and 2 are not happening)

Those are the 3 things that were key for me.

I actually finally reached out for professional help and was able to do all three at once. But I was given a lot of attention and support.

After 6 Months of this I am a new person

If you are one of those people I described this is a HUGE Deal. And getting there is a huge step and a big challenge.

I read through the threads and always can figure out who is in this group and it makes me frustrated because I can hear the frustration in peoples posts asking how others can tolerate this or that treatment.

Well This Thread is Made for all of those in that same position and maybe through dialog we can help one another get out of that stuck place.

IF others can post what Worked for them if they are OUT Of that stuck place that would be helpful.

For me like I said I went to a clinic and got a ton of supportive IV treatments as well as supplements and detox modalities that were on site. I am now enrolled in a new clinic doing more of the same and also continuing to Treat.

I had lost patience doing it at home alone was not making much progress. I needed help and I reached out to get professional help. By the time the big light bulb went on ( I knew I had to detox but I did not know or admit how bad off I really was in that area ) I had so many years of being stuck and working so hard and was beaten down and tired. I just wanted help and support and did not have energy to figure out what to do or how to do it on my own at that point.

For me that was how I did it. I had all that help. Many do not and will not. But if I had not had that help I would have done it a home but it would have taken longer most likely.

I want to start a list of things that helped me and some are done at home and some are not. It took for me doing more than just a home because I was very bad off and getting worse.

So things that I think help a lot

At Home
1. Detox Baths - as many as you can a day gently
2. Detox Enemas
3. Detox Rife Frequencies
4. Internal items such as clay
5. Prescribed things like welchol or cholestrymine
6. Bounding on rebounder
7. Dry brushing of skin
8. Enough Water (1 oz per 1/2 of your body weight)
9. Walk or do something active if possible
10.Organ support supplements

At Doctors Clinic
1. Laser Lymph Drainage Detox
2. Ozone Sauna
3. Ionic Foot Baths
4. IV Glutithione
5. IV Ozone Blood Treatments
6. Myers Cocktails
7. Vitamin C IV
8. Reiki
9. Energy Healing
10. LED / Photon
11. Accupuncture

You have to experiment and find what works best for you. If you herx a lot then you will have to take breaks inbetween and consider the detox as your treatment. It is a treatment. Once things start moving you will feel it. Your body comes alive and many symptoms improve. The herxes will be less and shorter etc. You will have a more normal GI system and you might even be able to feel those organs moving.. I feel them tingling and feel their energy coming alive..

What I would say is that if you would switch your mind off of the "killing" of the bug. And put it on Detox and Getting Rid of toxins and loads and MOVING of those things out of the body using your organs and body parts that should do this.. then you are making a big change.....

This is just a short start of ideas and Please if others would add in ideas that they have and what helped you.

I want to help others get unstuck and or at least identify that this may be you.

We are so anxious to treat and kill the bugs that we may not be seeing that we may be adding to our loads of toxins and if our systems are shut down we are just adding to the problem instead of helping it.

This is all just my opinion and I am not telling anyone what to do. IT also has been my experience so I wanted to share it. In now way am I telling you to do this or that it is what needs to be done for sure.

For some maybe this is not your situation either.

But either way we all know detox is helpful and for some of us very necessary.

For me it was 100 percent necessary and I still made it a priority every single day just to keep up my progress I made. I do not have to do as much or work as hard as before but I have to do something every day and pay attention to it as the top of my list of things to do ..

Thank you so much for starting this thread Spring. I am right where you were several years ago. I have been on abx for about 8 months and suffered terribly while on them. I have now been off of them for five weeks and just detoxing.

I am feeling better but can now see that many of the times I thought I was herxing, I was simply filled with neurotoxins and reacting to that.

I am also waiting for my KPU test to come back.

My body still feels toxic, but I am using Welchol daily, the ginger bath from Dr. J., Infared Sauna, clean diet and am about to try the foot bath from Dr. J.

I have an appt with my naturapath who is an LLND on Friday to determine what to do next. I am leaning towards detoxing for six months and using Dr. J.'s protocol

At lease off abx, I can function and I have been able to work some AND my attitude and brain is so much more positive.

I am of the persuasion that we shouldn't have to herx to get well--that has never made sense to me--it goes against my belief working with the universe in a gentle way to get well. Call me naive or what you will--I know I will get naysayers out there--I know the science--I've read everything too--but for me--I need to work with my body, not throw it under the train.

And as long as I will be called blasphemous--not from you, but others, I don't believe abx is the end all be all to getting well. It can be done differently. And I applaud all those who have done that--Gary who went to the Hansa Center and the AI thread people, and you with IPT. Thank you for being the trailblazers.

I think herxing may be an indication that you are hitting something. The tests are so inaccurate - we need something to know if we are doing the right treatment. I don't think it should be a continuous thing, though.

In my case, LEDs were making me worse. They don't always help everyone. I think they can be harmful with babesia or parasites.

My favorite detox formula is Dr. Schulze's #2 Intestinal Formula.

IV hydrogen peroxide did not help me. I also tried some vitamin IVs & Immunoglobulin shots & they didn't do much.

Thanks for posting!

Spring,

I have said for a long time that I feel nutritional support is just about as important as killing agents whether they are antibiotics or herbs or whatever.

For hubby -- As I have also mentioned many times -- whenever he stops his supplements he almost always crashes very quickly. For many years I had no idea why -- then he did the genetic detox profile from Great Smokies -- now Genova Diagnostics.

He has a methylation defect -- he is missing 1 of 2 genes needed for proper methylation -- so obviously it could be worse than it is. The supplements hubby needs to take to correct this are SAM-e and B12 and B6 and B complex and folic or folinic acid. He also takes betaine hydrochloride to help with absorption from food. It took a lot of experiementation over the years to get the right doses of these supplements.

Next is glutathione -- hubby took IV glutathione for probably 4 years I think at over $100 - $200 per month after insurance paid their part. His current LLMD who is a nutritionist suggested the Xymogen brand of alpha lipoic acid (ALA Max). It costs $49 per month from the doc, but it works. He also takes selenium which is another glutathione precursor -- very cheap -- 200 mg per day. I remember one doc who is into kinesiology jokingly told hubby he might as well drink glutathione he was so deficient in it.

Will come back to this thread as there are several other things I want to add.

Hi there. Thanks for posting.

You have seemed to find your post Imaginit. Sounds great and let us know how it all goes.

Sparkle. When we use the word herx we use it loosely. And I think that a real herx is rare in Lyme Disease. Even though you may think it is from hitting or killing a bug it still is a response of that killing and the neurotoxins it is creating.

So if you already have a build up you will add to it and feel it more so.

I think that those how do not have build up of toxins treat and feel no herx and just feel better and better. Not only are they able to detox well but they do not have build up because of that. Therefore no feeling worse.

I think that is is wrong to think herxes are good. IF you use them for an indicator and they are something like a twinge of pain in a joint or a tired afternoon then that is ok and not harmful and a good tool.

If you end up in bed for a week after trying a new supplement that is not good. WE got to keep it perspective and also think about what is going on inside of us. I know there is not exact science but I have heard from many doctors whom I respond out there in the lyme world who say it is all nuerotoxins that are giving us those feelings and affects. IF so then what I am saying makes sense.

So I think it is very well a good expectation to treat and to KNOW You are using the Right thing because You are FEELING BETTER and not from a HERX>

See the complete 180 There??

Bea - Do you recall how much the DetoxiGenomic Profile was?

Do you think it was accurate? Do you think these things can be corrected?

PS - There's alot of info here -

Whoa......spring - gotta watch this advice. You are sounding a lot like me.......

And I have apparently been a bad boy for recommending detoxing + improving specific organ health. BEFORE the kill kill kill obsession.

And I love this quote from Imaginit: "I need to work with my body, not throw it under the train."

Here in the US so many expect quick results, as repetitive BigPharma has sold - oooops I mean told - us. [cussing] [loco]

Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :

Well Massman

I think it is good advice and not only good advice I do not see how you can make progress if you keep adding to your load and when the load that is already there is not even dumping out.

SO looks like the unload button is broken.
GOt to fix that button first.
Then hit it and let whats inside the truck dump out into the trash dump.

Then clean out the truck and get it ready for more now that it is working you can go around and gather up more trash and you can also even go around and sweep the trash up into pills so that it is off the street and put it into your truck.

And make sure to keep dumping the truck at the trash dump before it gets too full and overflows.

Button = Organs and Immune system
Truck = Movement
Trash = Toxins
Dump = Waste - out of body gone
Overflow = Pain and Sickness

Sparkle,

Hubby did the Great Smokies genetic detox test back in 2002 when the company first introduced it and it was a special price -- only $200 I think -- pretty sure the cost is about double that now.

There are several different companies which do these type of tests. But the old Great Smokies lab (now called Genova Diagnostics) is the only one hubby has used. Pretty sure others on LymeNet have used other labs.

What we liked about the Genova test is that they only test for things which can be corrected by nutritional supplementation or diet or avoiding certain meds etc. In other words things you can actually do something about.

I remember checking prices for the Amy Yasko genetic tests once -- think I have that name right. Very expensive.

Also -- since this is a genetic test insurance will not pay anything on it as far as I know.

Sparkle,

Another useful test from Genova that hardly anyone talks about anymore is the functional Detox Profile -- this is not a genetic test but a test of how well the body is detoxing. It measures Phase I and Phase II liver function and several of the different pathways.

Also includes info on lipid peroxides (fats being destroyed by free radicals -- an indirect measure of brain inflammation) and glutathione production I think.

This test used to cost around $200 I think -- hubby has had this one done 3 or 4 times over the years. And insurance will pay some on this one. As Spring has mentioned you could simply have one of the detox pathways that is not functioning properly -- usually caused by nutritional deficiencies.

This is a great thread, spring! Thanks for starting this. I love what you're bringing round here.

So, for the past couple months, I started with supplements, a great diet, and exercise and lifting weights 3x a week. Well, to be fair, I never let Lyme stop me from doing that stuff, even though I had to PUSH myself into the Gym -- the place I love to be.

I started my ABX regimen roughly 4 weeks ago, and things are starting to ramp up as I add more to the protocol.

I'm still really concerned about detoxing and making sure this goes as smooth as possible. I have been eating whole lemons, drinking 6-10 bottles of water daily, taking milk thistle supplements, fish oil, glucosamine, and all the vitamins I need.

I need to take it to the next step.

I hear Epsom salt baths are great for detoxing. Problem is I tried one a few years back, and after 15 minutes I had a headache and was sick for days!

I want to try it again. Do you have a recommendation for a starter bath? Maybe using 1/2 cup of Epsom salt in the tub? Only staying for a few minutes? How should I approach this.

And if you were in my position, what other detoxing method what you try next?

Thanks, spring!

Love,

Wolf

Killing bugs HELPS support organs as well.

Pretty tough to support an infiltrated organ.

All 3 are important in no particular order.

Typically when you see an LLMD all 3 are addressed at the same time! And it only makes sense.

HI Wolfed.. Thanks for adding to the thread and your compliment. Nice to hear!!

Ok I read through your thread and right off the bat this is something my doctor told me and it was to Never Use Epsom Salt.

I know many do and this has not been told to everyone by their doctors but mine did. Also No Magnesium Supplements. He believes that it feeds the bugs and you feel worse.

Since you felt worse I would first skip that Epsom Salts all together. If your starting baths I would first start with just plain water and soak for a nice long time in hot but not too hot water. I would also dry brush your whole body starting from the outside working your way in prior to the bath. Important to do it dry.

Then see how you react just that. If you do ok then I would add just sea salt. Hymalayian or some sort of natural sea salt. IT will have natural minerals but not enough to be an issues like epsom obviously.

Then other things you can add are various things and recently some posted about adding fresh ginger in some sort of seep bag.

You can also add things like peroxide or vinegar etc. Some things are more likely to absorb and actually kill off some of the bugs and give you a herx and some are more gentle and more used to pull out toxins in the body and give relief.

I would go for the detox methods first... and be as gentle as you can and then later if you like do some more aggressive ones. IF you do a search on baths or detox baths there are many kinds posted her and online overall.

I really enjoy and have to have at least one of baths each day. If you can stay in 30 to 45 minutes and also close the doors and heat up the room too..

I happen to not have a sauna but looking for one. If you have one at your gym I would recommend that too. I have done some at gyms and at clinics I got to by do not have one at home..

The other thing that is really good is a rebounder or tramp. If you just bounce up and down gently it will move the toxins so they get out....I only do that one time a week right now but it can actually be quite affective.

Since your in the gym maybe there is something there too that will give you that affect or an actually rebounder or tramp?

If you do just the baths or saunas or both.. Soaking is different than a sauna and I would do both. And the gentle bouncing those are great additions.

Your got a good amount of water. And rule Of thumb I use is to drink at least 1/2 body weight in oz of water..

Do you have a rife machine? If so there are ways to use that for detox support too..

I really have those ideas even though I think I am forgetting something.

Oh I wanted to add.. Caster Oil Packs. I just started to try them and they are supposed to work really well. I am putting one on my liver and gut area at night when I sleep. Be careful cuz it stains so make sure you really set it up so there are no leaks and wrap it around yourself with like an ace bandage. That can really pull out toxins and the gut just is an area that is where I like to target and the low back.

Each person seems to carry the toxins in various places and can usually tell by increased pain and stiffness or such.

I really am not a expert at any of this and just apply what I have learned from doctors and clinics and from reading and sharing here.

If you want to take the lemons to another level you can blend a whole lemon with a couple table spoons of olive oil and a little bit of water or juice such as cranberry.
Then strain it and drink it direct. It packs a nice punch and very good for during herxing or detoxing. It gets the juices from the whole lemon and adding in the oil helps a lot. I got that off Dr. Nicholsons page online.

Well anyway..Good Luck and let me know how it goes. Esp with those baths. I can bet that taking away the epsom will help you and make sure it does not feel too too hot and work your way up in temp and time as you go.

Blessing...

You sound like you have a great plan and your working hard at the things that important..

What meds are you on? and is this the first time you have been treated.? Just starting 4 weeks ago?

Canefan

Yes this is true and good point.

But there are some people who actually Cant and then order does at that time make sense and is important.

I have been there and I know what it feels like> For others who have not felt what that is like can only speculate and its hard to visualize but it happens to many of us.

So treating "killing" has to be put on the back burner until space is cleared up for it and or the organs are stronger...

THere are many times when doing all 3 are not possible and or do not make sense..

I think those people who know how it feels know who I am talking to..

For others it does not makes sense because if your not in that position and are able to detox and such and able to make progress and not end up suffering tremendously and just have normal herxes etc.. Then by all means. Do all three

I am at the point I can do all three.

But I was not this way until this last year...

Anyway I started this thread a bit more for those who cant because I think they are not talked about and left to try to figure this out and try to do what others to and it just does not work.

I want to talk to them and tell them they are not alone!..

Your not alone!!

Spring,

Thanks very much for the detailed reply! I will certainly research all the suggestions you posted and test out what is best for me.

What really intrigues me is the vinegar suggestion. See, I found out foods were causing problems for me, and solved the issue as being a mold intolerance. I had an allergy test done that came back positive for Penicillium and Alternaria Tenius molds allergies. So, I had to go on a mold elimination diet; which includes foods or drinks that are fermented and have potential to grow molds (i.e. alcohol, cheese, mushrooms, tomato sauce, vinegar and vinegar products like ketchup, barbecue sauce, etc...).

One night about 2 months ago, I decided to take a shot of vinegar to alleviate an indigestion problem I was having on the advice of one of my friends. When I woke up the next day, I felt like I was completely out of this world and had some intense peripheral problems.

Now, I'm wondering if I had some kind of herx reaction to the vinegar. In other words, did Lyme disease create some kind of positive allergy that would come up through testing in order to protect itself, or guard against me using it as a treatment.

If that isn't clear, if Cat's Claw is extremely effective at killing Lyme, would having an allergy test to Cat's Claw be positive if you suffered from Lyme Disease?

Just some thoughts I want to share. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone.

Peace,

Wolf

What a great idea. A continual thread on just detox support. I'm happy happy happy. Thanks Spring!!!!!!!!!!!

Many of us post about the importance of detoxing and not just throwing abx at this illness. But to be able to go to one thread and read read read.

Priceless!!!! [group hug] [group hug]

I completely disagree with this!!! And so do most of the LLMDs who've put their protocols out there. By all means, let's starve the human being of a needed nutrient, in order to kill a bug! STUPID!

Just wanted to say "Thanks so much" for starting this thread. I have been so sick and unable to tolerate abx or most any other treatment and I think it is because I am so toxic. I am looking for ways to detox and this thread has given me so many ideas. Thanks again.

The body needs mag for over 300 processes.

You simply cannot allow the body to remain depleted.

Posted by seibertneurolyme (Member # 6416) on :

Ping -- I agree. For all those newbies out there the doc Springshowers sees is just about the only LLMD who says not to take magnesium. The vast majority of LLMD's say most people are deficient in this mineral to begin with and the infections increase the deficiency.

I know when hubby started taking epsom salts baths they would aggravate his tremors and seizure-like episodes. But as he continued with the baths these symptoms went away. Now he no longer needs the baths on a regular basis since he takes oral magnesium supplements. As with any supplement start slow and gradually increase as tolerated -- applies to epsom salts baths as well.

Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate. Magnesium is needed for at least a couple of hundred functions in the body. Sulphur is used in one of the detox pathways.

Obviously if one is deficient in either magnesium or sulphur and starts taking those supplements then there can be a reaction. But as the deficiency decreases the body clears the toxins and resumes normal functioning.

A red blood cell mineral test for magnesium is the best way to measure this mineral level. Probably any lab can do this test.

By all means talk to your doctors and do your own research on the magnesium. Yes I follow my doctors advice and it has worked out for me.

I am not depleted in magnesium actually either. I am normal with my test for it but I also do not supplement or add extra for it.

So each person should evaluate this for yourselves. I am by not means trying to tell anyone what to do for sure.. Just sharing what i am told and what I do and have experienced.

But ultimately maybe for now or in the Epsom Salt Baths he should hold off on that and be more gentle to tolerate them to start with.

So thanks everyone for your inputs.

Does anyone have any other ideas on Detoxing Methods that have worked for you and details on how you did it or do it and or take it etc?

I wanted to say I have really done well on bentonite clay too. Even in short bouts if I am feeling really toxic and I take about 1 tablespoon two times a day for a week here and there. I can very much tell the differnce. With this stuff too much is not good either and long durations I think would be no good either..Just again from my own experiences.

But if I am herxing or having a bad week etc. It has really really been helpful and I always have a bottle of it. The thing is you can really feel the affects quickly too and its obvious..

Worth having around for sure.

Thanks

IF you go here
http://www.lymeinfo.net/alt.html

You can skroll down and find a 18 page document by Dr K on how to eliminate toxins from the body.

It is long but in short he divides it up by
1. What to intake for foods Protiens,Minerals, fatty acids and fluid
2. Cilantro
3. Chlorella
4. Garlic and Wild Garlic
5. Fish Oil
He gives dosing and exact methods and this first part is inclusive of heavy metals and chemicals and overall toxins we accumulate in life.

Then he has section on just Lyme nuerotoxins
1. Quinolinic acid
2. Gossypol:
3. Life Changes
4. Upregulation of virulence factors
And much more and hard to list here as he writes in paragraphs etc.

He then talks about mold toxins and how to handle those and goes onto mycotoxins. He then includes great tips that compare symptoms of lyme toxins to mold toxins or mycotoxins and that is very helpful as well other tips.

This is very details but you can get a great overview and eduction just by reading it through.

Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :

This is also a great page to read. It is not exactly Detox but in some ways it is.

It tells you why you have and how to fix these
1. Lack of Good Appetite

2. Lack of Good Digestion

3. Toxic colon - ``unhealthy'' stools and urine

4. Low body temperature (below 98.6 F)

5. Lack of deep restful sleep

The relationships is that it talks about toxic colon and toxins and how it affects some of the above and how to detox or change things to improve all the above.

Spring, I want to thank you for posting this. I truly hope that you don't get attacked for sharing this information. I couldn't agree with you more on nearly everything you've said.

I'm in the position you described in your initial post: Antibiotics send me straight to the ER, supplements have even incapacitated me, I have not been able to leave my house in over 7 months, and I spend 80% of my day on my bed. You give people like me hope. So thank you...thank you so much.

I wanted to also add, that people in our situations might want to consider the homeopathic route for detox. When you're so sick, and so sensitive, and so very fragile, they're often the easiest to tolerate. That's all I can tolerate right now, but that's okay with me because I do have hope and feel like I can make some headway on them.

Thank you thank you thank you, for being brave enough to talk about this.

Hello Little Lymie.

I so can relate. I am sorry you have been through so much and bedridden so much. I can relate big time.

I am getting a lot of emails and support and support here for this thread and your comments too.

I am not brave to post this. I am just being real and I wish someone had identified me and with me years ago and along the way.

We do not all "fit" into the same pod and that is obvious. But specifically this defined group who are stuck and not able to move through any treatments sticks out to me.

I think we are too overloaded. Not to just say your toxic and have to detox. But overload of many things.

Many things including toxins and nuerotoxins including environmental and energetic and emotional all included.

Some is from genetic issues and some is from years of exposures and some we just kept ignoring this issue and kept trying to treat and adding to the bucket of toxins in our bodies with no way out.

This thread if mostly for them but also for anyone who wants to gather ideas for supporting themselves at what ever stage of treatment they are in.

WE all talk about detox a lot. Just it is kinda thrown around as a word that we all know we need to do.

I think ideas and suggestions and things that have worked for others is a great place to start.

There are many categories of detox like those documents I posted.

But to start out with I would make a simple list of the things that people like us HAVE To have in our daily lives to keep things moving and to help support the body to detox.

Things like water and baths seem simple but if you just start with those two while researching for what to add it can make a big difference ..

I had thought I did not need my baths after stopping the aggresive treatment I was on. I was soooo wrong. I am back at it luckily and still can tell the difference every single day every single time I do it. Thats a big deal. How many things can you actually say you feel the difference.

When your very loaded it seems nothing is helping and you can barely feel a treatment and if you do you feel worse and never better..

I want to emphasis even the small things done consistently can be very powerful.

It is hard to be consistent when your so sick. That is why you got to start with small steps and small things and work your way up.

Will be back with some info on that Clay. I got to find a couple things and will post them ..

I am starting coffee enemas for the first time in my life. Am using organic. I will use 1 a day to start, and have heard they are safe and excellent at detox.

Is there anything I should be careful about?

Thank you for starting this thread. I am starting led detox treatments of the 29th, with a burbur tincture I'm supposed to use. I don't do well with tintures because of the alcohol, even If i place it in boiling water. Is is worth going through this treatment?

thanks, diana

I have used now two kinds of clay but a friend sent me this quote
"Bentonite clay from yerba prima is the best safest and cleanest. Vitacost has cheap...32 oz bottle."
So I am going to try that brand now.

I first used Sonne's Organic #7 it is called. I ordered that online. Then I found some at my local Sun Flower Market. That brand was called Great Plains. Not sure what the difference is exactly of safest and cleanest.

From my own experience I was able to start at about 1 tsp 2x a day working up to 1 tbs 2x a day and that is as much as I ever did. I also did not do it ongoing or constantly. A week to 10 days in a row at most for me. And or during bad herx times.

Look below and there are ideas in the articles on how to use it and even adding to your detox baths.

Here is an article called "The Proper Way To Use Bentonite Clay"

I've only used the coffee enemas when I've done a parasite cleanse. I'm not really into enemas but some people do quite well with them. I thought they were helpful after the parasite cleanses to remove debris & jump start the liver.

Maybe some of the people into them can respond...?

Detox is a really big part of any Lyme treatment. It's probably something like... 1/3 killing, 1/3 supporting, & 1/3 detox.

I'm not in the mindset to be too detailed right now - otherwise, I'd probably post more.

Good idea to have a detox thread! It's probably underestimated how important this is... Along with exercise - when people are able to do it.

I'm very stuck. Currently I'm treating myself for digestive issues which works, but I need a professional in detoxification.

Whey Protein + NAC helps me a great deal. It is my staple. Although I can't take too much in one day or I feel worse instead of better. I've been doing these for a while, and while I have had major setbacks, if I look at the big picture there is progress.

I was healthier before trying antibiotics, and now I am in a toxic tailspin. I know it's toxicity since my supplements for detox work better than my beta blocker, a lot of times better than my benzos, etc. In fact, these supplements help my prescription meds work like they should.

Now my CNS is still severely messed up. It's been better the last week or so, but I never know when those bad days will hit.

I don't know where to go. I feel lost. I've been trying everything lately. I think my best solution would be to go to another state. But who do I see.

Thanks for the post spring. I just want to follow you around and learn all I can. I am copying and pasting this in my notes on supplements.

Do you take the Bentonite clay while you are on abx? I bought activated charcoal (I meant to buy the clay). I have not taken it because I am on Mepron and I feel that it would suck up the benefits of the medicine.

Do you do these detox measures while you do abx or do you wait until a break in the abx to do them?

I would like to try IV Glutithione. I am going to hit my doctor up for that next visit. Do you take these types of IVs away from medicine or does it not really matter.

I feel like a neophyte when it comes to detox.

Spring,

Here is a link to add to this thread. I have never been to this doc and know nothing about her practice. But it is a very good overview of some of the things discussed here.

http://www.tinyurl.com/yf4pqkg

I think the G.I. issue sometimes is not emphasized enough. If someone has leaky gut from candida or food allergies or parasites or gastritis from h.pylori or bart then meds will not be absorbed correctly by the body and food etc will contribute greatly to overall body inflammation. There is even a book called Brain Allergies I think it is that discusses how poor G.I. function can even affect brain function.

The problem of course is to determine if the G.I. symptoms are actually caused by lyme or bart in which case the appropriate antibotics will actually improve G.I. function. But there are times when healing the G.I. must be one of the top priorities. Especially with weight loss which generally means nutrients are not being properly absorbed which will slow down detox and start a downward spiral.

Thanks for adding that site. Its a good one and if someone is in CA you can add it to your list of who you might want to see.

I have been getting a lot of emails asking to find doctors who do this supportive type therapy for Detox on a professional level and also treat lyme or maybe not.

I added to my thread in finding a doctor and If you do some of the search suggestions and make calls you will find someone. I Have found many lists of a few people already to call. There are many m ore people around doing this sort of thing than we think. When I started to really look my list just got bigger and bigger

Here is that thread

Haley..

Well I have always fit in detox because I have had to during taking any treatments. Sometimes it is harder than others. But you can do it.

THings like Clay and Welchol or Cholestrymine have to be taken away from other things.

If you take your meds at least one to two hours prior and or two to four hours after you should be ok. I wrote the range because I have read both and I just figured I would put it that way.

I have a sluggish GI track and therefore I do mine where I take the meds at least 2 hours prior and then I wait at least 4 hours after.

IF you use that guideline you should be ok.

Kday I know the feeling of when you detox the other meds start working like they should. I was amazed as my pain meds started to work better and I could feel them working and even maybe too much!! And my sleep meds or even supplements I might take I was much more aware of them and they felt like they should be (or so I Think).

Typcially while overloaded I would feel NOTHING. I would take this and that and this and that and i never knew if it was doing anything> I thought to myself that it must be but I am too feeling ill to notice. THat might be part of it too.

Also the GI comment is very true and there are many issues and considerations and the GI is a huge place for the immune function as well as absorbing as well as detox. Its very important.

I had ordered some books that give you step by step and day by day workbook on how to restore your gut. It was one of those PBS special speakers and I can not remember the name of the lady doctor. I did it once way back when and I really need to pull those book out and go through it again.

SO much to do. SO little time.

Its exhausting just being sick let along self treating all the time.

I have been trying to find that balance myself.

Blessing to all and thanks for the support on this thread. Not sure why there wouldnt be or why there have been comments that indicate controversy but I do not worry about that stuff.

There are literally thousands of posts at lymenet about detox issues. You can find many of them by using the search facility button towards the top of the page directly under the "post a poll" button.

There are many different types of detox problems that a person can have. Every person is different in what their specific problems are. One person may have many of these issues like me, some very lucky people (well, as lucky as one can be with lyme disease that is) may have only the normal problems that lyme causes (biotoxins, excess heavy metals when borrelia dies, extra intracellular debri and overly burdened detox organs) and some people will be somewhere in the middle.

Each problem will require a different treatment. This means that if you have a problem getting rid of biotoxins, you must use the appropriate type of detox (binders), no other type will work. This is similar for many of these issues.

I'll just add things as I have time. You should be able to find posts here at lymenet on all of these issues.

Genetic issues

porphyria (there are several kinds)

KPU (a type of poryphyria)

this thread has a lot of links for both KPU and other porphyria's

Methylation cycle
depending on your specific mutations you can have impaired glutathione making detox very hard, excess ammonia and sulfites, impaired folate metabolism, inability to effeciently get rid of heavy metals, more robust parasitic infections, difficulty deactivating viruses and many other problems.

Methylation panel?
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/77338?

Biotoxins
Anyone who has lyme will have to deal with biotoxins because they are created when borrelia dies (naturally or we kill it). Borrelia toxins are very toxic and this is a big part of why we feel so sick when we are killing borrelia.

Some of us do not make enough antibodies to efficiently get rid of borrelia toxins. Some can have added problems with other biotoxins like toxins from mold. Borrelia toxins can make us very sick and those of us with this problem may never get well unless we take a binder to help our body bind to and excrete these toxins.

Intracellular toxins

A number of TBI's (Tick Borne Infections) are intracellular. The pathogens can live and die inside the cell. Our cell walls can be damaged by borrelia. This may make it harder for us to get the toxins out of our cells.

There is a test called a c3d immune complex. I was told that many lyme patients are abnormal. Mine was extremely high which means that my cells were full of debri. The only thing I could find that seemed to relate to my situation was a slide presentation that didn't go into detail but looked like this might be related to a herx.
http://www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk/conf2006/meer/img26.html

Drainage remedies are generally given to help drain the debri from the cells.

Pekana drainage remedies
http://www.naturalhealinghouse.com/pekana_drainage.htm

Deseret Biologicals drainage remedies.
http://www.desbio.com/drainage-remedies.html

The most powerful drainage remedies that I've used to date are made from plant buds/embryonic materials and they are a class of drainage remedies called gemmotherapy. I've heard them referred to as plant stem cell therapy. There is a German brand called gemmo that I found extremely helpful. I'd still be using it if I could get it here. You can get it from certain practioners here in the U.S., I just don't happen to be seeing anyone that has them at the moment.

There are other brands of gemmotherapy. Apparently Dolisos has started making them and another brand that I've used is called Unda. Looks like many more are coming on the market recently.

A doctor has a program for helping to repair the cell walls and to help with detox. She is well aware of lyme disease.

I am the poster child for genetic detox problems. I am positive that I would not be able to tolerate the antibiotic and herbal treatments that have helped me so much if it weren't for my LLMD figuring out that I have many of the issues that I listed above.

I have significant methylation issues, the dreaded genotype for biotoxins and my c3d test results were the higest my LLMD had seen.

The fact that I had all these issues explains why for so many years I couldn't tolerate antibiotics at all. I avoided them at all costs because they made me so sick and sometimes I'd be sick for months afterwards.

For most of my life, I thought I was allergic to most antibiotics and so did many of my doctors. Turns out I wasn't allergic but I had untreated lyme disease since age 5 and many problems getting rid of the toxins that are created with borrelia die-off. For many years, the only antibiotic that I could tolerate was keflex which I later learned is one that doesn't treat lyme disease.

Because of my genetic problems with borrelia, mold and spider bite toxins, I'll be on a binder for the rest of my life.

For the biotoxins we use actos to downregulate cytokines and allow me to be able to use cholestyramine. According to Dr. S., actos can be a gene therapy of sorts but more importantly it can allow lyme patients to tolerate cholestyramine, the drug that is used to bind biotoxins and remove them from the body.

There are over the counter binders that one can use if you can't get cholestyramine or can't tolerate it. I've tried most of them but usually go back to cholestyramine.

beta sitosterol
cholestepure
modified apple pectin
Activated Charcoal (supposedly 62% as effective as Cholestyramine)
micronized chitosan
Sarsparilla (per Dr. K)
Butyrate
"The oral use of butyrate, a short 4-carbon chain fatty acid, is of striking benefit (Fusunyan et al 1998, Segain et al 1983, Yin et al 2001) in mobilizing renegade fats, lowering TNFalpha, sequestering ammonia, and clearing biotoxins."

I'm breaking this up into several posts divided by problem so hopefully it will be easier to read.

Terry K - Speaking of detox and methylation (I'm still reading your links, so bear with me), what is your opinion of trimethyl glycine (TMG)? Anybody using it?

Posted by ping (Member # 6974) on :

TerryK, can't find a reference of any kind re: TMG in your links... Any info would be helpful. Doing searches for this too. Thanks!

Posted by TerryK (Member # 8552) on :

I can't use TMG because I am COMT ++ for 2 SNP's so I don't know much about it. In a nutshell, what this means is that those like me may have mood swings, panic attacks and bi-polar symptoms with supplements that are methyl donors like TMG.

You should be able to find information at either of the Yasko groups. You will need to join to read and ask questions.

HERBS TO HELP THE LIVER

Excerpts:

. . . The important thing to remember is that the liver is a hot (metabolically active) organ, and so tends to get congested and inflamed. . . .

PROTECTION

Turmeric root, wheat sprouts, schisandra berries, amla fruit, beet root and milk thistle seed are among the major sources of protective anti-oxidants for the liver cells, as are fruits that contain flavonoids, especially citrus fruits.

These should be used to prevent development of inflammatory disease, or for damage protection as in the case of persons taking strong chemical drugs or undergoing chemotherapy. . . .

DEFICIENCY

The liver can become weakened and deficient. If this is not corrected, it can lead to liver atrophy and depletion of glycogen stores, even hepatitis. Signs include fatigue, low blood pressure, hypoglycemia, dry eyes, headache, heat symptoms and irritability . . . .

HEAT & INFLAMMATION

To remove excess liver inflammation with heat signs or toxins . . . .

PAIN

If there is liver inflammation with signs of pain and tension, use herbs that calm the liver and move the blood . . . .

TerryK - Very kind of you to answer my posts, thank you. As for what I need to know, I'm not sure of that answer. Only to say that I'm trying to learn more about methylation cycle and exactly what role in methyl donation TMG plays, dosage info, toxicity info and just general items such as you posted, like inability to take TMG due to methyl donation. Simple stuff, I know, but it's so scattered, I'm having a bear of a time getting it all in one place. Thought you might have had a link (LinkMaster you are!).

Looking through Dr. K.'s info, etc. Would really like to hear from more posters like you who are sensitive to this.

Thanks again, Terry.

I'm so grateful for this thread after feeling that folk here felt that there was something strange about me when I have tried remedies and they have not worked.

I try things and get nowhere. I had some tests done which show that I am chock full of metals and toxins especially arsenic and lead.

I have been trying to get my food intolerances sorted out as I felt this was the first step and got to gluten dairy lectin sugar and anti-thyroid vegetables free diet but now think that I have developed a rice allergy. So now I wonder if I should do the rotation diet. Today I excluded rice and feel lousy. One thing about rice I found is that it is sometimes contaminated with arsenic. I was using rice protein and brown rice milk but that maybe why the allergy - too much of it.

I am finding it hard to keep going but hopefully I will respond to the rice exclusion. It was one of the main parts of my rapidly reducing diet. I will start on the baths though and drink more. I even had a bad reaction to the electrolite drink others use. It is stupid but I feel ashamed because nothing helps. Thanks again.

ping, as far as the methylation cycle and TMG, I think it is used to bring down homocysteine levels which can be impacted by MTHFR C677T. It also supports the liver. Another name for it is anhydrous betaine so you might try searching for that too.

Terry

gwb - it's not that hard... just kind of weird at first but it is helpful. This website explains how to do it -

http://www.sawilsons.com/basicenema.htm

It wasn't a cure all for me but it was good to do after a parasite cleanse. I think someone brought this up (on this thread or another thread) but detoxing after a parasite cleanse is important, too.

TerryK - thanks for all the great info! Maybe you should write a book about it? All of that stuff is so complicated. It would be nice to see something written in layman's terms.

Sometimes it's too much to start researching all of that. I don't know where to begin.

Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :

Hello. Once you get doing the enemas you will feel the benefit and it sounds weird but you will even enjoy them. : ) !! Ha But really. IT is worth doing it. and just follow the directions. You can start out using just warm water and see how you do and then try other things.

This is great and Thank you all for adding to the thread. Yeah we all know we can search and dig for this info but it is great to gather it all into one place and be able to read through it back and forth and get it into one spot. So thank you all and keep it up.

ALso for those who keep posting saying they appreciate even being acknowledged and feeling like they were the odd ones out and things were not working that are working for others.. Your not alone and though there is a way out of it. IT might not feel like it but when you find the right combination and concentrate on finding that way to cleanse and detox and also support your immune system and organs etc.. You will know it and things will start flowing. Its like a light bulb going on. It is hard work no doubt.

I takes commitment and persistence and consistency. I found that when I was so very ill I wanted to just lay there and not move and I skipped the things I should do. I started to MAKE Myself get in that tub. I said to myself if I can lay in bed I can Lay in the tub. Even though that felt like a ton of work in itself I talked myself into it and did it at least two times a dsy. I measured out the water I needed to take in and I have 3 quart size bottles I fill up in the Am and those HAVE TO be gone by the next am. I always use water to take my meds and well that takes up half the water!!

If You take one goal at a time and write it down and then once you are in a rhythm ad another things. Do not try to do too many at once or you will not follow through. There s some psychology that plays into this and that mind set sometimes we have that says if I can not do it all the way or all of it then I just will not do it at all. Sometimes that can be what happens and we give up.

Like when we try a diet we say I will start tomorrow because today I did not do it so I just will not even try today. Do not let that stop you from doing what you can each day. It will add up faster than you think and do much more good than you think.

I am now working in taking walks and my rebounder tramp. I want to take one every day for at least 10 minutes and 5 of the rebounder. And right now I am only doing it about 2x a week. If I am trying I do not get down on myself. Some are old habits coming back where I say I just do not "feel" good. I am so lucky to not be laying in bed like I used to and crawl to the tub crying so I should remind myself of those things too.

Anyway that is my little pep talk and reminder of the games our mind play and as well as being ok with the small steps we can take and taking them! For me this is the order and how I built up to my current protocol.

From HERE DOWN is WHERE I AM AND HOW I Got There!

My Protocol in order and it took me about 6 months to really get serious and work up to this in this order one by one or sometimes two. It looks like a lot but I did it one step at a time and did not add anything until I felt ready to.

Diet - Did a full elimination diet where I ate nothing that came up on my allergy testing and ate nothing white or processed at all. I restested and even more indepth 3 months later and showed NO Allergies at all to foods. I have kept that diet up about 75 percent and have added some things back in that are veggies and fruits etc. Still no whites and no dairy and no grains besides brown rice. Whole real live foods from the ground. If I buy it and I can not see where it came from the earth I do not get it. So nothing processed. This was a huge big step in cleansing when I thought it was about my allergies.

Baths 30 min- Daily 1 to 2 times

Water - 1 oz per 1/2 body weight in lbs

Lemon Water and lemon oil drinks 1 whole lemon each - 1 to 2 times a day

Coffee 1 cupe - 1 x a day organic and with something like Miralax. I had to do this daily to keep my bowels moving. I have balsy of the gut and it was very important and still is to keep things Moving. For me fiber did not do it and no stimulants work because of how slow it is and I would cramp up up above or at my stomach. SO this is the combo that worked for me. Find what works for you if you have this issue and as gently as possible. It is very important to detox as if you do not the things in your gut will and can absorb back into your system again..

Body Scrubs 5 min- Before each bath

Bentonite Clay 2 tbls worked up to - 2x a day pulsing about 1 week a month now

Enemas - Rotate coffee with gentle salt water - 2x a week and I do not think more that that is good for me

Welchol/Cholestrymine - 1 to 2 times a day away from all other supplements pulsing at another
week away from clay week. 6 tablets of Welchol or 1 scoop of Cholestrymine. I have both so want to use them up. Not planning on getting another after these are done though and feel I can do without these two if I use clay as time goes on.

Rife - Detox frequencies at the least 3x a week working up to every other day.

Ionic Foot Baths 30 to 45 min - 1x to 2x a week. Working on going up to every other day and plan on that for 3 months before reducing back again.
Buying my own bath and got it in yesterday

Walks 10min - 2x a week working up to daily

Rebounder Tramp 5 min - 1 x a week and working my way up and trying to do this along with walks since I am in that mode.

Thats it for me right now.

I do add in B complex vitamins and such after reading about the blockages that some have and what they are taking for it but have not been tested or read up enough about it to be able to talk about it. Thanks for all the info here though.

I want to add in some of the things on Dr K's document that are things like cilantro and chorella and those sorts of things (maybe) I am doing pretty good now and do not want to add too much.. Also gut cleanses and doing parasite cleansing as I do those only maybe 2 x a year actually. I use herbals supplements and a good few weeks of Salt C too. I am sure I am forgetting something and though now that I typed that it seems like a lot. I am proud of myself now that I look back and see myself so stuck and see what I have been doing now and those are all on my own. Many are doctors orders or recommendations during my last years IV and current IV treatments I also do that have also helped me Very Very Much. That is what I mentioned before that I got professional help. THe clinics I have been going to have added in modalities that I could not and did not have at home. Those really helped me get out of the stuck stage. IT was painful and horrible at the time. Esp the things like lymph drainage using things like laser treatments were very strong and got my lymphs to let go and move. I hated them at the time.

After a few months I could do them and feel better instead of worse!! That is where you want to be!

That is the indicator that you have MADE it across the line and to the other side and out of Stuck Mode!! It can be done.! It takes something and different for everyone so I am not saying do what I did or am doing. It i just to give you ideas and see how I progressed to it and maybe that idea will help you get there too. I really want to emphasis that because there is nothing that works across the board for everyone and you have to find those things for yourself with trial and error. I will say though that most all that I tried I kept on board in some way but found the right dosing and frequency and some more than others or even some just a oouple times a year.

In the following months to come I may change it down to reduce some and increase others. I hope to increase exercise and may reduce some of the others as I do so. Its all just feeling it out as you go. I am just pretty excited to be feeling so much clearer and like my body is working. I am not cured or done with lyme disease but when I treat for it I feel like my body is able to handle that treatment. For me that is huge in itself and why I started this conversation.

I am here to cheer you all on and support you in any way I can.! Blessings and I care about all of you!!

Sorry this got so long!

sparkle, thanks for the link. Looks real helpful.

I agree with you about all this stuff being so complicated. People talking about "pathways" or to quote Terry K, " as far as the methylation cycle and TMG, I think it is used to bring down homocysteine levels which can be impacted by MTHFR C677T"

What does that mean? I'd need to call Marnie here to interpret this--no wait a minute, she'd make it even more difficult to understand. [bonk]

Too many people here speak in tongues. [Razz] I'm not blaming them. That's why I keep coming here so I can keep learning and figuring out how to beat this disease

When someone posts terms that need more definition, often, by just searching that term at Google, you can find more detail when they are not around to answer. It would be impossible to provide all the detail here.

However, a Google search for MTHFR C677T - brings up many links.

TMG is trimethylglycine.

For you folks who eat 1-2 lemons or their juice per day:

How do you avoid tooth enamal erosion? Whenever I have any lemon juice, even in a glass of water, I can feel the juice go right to the rough spots on my teeth where there is little enamal.

Is this just my problem?

I just bought a whole body cleanse (internal cleansing system by Enzymatic) last night. I'm not sure how to go about starting this.

I'm taking a lot of supplements and ABX right now, and don't want to lower the efficacy of my treatment. How should I go about starting this cleansing?

Kit includes:

Week 1:
Laxative Formula - 3 tablets at night
Super Milk Thistle - 1 UltraCap at night
Fiber Fusion - 4 UltraCaps in the morning and 4 at night

Week 2:
Laxative Formula - 2 tablets at night
Super Milk Thistle - 1 UltraCap in the morning and 2 at night
Fiber Fusion - 4 UltraCaps in the morning and 4 at night

Well, now that I look at it the instructions are pretty clear. Do I need to be worried about any treatment disruption...I guess that's what I'm looking for.

Thanks Keebler for answering. I had to go out yesterday and wasn't around much the rest of the day.

gwb - sorry if I posted terms that were not defined. MTHFR C667T is part of the methylation testing that is done by Dr. Yasko and other doctors. More explanation follows:

Here is the definition of MTHFR which I found by doing a search on google.

"Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the MTHFR gene."

I found this file which explains a lot of what Dr. Yasko methylation testing covers.
http://tinyurl.com/376hvn

Here is the explanation for MTHFR C667T
"MTHFr C667T helps to convert homocysteine to methionine in the methylation pathway. This enzyme pathway has global effects for immune function, muscle metabolism, neurochemical production and regulation, and detoxification."

Here is a chapter from Dr. Yasko's book "Genetic Bypass" (she has a newer book out now though)
http://tinyurl.com/ylzzuu5

gwb - What does "pathway" mean?

In general terms it means a path to get from one place to another. In medical terms it usually means looking at one specific thing (like an MTHFR enzyme) and following all of it's processes from start to finish such that you know what it is doing, what it affects and what the end result of it's actions are). You would consider all the things that are affected along the way to be in the pathway. I'm afraid I've explained it rather clumisly but I hope it helps.

One doesn't need to understand the nitty gritty of the methylation cycle in order to see if the treatment might help. Many people who don't want or can't get the genetic testing try the simplified protocol. It has been posted here at lymenet in a link provided in a previous post above but it is also listed in the files section of the yasko yahoo group.
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/CFS_Yasko/messages

Yes, some of the information is complicated. It is the nature of the information. I'm not trying to provide a full education on the various protocols/issues - others have already done that via books, articles, videos, discussion groups etc.. My hope is to point out areas that one can look at further in order to help themselves.

Those who want to understand must take one area at a time and go slowly and have patience. You won't understand it from one post on lymenet. Those who don't want/need to fully understand can try the various protocols that have been developed and see if they help. If you have an LLMD or other doctor who is helping you, run it by them and see what they think.

Just a comment - Marnie gets blasted on a regular basis for trying to put her thoughts out to this group because not everyone can understand her posts. I just scroll by some of her posts because it would be very time consuming to look everything up to try to understand them all. Some of her posts have helped me put some things together which I have been able to use to help myself and others. I try to graciously accept what is offered and I ask questions when needed.

I have learned over the years that I must take responsibility for my own recovery which means spending the time and energy to research and try to understand things that might help.

Spring - yes, it's nice to have it all in one thread. We have many threads in the archives that attempt to put the information about one subject together for convenience. Some of those threads are listed in the newbie links and some are not. If no one searches for that information, the wheel will continue to be re-invented. There are lots of valuable posts in the archives that will not be duplicated in this thread because some of the posters are no longer here and others have posted it before many times and don't want to spend their time and energy posting it again.

"Too many people here speak in tongues" ?

If there is a new word or term, and if the poster just has not been able to detail that fully - that is what Google is for - look it up.

To post takes enormous energy and when there is something to look up in a post, that is the least one can do after being given so much great information - all for free.

A lot of answers are posted but don't skip over the maps, too. Take it a step further if you want to know more.

Or just skip over it. Come back later when you have more energy. Those who post here are tired, too. Their hands hurt, too. Sometimes, they can post only a key but you might have to open the door.

Work with them rather than criticize for it not all being spelled out in every little detail.

Google and PubMed are at your fingertips, too. And, where articles are suggested that more fully explain, there's a reason. Not everything can be fully addressed in a post, nor should it be expected.

For instance, it was just so easy it was to take a term new to me "MTHFR C677T" and just hop over to Google. And, Presto - tons of great links. Just follow the breadcrumbs and you'll get back home.

HI WOlfed

That looks to be a general cleanse of sorts for the guts and liver etc.

I do not see anything in it or any reason to think it would disrupt or affect your treatment in any way that is negative.

If anything you may start to notice your meds effectiveness is improved.

Good Luck with doing that ... it looks pretty gentle too

Wolfed,
My doc put my daughter and I on this last November. We used it right along with our other supps and meds.

One note on the fiber fusion tho, I believe it contains some form of oat bran, so beware if you are a celiac!

Hey folks, my comments were mostly made in fun and jest. True, I don't understand a lot of this stuff, but like I said in my post above, "I'm not blaming them (anyone). That's why I keep coming here so I can keep learning and figuring out how to beat this disease".

I can obviously do a google search if I want to learn more about this for sure. But I do think that if someone is going to bring up new things like this, it wouldn't hurt to explain it to the best of their ability and/or provide links to websites that will make topics like this more understandable for those of us who's brains are half the size of a pea (like me). So today I was able to during my IPT treatment to get what they call and Lymph drainage foot massage.

Wow was it ever nice.!!

The go through and along each of the bones from toes up and massage out any knots and open up those channels. I had an infared dome over me during the whole thing too..

It was relaxing and nice. Has anyone had one of those anywhere.

Every little bit added up helps.!

massman,

You said you don't have time to stroll over to Google. If you don't have time to further study the material, then just don't.

Posts here are a gift from someone and it's not nice to say you just don't like the color or the way the package was wrapped. You don't buy a book and return it with instructions for the author to change the voice or the tense. Same here.

What is presented is likely the best work - and hard work - of someone who cares enough to try to make a difference.

Accept. Enjoy it, or expand upon what was presented for you so that you can gain a more refined understanding or learn even more from it. Or don't. But it's just rude to be critical of someone's hard work.

You have no idea just how hard they may have worked to pull together some of this stuff in as professional manner as they can - usually also offering you handy links with even more detail.

It's polite to say "Thank You."

Have taken the plunge and just started what i think will be the ultimate detox - a raw vegan diet. The immediate result is very encouraging, mainly through giving up grains I think but my pain levels have shot down. This is the best improvement I have ever seen and in just 2 days.

I've experienced 6 yrs worth of stuff. I will come back and add my whole list later.

But the biggest and most effective thing I believe I did is: Lymph Drainage with a well trained massage person that had treated chronically ill patients for years.

Lymph drainage was done once a week for 2-3 months. Then we went to every 2 weeks schedule for a few months and then I went once a month for about 3 yrs.

During that time if I felt I needed a massage to work on painful areas then we would work those areas.

One shouldn't complain about the cost of doing things like this. There was no doctor or drug or supp that could do this for me.

I'll never forget how Gigi would respond to others about the cost of doing things to get well. She said one should do whatever they had to do to get better. Beg, borrow, sell.

One must do what one must do. Now, you might be able to have the same effect with buying a rebounder. But at that time in my illness I was too ill to jump on a rebounder.

The majority of what we need to get better here is not covered by our insurance companies. Out of pocket is just the way it is.

How does the epsom salt detox a person? Does it just open the pores more? I am not sure how it detoxes. Thanks for any info.

Posted by Keebler (Member # 12673) on :

-
Nothing really "detoxes" us, in and of itself. We give our body certain things - or do certain things that supports the intricate detox process. It's just like nutrition. We don't build bones but we give our body what it needs to do that.

How epson salts work is that magnesium is absorbed through the skin and taken up by cells that then go to work for our liver - and colon - to work better.

The links for how the liver works explains more about this. Those links are 2/3 of the way down page one of this thread.

In addition to the magnesium, the warmth of the bath helps circulation - and relaxation - and that also helps our body with the on-going, never ending and process of cleansing.

Yes, the pores of our skin are also opened by the warm bath, we sweat out some toxins and that is also helpful so that the liver does not have to do it all.

Be sure to always rinse off after a bath with epson salts. Either leave the shower hose down so you can reach it or have a shatterproof pitcher near the tub.

I started pulling oil about a year ago. I did it every morning faithfully for about 8 months, then had to have some dental grafting and had to stop for about a month or so.

After the grafting healed, I started back again, but now only a few times a week.

I know that pulling oil has done two things because I can actually see the difference - 1.) My teeth are whiter. People have even commented on it. 2.) My gums are healthier, pinker, and have grown further up/down between my teeth where before they were not.

I am now in a hold position with my periodontist where before he has had a list of things he wants to do, but so far he's said nothing has gotten worse.

I also think it may have helped with some of the head issues and fatigue, but of course, I cannot prove it.

SO I put my exercise ball in place of my desk chair and will be bouncing a lot more. Will see how it goes. It is good just to sit on even because you have to stead yourself and keeps the core working and strong.
I am so out of shape. I want to be able to do "some" working out.

The bouncing will help lymph drainage.

Reducing inflammation is another important thing

Question regarding herxes:

Are we really herxing, or are we just making the buggers mad so they send out more neurotoxins, similar to the way a skunk sprays anything that gets close to it? If all we are doing is making the buggers mad, then it could mean that the herx is overrated and that our treatment protocols are insufficient.

Either way, it would seem that detox is very important, but this could open the door for another way to judge the effectiveness of a treatment protocol.

For Detox doing Diet.

I started with
No Dairy
No White anything (potatoes pasta sugar etc)
No Grains except Brown Rice
Nothing processed or in a box.
Fish or Chicken 1x a week at most - No other meat
Organic whenever and as much as possible

6 rules !! and you would be surprised the HUGE difference!!

Posted by LittleLymie19 (Member # 15610) on :

Good suggestions springshowers. I do well with:

No Gluten
No Dairy
No Soy
No Grains except for brown rice (Just like you springshowers)
No Sugar
No animal protein ( I rely mostly on protein from powder, beans, and brown rice....aside from fish once or twice a month)
No Corn

I have insane food allergies ontop of it so my other limitations don't count. But I think a lot of lyme patients would do great on a diet like that (totally agree with springshowers on this one). The animal protein/meat thing is controversial though. I do think that most lyme patients do well with animal protein, but I personally don't.

Hey little !! We are alike arent we?

I use almond milk..
I did not type no soy but I agree with that and I thought no dairy is important enough.

Just like you I eat a lot of beans for protein. And protien powder too... Just like you and once or twice a month for some other form.. ..

Wow.. we sure are close..

! [Smile]

I do best on this diet too and many allergies no longer test positive either...

But i stay on the diet because it feels best.

Will not lie and say I am not perfect and even every so often cheat on purpose to fill up that desire and urge for something I really crave or want... and I would rather do that than expect myself to be perfect beause I would end up wanting to just quit. My way I do not stop trying...

Thats just me.

Oh TONS OF Water !

Water water water water !

Here are a couple opf links about how bad wheat/gluten etc are - they are poisons to us

http://www.greenmedinfo.com/page/dark-side-wheat-new-perspectives-celiac-disease-wheat-intolerance-sayer-ji

http://dogtorj.tripod.com/id23.html

This last one is from a vet who really knows about nutrition.

I am really struggling with my diet since I found I was allergic to rice so am raw vegan apart from chicken every other day while I am seeing if it is good for me or not. If it is not then I am really stuck as there is little left and a high fat raw vegan diet is not good.

Springshowers, we're so much alike! Good work on your diet [Smile] [Smile] [Smile]

Except, I can't ever "cheat". Unfortunately, I have to even be careful of "cross contamination" as well. Even a crumb throws my GI tract for a loop, and if I "cheat", the heart symptoms and neurological symptoms really attack. So I'm okay with eating this way, if it makes me feel better and wards off symptoms!

I really encourage everyone to try going strict gluten free, if your doctor has recommended or approved it of course, and see how your body does. Even if you have a little gluten in there, you probably won't reap the benefits from the diet at all.

Hey All. I got an ionic foot bath and have been using it and getting really good results.

I read that the array can be used for Foot, hand or body and read a few spots online that talk about how you can use the device in the bathtub.

About the lymphatic drainage work: anyone have more symptoms (or herxing) afterward. There have been a couple times in the past year that I've gotten massage or cranial sacral and, almost immediately, I've gotten a huge awful cold/bronchitis, with awful pain.

Also, how do you brush your body?

Posted by springshowers (Member # 19863) on :

Yes after lymphatic drainage you can herx of feel sick etc. If you do them ongoing you will feel that less and less.

To Brush you body you use a natural bristle brush and you do it Dry brush and dry body. You are supposed to brush toward your heart. So start at the feet and hands and then pull upward. I use little circles around the area I am working on and then end it with long full strokes to pull toward the heart. I do the feet and ankles and then the calves and thighs and then the hands and arms and then the torso and back. Include your head or at least neck too..
NOt too hard but you will see your skin turn a bit pinkish. That is good and that is enough. It goes pretty quick and takes me about 10 minutes only and I try to do it two times a day..

I have a lot of pain and this has been one of the things that seems to help or at least distract from the pain and gets blood flowing and detoxes the skin by opening up the pores. I take a bath typically after the am brushing and sometimes at night too but usually the 2nd brush I just do to without one after but still enjoy and feel the benefit.

Hope that helps some.

Oh And brush those under arms and around those lymph spots. In the front area too around where the neck meets your chest and where the knees bend behind knees. THose are good lymph spots to stimulate.

Anyone bought one of those Dome Infared Saunas that just go across your part of your body at a time?

I use them at my doctors office and like them but not sure if it is worth buying? They are about 900 dollars. I am not able to get a sauna that is a full one as I have to move out of my house and need something transportable for now.

I also saw just the belts and have used those and amazed how well they feel they work to heat up your core.

Spring,
I have the portable one that you sit in and your head sticks out. About $200 at National Pool Wholesalers with free shipping. I LOVE it--it has been instrumental in keeping the pain down and detoxing.

It also is warrantied for a year so when my heater broke they immediately replaced it free of charge.

I don't have a lot of room in my house either and this works well.

I was looking at the these called Hot House

Those look so interesting. And you said you've used them at your doctor's office and liked them?--I would go for it. It appears from what I read they do the exact same thing as a full size one.

Yes there are smells with the one I have but they go away after the first few times of using it.

I am somewhat chemically sensitive but I don't have a problem with it.

If you do get the half circle ones, let me know how it works for you. Is this wear you bought your foot detoxer?

For beginners, I recommend the "detox box" by Dr. Mark Hyman...can order online...a great guide for a great beginning cleanse to clear your body initially, to see what is remaining to tackle...helps with eliminating allergies and candida!

Those who do this for 6 weeks have life long positive health effects. For me...I have lost all my seasonal allergies and animal allergies after doing this over 4 years ago...

IT helped me have a clearer body before treating lyme...and helped me know what was lyme and what was allergies or candida, etc...when all symptoms seem to mesh together.

I also did this after taking abx..very helpful!

This is not the same as allergie -immun at all.

That clears deeper miasms and dysregulatins in the detox pathways...do not be confused...but it does help clear out loads of the debris we all carry around. very worthwhile for novices who cannot figure this all out on your own.

This is not a heavy metal detox...but a full body, blood, and intestinal cleansing detox.

Karenl

I wanted to address your questions about the detox foot bath.

When I started using the machine I already had worked on Detox a lot and I did 30 and 45 minutes right off the bat. I even was able to use it up to 2 times a day for a few days in a row to help pull me out of some bad days. But I would NOT do that if you have not a clear feeling and indication of where you are in the detox of your body. I am to the place where I know how to clear stuff out when it builds up and know how it feels. Before that for the longest time I was not there and I would work so hard and still always feel bad.
Also you have to be careful though as you can get burns on your ankles where the water hits your skin. My machine is powerful and to adjust you have to reduce the salt you put in the water as opposed to reduce any power or reduce time. The power source is either on or off and there is no timeer. It is simple yet powerful machine. You can use 1 tsp on my machine and I am still at 1/2 and started out at 1/4 tsp.

So my advice is to start with 1/4 or less salt and see how that goes and slowly increase it. But do the full 30 minutes and even work up to 45.

I never herxed from it and always felt better immediately after and for hours or the whole day. On days I feel ok I do not use it but am going to start ot do it on a regular basis no mater how I feel to keep things moving.

Also. The first week i got it I did not feel much result and was a bit skeptical. But I kept at it and by the 2nd week and 3rd week it got better and better. Not sure why that is but thought I would mention it.

Thanks so much for this great thread! I am reading it in spurts as I can. But here's a question for you:

How do you prepare food for yourself? What do you prepare? There are so many things you need to avoid that it is hard to tell what you should fix. I am in bed nearly all the time and depend on my husband for food. He buys and cooks it.

I start the day with a protein shake (Trader Joe's protein powder) made with plain yogurt, a few frozen strawberries, a little orange juice and ice and MMS powder)

For lunch I have a tuna sandwich on whole grain bread. Or some yogurt if I am nauseated.

For dinner we have a chicken, fish or meat, vegetables and rice or potatoes. We often share on orange or an apple for dessert.

And that's it. I am just not hungry, even though I used to be a restaurant critic! Funny, huh? I love to cook but cannot even make it downstairs to the kitchen.

When I got sick I suddenly gained lots of weight. My thyroid grew huge and had to be removed. I had always been rather slim...even after pregnancies and while eating in restaurants every night.

The only change in my added weight was after 6 weeks in the hospital with 2x daily IV's of vancomycin and naphcillin. I was unable to eat at all, except for protein shakes. I lost 70 pounds in 6 weeks! And I felt much better and could walk and get out of bed.

But then I gradually relapsed and discovered I had lyme disease and put the weight back on. I had to teach my husband how to cook, giving him instructions from my bed. But he is a big man, a Norwegian who loves red meat! I am slowly converting him.

I just don't know what to tell him to fix. I hate even thinking about food these days. I tell him to bring me very small amounts so I can get it down. And most food tastes awful to me. He is cooking very well, but doesn't know what to fix.

It doesn't seem to make sense to go through all the great detoxing ideas here if you are not eating properly. And how do you manage to eat new foods if you are already nauseated? How do you cook if you can barely walk??? If I had my way I would live on protein shakes!

Years ago I wrote a cookbook. Maybe you all could send me some ideas and I could write a new cookbook for lymies!

I would start it out by listing the contents of a well stocked pantry. I would list the things you can find at local farmers markets. But then what???

In case anyone missed this on one of the other threads, I thought this would be an appropriate place to post this article since it's related to toxins:

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0ISW/is_285/ai_n19170382/?tag=content;col1

For those of you who don't have issues with magnesium and want to do a detox bath, this is the one I've been using three times a week. This comes from Dr. Jernigan's book:

---Detox Bath: Put the thermometer in the water to make sure the temperature is around 98 degrees, NOT warmer. (You do not want HOT water as that can make you feel worse). **My comments; I've never used a thermometer and probably have had the water hotter than it should be at times. Not saying it's a good idea, but I'm still alive and kicking. [Big Grin]

As the water is running, add 4 to 6 cups of Epsom Salts and entire bottle(s) of Hydrogen Peroxide (32 oz., food grade is 3%). Some use 2 bottles.

Before getting into the bath, you will need a Natural Fiber Brush and do a "dry skin brushing" to unclog your pores always brushing toward your heart, don't forget to brush the soles of your feet too!

The Epsom Salts help draw out the toxins and at the same time the magnesium absorbs into your bloodstream, most people do NOT have enough magnesium. The Hydrogen Peroxide adds oxygen into your bloodstream which lyme spirochetes hate. Try to stay in the bath a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes, the longer, the better.

Detox Baths are NOT a one time thing. One must do them daily or start off slow and eventually build up to them. One bath will not accomplish much. NOTE: Most people feel "worse" during the first week of detox baths and eventually feel better since it is a cumulative effect.

Epsom Salts and Hydrogen Peroxide: Recent research has shown that one when soaks in a bath of magnesium sulfate, both magnesium and the sulfate independently increase measurably in the blood and urine. Magnesium sulfate helps stabilize Hydrogen Peroxide so that the ultimate breakdown into H2O and free oxygen is more gradual and functional to the process of benefiting the body. This research documents the very real beneficial aspects of this bath therapy.

Actions of Bath Ingredients:

Hydrogen Peroxide: a simple non-toxic molecule of H2O2 that is beneficial in oxidizing (breaking down) toxins as well as killing anaerobic microbes. It will also detoxify pesticides and petroleum-based toxins and oxidize metals. Hydrogen Peroxide is also naturally produced by macrophages in the body to kill harmful bacteria.

The Epsom Salt Council reports this:

Magnesium is the second most abundant element in human cells and the fourth-most positivity charged ion in the body.

The National Academy of Sciences reports: Most Americans are magnesium deficient helping to account for our society's high rate of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis and joint pain, digestive maladies and stress-related illnesses.

Raising magnesium levels may improve heart and circulatory health, reducing irregular heartbeats, preventing hardening of the arteries, lowering blood pressure. Flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances.

Ginger: functions to open up pores of the skin and increase the blood flow at the surface of the skin so that the oxygen from the hydrogen peroxide can do its work in detoxifying poisons and kill bacteria and fungi. The pores open wider so that the magnesium sulfate can be more readily absorbed. Ginger is invigorating and can stimulate perspiration for the elimination of toxins.---

I love taking detox baths and feel that they have benefitted me tremendously.

Hi All

Great Idea about the CookBook. THe ingredients are the first key anyway and after that you have to be creative and balance the foods. I find you have to have enough protein and that can be hard. The shakes are good but finding other things can be hard. I use organic free range chicken now and again and beans and vegetarian soy products sometimes. For me rotating products is good so you do not do too much soy or too much of any one thing.

I know its rough and I am not hungry alot of the time either. I try to do 3 meals of some sort and then I get sick to my stomach fast so I have to put it in the fridge and eat slowly smaller amounts when I can.

I have no answers really that are perfect and though I can relate to you.

THanks Gary for the bath recipies again. They are great and I can not do without my baths. They help a lot. Running out of ingredients though and I wondered if you have a source for Bulk Items that you might be able to share>??

THanks
Much

NOtes from Dr. K on diet:

Proteins: A high protein diet is only good for healthy people....healthy people only get good results on mostly protein. Sick people do this thinking it is best...and get sicker or relapses and wonder why.

Protein acidifies your body and the bugs get "happy" in an acid environment. Therefore, people with lyme (bugs), do not do well on a high protein diet. Follow the lyme diet...which is low protein and lots of good vegetables, carbs.

Check you PH regularly, and adjust your diet when necessary to maintain a healthy balance.

Urine: healthy range (6.0 - 6.4)
less than 6.0 is acid
more than 6.4 is alkaline

Saliva : healthy range ( 6.5 - 6.9)
less than 6.5 is acid

Thanks Light

I have been following the Lyme diet and got some new test results that say I should add more protein.

I though will be very careful and not push it for sure. I do get very very little and maybe I need to just add a bit more. I was eating something that was protein only every few weeks to one time a month even.

I though this year added protein shakes and upped eating something like chicken one time a week.

That still is quite a bit limited I think? DO you agree? I guess I should have been more specific.

Everything is perspective .. and individual.

I have to add here.

Inclinded Bed Therapy IBT. It think it is helping with toxins and detox as it "Maybe" does not allow them to build up as you lay down fully horizontal. Or maybe it is other reasons for the system to keep working better? NOt sure

But its helping.

TO the List of Detox Ideas.

I have been seeing a Homeopathic doctor again as I have on and off and he gave me 3 remedies to use together to help detox.

I pulled out an old set from another doctor from a long time ago who did the same thing and gave me what he called a "Detox Kit" It comes in a box with 3 bottles in it and you do a certain numbers of drops a certain number of times a day.

Now I did not finish the first set years ago and I know it was because I was SOOOO Sick I did not notice a difference and I just got 1/2 way through the protocol.

I now do notice a difference and my doctor now has me on this therapy.

So I wanted to as this idea to all the other ideas here.!!

Blessings

SO years ago before I got sick my girlfriend would drag me with her (i forgot all about this) and she would go to a place that did body wraps for detox.

Back then the goal was to loose a couple inches to fit into that dress !!.

Well I stumbled on this site that shows you how to do them at home. The solutions may need to be found as to what is exactly in them. I am sure I can find it if I dig deeper. But I now remember trying to do body wraps at home even just for sweating.

Well since we are always looking for home detox methods you may want to read this page for an idea on how to do body wraps. I am sure you can use various things even above and beyond the 3 they mention but the technique is the same.

I am going to do some and see how it goes!

Hey All..

I am sure we can keep adding to this thread with more ideas.

I also keep reading that people can not find all the detox ideas in one place and are having trouble finding information.

I think that this thread pulls together many many of the ideas for detox support that many of us use.

Would it be better to create a list based on what was written in this whole tread and include it here too?

I can pull that together if that would be something that people would like to see.

Hi

Has anyone heard of homotoxicology?

`Homotoxins' as substances that were harmful to the human body.
Exogenous toxins that are introduced or produced from outside the human body include air
pollution, chemicals, pesticides, metals such as mercury, allopathic drug residue, bacteria,
viruses, infections in the gut, including Candida, and gut dysbiosis (often due to an
unhealthy diet).

Go to this link or do other searches for more info. I had not heard this term before but looks to be a homeopathic base combined with other various ways to help detox your body.

Anyone have any new ideas to add to this list?

I want to add that there is an order to things that i have learned.

FIRST - Disolve and treat BIOFILMS (on empty stomach)

SECOND - KILL Bugs (using whatever method your on either abx or natural methods including rife) Good idea to do or take the treatment 30 to 60 minutes after taking the Biofilm Treatment

THIRD - Soak up or detox toxins (using things presrcibed or natural internally away from any other medications and then using things from this detox thread )

This order is always in my mind

I'm glad to find this thread...I came here in confusion, and think I've found my answers.

I've been working on detox and candida issues, using some of the recommendations already listed. I've had some Lyme symptoms slowly come back, and am now on my 2nd (hopefully last) course of ABX, minocycline and grapefruit seed extract. While I was off treatment, I took Samento/Cumanda, 12 days each, trading off, along with grapefruit seed extract.

I've been puzzled by not feeling much difference since starting treatment, with very little herxing. I have 2 blocked detox pathways (methylation and sulfuric), and work at detoxing every day. So, now I see that not herxing makes sense in my situation, especially since my infectious, heavy metal, and general toxic load is way down.

The one puzzle I have yet to figure out is the weight gain. I was stable at my ideal weight and then began gaining, which my LLMD counted as a lyme symptom. I've been on treatment for over 2 weeks, and I still am gaining. I'm now at the top end of normal weight for my height, and in the biggest of the clothes that I kept.

I've been very good with diet, but relaxed a LITTLE in maintenance. I wonder if such a tiny amount of sugar (summer fruit, dark chocolate) could cause weight gain like this.I stayed at my ideal weight for a while on the exact diet that I'm eating now. I'm getting more strict by the day, and the weight is still slowly creeping up.

Anyway, I'm going to just plug along, try to get more regular with the pilates, and hope I get squared away eventually. I do walk, and my energy is better than it has been in years (about 50%).

I do feel that NOW my lyme disease is mainly one of malfunctioning detox systems. My husband tests positive for lyme infection and remains healthy and symptom free. He has never been treated. The older he gets, the better he follows my example in diet, which may keep him from ever getting symptoms. I'm hoping to control the symptoms by lifestyle habits, along with the herbs.

I agree with Springshowers: dissolve biofilm, kill bugs, and then get it all out of here!

Hi

I do not often come across Great websites or Articles but..

This Site is a Must Read in my opinion.

Go to the "articles" page.

This doctor wrote most all of them himself and there is a long list of Very useful information for us all.

It also is kept up to date as I noticed the dates on the site are current.

Please take a look.. You will not regret it.

And it has LOTS of DETOX articles and ideas and specific HOW TO articles too.

http://drlwilson.com/index.htm

There is a start of a doctor referral page as well as a Support Page for patients who want to network in their new way of life of taking great care of themselves ...

Take a look. I really like the site and information.

Ironically the doctor is in my state and I have not heard of him before.. But he does mention my new Homeopathic doctor in his list.

Let me know what you think

Hello

Great Idea with Vegan Diet.

Juicing is another great thing. Like the Gerson Diet. They do juicing and Coffee enemas all day long.

Huge Detox!

Diet and what you eat and put in your mouth daily makes a big difference.

As I start to feel better I Found myself cheating and I noticed and it was not for the better. My body was not happy with me.

IF you take out all the preservatives and prepackaged foods and eat only real whole food that is one step. Then take out anything white and refined.

Then if you want to take it further you can even take out all grains and anything that translates to sugars.

Just veggies and protein of some sort ( I have realized I can not skip out on protein and even on a vegan diet the vegan proteins for me are not enough so I go to organic chicken and or fish )

Also no dairy as I use and rotate rice milk, almond milk, and soy milk. None of those only are good I feel so I rotate them.

I use fruits only in my smoothies such as blue berries and though I do have green apples and lemons and some of the not so sweet varieties.

Great to hear of the improvement on Diet Mati.

And to those who keep asking me about Detox this thread is full of great ideas and things you can do all day every day and incorporate into your daily life that WILL Make a big difference.

Esp if you do a combination of quite a few of them together and they work together.

I am working down to using up the supplements I have left and diet and detox are going to be all I do.

But I will say I had to do a BIG HIT of Killing of this bug with a full integrative IV Lyme Protocol treatment for 6 months straight along with detox detox detox detox.. I would not been able to treat without detox. I would not be able to do what I am doing now without the detox.

So detox is what it took to treat and detox is what it is taking to sustain what I accomplished when I treated.. And detox is what is going to change my body for the future.

I really have changed how I feel about detox. I used to think of it totally differently. There are so many ways and angles and things you can do that will affect and work in different ways that are all detox.

ESP while trying to treat and kill bugs detox is so extremely important. For years I took this lightly. Not anymore.

This is a great link and site and detailed info on Parasite cleansing and detoxing!!

Treatment: Enemas
An enema is an at-home method of cleansing your colon (large intestine), and helps to rid the body of accumulated toxins. While the enema cleanses only the colon, by stimulating flow of bile and excretion of stool, the enema also encourages the small intestine to move its contents, including any toxins it contains.
A typical enema uses a quart of water at body temperature mixed with herbs, coffee or mineral salts. All you need to do an enema are:

1.
✓enema ingredients, including warm filtered water
2.
✓enema bag (or a hot water bottle fitted for an enema), available at your local pharmacy.
3.
✓towels (for cleanup)

Many conditions may prompt one to take an enema. Perhaps the most common is constipation. But just as you give your home a good spring cleaning, it's also a good idea to give your colon a good spring cleaning. Actually, I like to do a routine salt-soda enema twice a year, just to 'clean house.' It has the added benefit of stimulating the lymph system to clean itself.
When parasites are present, and especially when they die-off (from treatment), they loose many toxic substances into their environment, which can be picked up by the blood, causing distress. The liver works overtime to detoxify these substances, and can become tired and weak. A good colon cleanse can help the liver rid itself of the toxic substances. One of the best cleanses for this purpose is the coffee enema, which acts to stimulate bile secretion into the small intestine; bile is essential for detox. A coffee enema is also an excellent general colon cleanse.
An enema containing garlic is a good choice if you have parasites (pathogenic bacteria, candida, pinworms, etc.) in your large intestine. It's best to mix some salt into the enema fluids, to help the mucosa shed toxins, and to reduce transfer of water into and out of the cells. The garlic-Epsom salt enema is a good example.
After giving yourself a cleansing or coffee enema, its always good practice to follow with a probiotic enema, to restore probiotics removed by the enema. Restoring probiotics improves your immune system and helps detox. To be most effective, take probiotics both orally and in an enema (see next paragraph for examples). See below for probiotic enema instructions.
Also add probiotic capsules or powder to your supplement list for about a week after an enema, and increase your intake of probiotic foods (kefir, lacto-beverages, buttermilk, yogurt, sauerkraut and other lacto-condiments, and lfermented cabbage juice).
One last word of warning: NEVER take enemas for longer than 7 consecutive days, or you will become dependent on enemas for a bowel movement. For acute problems, I prefer to take enemas for 3 - 5 days and then take a 2 day rest before starting another round.
I am not a doctor and am not qualified to advise you on your specific health situation. My intent is merely to raise awareness and express opinion.

1.

Salt & Soda Enema instructions

1.
*2 quarts filtered water,
2.
*1 Tbsp salt
3.
*1 Tbsp baking soda
4.
Warm water to 120 degrees. Stir in salt and soda until dissolved. Allow to cool to 110 - 118 degrees F. Fill bag and hang from showerhead. Insert tip (soap is a good lubricant), crouch so tip is about 2 - 3 feet below the bag, and allow fluid to flow into my bowel.
5.
If you are constipated, deliver only about a cup of solution at a time, until you have emptied your colon (the water runs out clear). For the first cup or so, don't try to hold it more than 5 minutes before voiding.
6.
If you are not constipated, lie on side and hold as long as possible, 10 - 15 minutes, massaging abdomen gently in large counter-clockwise circles. Then expel into toilet.
7.
You can also take a salt and soda bath, to relieve symptoms during a cleanse: Mix 1/2 pound salt and 1/2 pound baking soda. Dissolve in hot bath water. Get into the bath and relax.
8.

Catherine's Coffee Enema instructions
It's important to void the lower part of your bowel before taking a coffee enema. If you are constipated, use the salt & soda enema (above) for this purpose.

1.
*1 quart filtered water,
2.
*3 - 4 Tbsp drip-grind coffee (not decaf), and
3.
*pinch of Celtic sea salt.
4.
Bring to boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, pour through strainer into quart measuring cup; add cold filtered water to bring back to 4 cups. Allow to cool to 110 - 118 degrees F, then pour into enema bag.
5.
Hang bag from shower head, insert enema tip (use a bit of soap to lubricate it), crouch so tip is about 2 - 3 feet below the bag, and allow fluid to flow into my bowel.
6.
Remove tip; lie in bed on right side for 5-10 minutes; roll over to left side for another 5-10 minutes. Then expel into toilet. For a first enema, you might only be able to hold it for 5 minutes, but try to hold it as long as you can. It's also a good idea to void any stool before taking enema. If constipated, give a salt enema to void stool (see below for recipe), then follow with coffee enema.
7.
Follow coffee enema with a probiotic enema (see below for recipe).
8.
Alternate Method:
9.
This method stimulates bile secretion, but does not clean higher in the colon.
10.
Make coffee mixture as above, but deliver only about 1 cup of enema into colon. Lie on side (as instructed above) for 10 - 15 minutes, then expel. Repeat with another cup of enema, etc., until the bag is empty (about 4 enemas).
11.
Follow coffee enema with a probiotic enema (see below for recipe).

Garlic-Epsom Salt Enema instructions

1.
Precaution: This enema is very purging. Use no more than twice during a fast.
2.
*3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
3.
*2 quarts filtered water
4.
*2 Tbsp Epsom salt
5.
Combine garlic and water in saucepan and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Stir in Epsom salt. Allow to cool to 110 - 118 degrees F, then pour into enema bag.
6.
Hang bag from shower head, insert enema tip (use a bit of soap to lubricate it), crouch so tip is about 2 - 3 feet below the bag, and allow fluid to flow into my bowel, massaging abdomen in counter-clockwise direction (up left side, across top, down right side, across bottom).
7.
Remove tip; lie in bed on right side for 5 minutes, massaging abdomen; roll over to left side for another 5 minutes, continuing to massage abdomen. Then expel into toilet.

Probiotic Enema instructions

1.
NOTE: if using commercial yogurt, make certain it says "contains live bacteria," (and not "made with live bacteria"). Also use plain, unsweetened yogurt or kefir. Preferably homemade.
2.

3.
*2 quarts warm filtered water,
4.
*2 Tbsp yogurt or kefir, or 4 - 5 capsules of probiotic, or 1/8 tsp powdered probiotic
5.
If using powdered probiotic (or capsules), choose one high in bifidus (bifidobacteria), as this is the primary beneficial bacteria in the colon. Acidophilus (and other lactobacillus bacteria) is often recommended, but it prefers the environment of the small intestine rather than the colon. If using yogurt, choose one that includes bifidus.
6.
Warm water to 120 degrees. Stir in yogurt/kefir/probiotic until dissolved. If using capsules, open caps and dump contents into warm water. Allow to cool to 110 - 118 degrees F. Fill bag and hang from showerhead. Insert tip (soap is a good lubricant), crouch so tip is about 2 - 3 feet below the bag, and allow fluid to flow into my bowel.
7.
Lie on side and hold as long as possible, at least 5 minutes, massaging abdomen gently in large counter-clockwise circles. Then expel into toilet.
8.
You may want to use only 1 quart at a time, especially if you have difficulty holding this enema.

Intestinal Parasites & Worms
Parasites are organisms that live off another organism. While some can be harmless, most do harm to the host. There are many parasites that can live in the human body, from single celled microbes to multi-celled worms.
In the US, most health practitioners believe we are safe from parasites unless we go overseas, but this is simply not the case. Think of the pinworm or head-lice problems in grade schools. And it's not limited to children. Many adults also have parasites and may not be aware of it until the problem gets serious.
Perhaps the most common (abundant) variety is the fungal form of Candida yeast. As a single-celled yeast, candida is a normal resident of the colon (large intestine), helping us to process our food. But when conditions are "right," candida can morph into a multi-celled fungus that invades the small intestine and from there, enters the blood stream and can migrate to any other organs in the body. Common places to find this fungus are in the mouth and throat (thrush), sinuses, and sex organs (vaginitis or jock itch). Refer to Candidiasis for more.
Parasite Symptoms
How do you know if you have a parasite infection? The clearest way is when you see them in your stool, especially during an enema. You can also have a stool analysis. But chances are if you have problems with constipation, weight gain or weight loss, headaches, excessive gas, and other intestinal symptoms, you have intestinal parasites.
In addition to intestinal parasites, there are parasites such as flukes that invade the heart, lungs, liver or other organs. Or parasites that invade muscles. Other organs can also be affected. But this article deals with those that make a home in your intestines. Some intestinal parasites spent part of their life cycle in other organs, for example ascaris 6 which spends part of its larval cycle in your lungs.
Here's a list of some common symptoms of parasitic infection, from appliedozone.com:

1.
*Allergies
2.
*Anemia (iron deficiency)
3.
*Constipation
4.
*Diarrhea
5.
*Fatigue: tiredness, flu-like symptoms, apathy, depression, lack of concentration
6.
*Gas and stomach bloating
7.
*Immune dysfunction
8.
*Blisters on inside of lower lip
9.
*Wiping nose
10.
*Grinding teeth at night
11.
*Dark circles under eyes
12.
*Hyperactivity in children
13.
*Bed wetting in children
14.
*Headaches
15.
*Sensitivity to light
16.
*Twitching eyelid
17.
*Gum or rectal bleeding

10.
✴Candida
11.
Refer to my article on Candidiasis.
12.
✴Pinworms
13.
Prescription medications are often used to treat children for pinworms, but herbal treatments also work: Bitter melon, wormwood, Clarkia, garlic and onion.
14.
✴Tapeworms and Ascaris
15.
The following is from Dr. Hulda Clark on CureZone.com.4 These worms, which are quite common in the US, are particularly hard to eliminate completely. Dr Clark recommends a 3-step process: (1) Clarkia, (2) co-enzyme Q10, and (3) mop-up with ozonated olive oil and L-cysteine.
16.
Start with Clarkia tincture (see Herbal Remedies). As the worms die, they release toxins that can be quite uncomfortable. The coffee enema (see below) helps the liver to detox, and greatly relieves the discomfort caused by the toxins.
17.
Follow this with 3000 mg pharmaceutical grade coenzyme Q10, or 4000 mg for a person over 155 pounds. The frequency of this dose depends on how sick you are. {NOTE: Coenzyme Q10 is also known as ubiquinone). Pharmaceutical grade CoQ10 is available at WholeHealth.com in 30, 100 or 300 mg v-caps. You may also be able to get it from a compounding pharmacist.
18.
‣If you are very ill (or HIV positive), Dr Clark recommends taking a single dose (3 or 4 grams) every 5th day (or once a week if HIV positive), until you are better; on other days take a smaller dose (400 mg), preferable spread throughout the day.
19.
‣If not very ill, save this treatment for times when you are ill; then take a single dose once a week until you are better. Otherwise take the smaller dose daily (400 mg).
20.
‣Take on empty stomach. Don't eat dozens of capsules, to avoid unexpected toxins in the capsule; rather open each one and stir contents into 1/4 tsp honey.
21.
‣Best to do after doing the Clarkia herbal treatment (wormwood, black walnut and cloves), which will get most, but not all of the tapeworms/ascaris.
22.
It takes about 3 weeks to disintegrate adult worms completely, and clear them from your tissues. However, they release their eggs before they die, so you can become re-infected. Cloves are not necessarily effective against these eggs. Dr Clark recommends a mop-up, which includes ozonated olive oil and L-cysteine:
23.
*lightly-ozonated olive oil (12 Tbsp morning and night).
24.
You can purchase lightly-ozonated olive oil online at OzonatedOilOnline.
25.
Or you can make it at home using an ozonator (these can also be used to ozonate water). You can purchase an ozonator for oil, water or food at www.drclark.com or Tools for Healing. See CureZone for instructions on how to make ozonated oil (scroll down to "Strangle the Stragglers").
26.
The reason for taking ozonated oil, rather than ozonated water, is that you want to penetrate distant cells where the eggs or cysts may be hiding. Water will not penetrate the cell walls, but oils will.
27.
[NOTE: fully ozonated olive oil is no longer a liquid, but rather a thick gel-like paste, and is for external application only.]
28.
*L-cysteine (500 mg capsules, taken 2 at a time, 3 times a day).
29.
Available at iHerb (product codes NOW-00077, TWL-00122, or BLB-00038). Cysteine is a non-essential amino acid, that is precursor to glutathione, the primary anti-oxidant and detoxifier used by the liver. it will also chelate heavy metals. I don't know if N-Acetyl L-Cysteine will work for treating worms.
30.
CAUTION: Do not take this mop-up remedy longer than three weeks.

Herbal Remedies
The remedies listed here are used either to remove parasites, to assist in detox while killing parasites, or to sooth inflamed intestinal tissues.

1.
✴Black Walnut Hull
2.
The hull of black walnut has been used by many traditional cultures for treatment of parasites. It is believed to be deadly to fungus (including candida), and worms. For more, see: drclarke.net, ghchealth.com,
3.
✴Blue Heron (NF Formulas, or Integrative Therapeutic)
4.
I first learned of Blue Heron from my Naturopathic physician in Portland OR. This product provides intestinal cleansing support while taking other herbs to kill parasites. It contains: Borage, flax and fenugreek seeds, oat bran, psyllium hull, bentonite clay, dried plum fruit, marshmallow root, slippery elm bark, triphala (Aruvedic blend), papain (papaya enzyme), and probiotic blend of lactobaccillus and bifidobacterium species. Read ingredients at RiteCare or purchase at Rite Care or Drug Natural.
5.
✴Clarkia
6.
The herbal tincture known as Clarkia, is the most commonly used cure for over 100 parasites. It contains tinctures of black walnut hull, wormwood, and clove. The first two are deadly to many single-cell parasites and to many adult worms and developmental stages of worms. Clove has antibacterial properties and also goes after the eggs of many worms.
7.
Dr Hulda Clark states that the three herbs must be used together to be the most effective.
8.
Clarkia can be added to enema water to kill parasites in the colon. See CureZone.com for more.
9.
✴Cloves, Turmeric and other Spices
10.
Many spices have antimicrobial and anti-parasitic action. Clove is often used to kill the eggs of certain worms, such as ascaris and tapeworm. See my article on Spices for more.
11.
✴FlorEssence
12.
This herbal tea will help during a parasite cleanse by assisting detox at the cellular level. It includes the herbs: blessed thistle, burdock root, kelp, red clover, sheep sorrel, slippery elm, turkish rhubarb, and watercress.
13.
✴Garlic
14.
This common herb is effective against ascaris roundworm, Giardia lamblia, Trypanosoma, Plasmodium, and Leishmania, per http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/conditionsitoq/a/Parasites.htm. see also ehow.com for more.
15.
✴Grape Seed Extract
16.
This extract contains strong antioxidants, and is effective against viruses, bacteria, protozoa and yeast, and some parasites. see altmedicine.about.com.
17.
✴Homeopathic Remedies
18.
Refer to: http://www.hpathy.com/diseases/worms-symptoms-treatment-cure.asp. Cina is the most commonly used homeopathic remedy for worms, but there are many others with different uses. See also online homeopathic materia medica (http://www.hpathy.com/materiamedica/allenkeynotes/allen-cina.asp) for more on this remedy.
19.
✴Marshmallow Root
20.
This excellent herb is useful to sooth an inflamed intestinal wall, during and after a parasite cleanse. Its high mucilage content is also useful in helping to soften and break up the accumulated plaque. (see http://www.dickcontino.com/marshmallow-root-herb-remedies-side-effects.htm for more)
21.
The product: "Small Intestine Detox" by Nature's Sunshine, is a blend of marshmallow root and pepsin enzyme, and is often used as a small-intestine cleanse, and to sooth peptic ulcers. (see Nature's Sunshine, or http://www.4naturalhealthherbs.com/848-2.html for more)
22.
✴Oil of Oregano
23.
This oil is a potent antiseptic, effective against bacteria and yeasts. It is also antihelmintic (anti-worms). See diagnose-me.com and raysahelian.com for more.
24.
✴Oxy Cleanse
25.
I've never used this product, but I believe that introducing oxygen to the anaerobic ("without oxygen") intestines can be useful in eliminating parasites conditioned to living in an anaerobic environment. Oxy Cleanse contains ozonated magnesium, which reacts with the hydrogen chloride in your stomach to produce oxygen. This product claims to rid your system of candida, and certainly, candida is sensitive to the presence of oxygen. However, unless you change your internal environment to one that is not attractive to candida, it will simply come back. I'm not sure how this is done; there are a lot of theories in the literature.
26.
See candidablog for more about Oxy Cleanse; order at ghchealth.com.
27.
✴Pumpkin Seeds
28.
These seeds are used to treat tapeworm and roundworms (such as ascaris and whipworm). see altmedicine.about.com,
29.
✴Rascal
30.
This herbal combination has be recommended by Dr Clark for treatment of tapeworms. Contains pumpkin seeds, garlic, cramp bark, cayenne fruit and thyme leaf.
31.
✴Usnea (a Lichen)
32.
My friend Zena, who is into herbal remedies, says that usnea can be used to treat similar infestations, as would be treated by the prescription drug Flagyl (metronidazole). Usnea produces chemicals that are anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-protozoal, and also against certain insects and nematodes (round worms) that would be harmful to the lichen in its natural environment. The most studied of these chemicals is usnic acid, which, prior to the discovery of penicillin, was studied extensively for its antimicrobial properties. (See National Toxicology (Dept of Health and Human Service) website for more.)
33.
Native Americans have used forest lichen as a dressing for wounds. The lichen structure provides a protective web, while the chemicals produced by the lichen keep pathogens at bay.
34.
✴Watermelon Seeds
35.
Mashed watermelon seeds have been used to treat intestinal worms. A fatty oil in the seed, as well as aqueous and alcoholic extracts, paralyze tapeworms and roundworms such as ascaris. (See herbnet.com for more).
36.
✴Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium and Artemisia annum)
37.
Wormwood tea is effective against pinworms and roundworms (such as ascaris and whipworm). It is also effective against giardia and malaria. For more, see altmedicine.about.com and drclark.net.

Colon Cleanse
Most experts recommend doing a colon cleanse at least once a year, like spring cleaning. It's purpose is to dislodge the tarry accumulation along the walls of the small and large intestine, that interfere with digestion and absorption of foods, and also weakens the immune system. However, a good colon cleanse can also help eradicate parasites.
Such a cleanse can include a regime of fasting, cleansing herbal remedies or teas, and/or cleansing enemas. One popular cleanse product is Dr. Natura's Colonix. But there are many other products on the market. The Master Cleanse is a well-known cleansing fast made with lemon juice and maple syrup (see below).

1.
✴Enema Cleanse:
2.
One of the best cleanses for this purpose is the coffee enema (see Enemas; also refer to CureZone site for links to several enema instructions).
3.
✴Recommendations During a Cleanse:
4.
See Dr Richard Anderson for more on these recommendations: http://curezone.com/cleanse/bowel/bowel_dr_anderson.html.1
5.
Assess your pH to determine degree of alkalinity of your system (see my pH website for instructions), using both saliva and urine pH measurements. Dr Anderson recommends taking saliva pH, but urine pH can also be useful. 1
6.
Reduce food intake (eat less). This enables your body to focus its energy on clearing out the toxins and old fecal matter without the distraction and energy output of digesting new foods. Green juices (wheatgrass, etc.) are also recommended. 1
7.
Dietary Changes. Dr. Anderson recommends three dietary changes as part of a cleanse: 1
1.
1.Eliminate meat during the cleanse, in order to reduce acid-forming dietary input.
2.
2.Reduce grains, potatoes, yams and sweet potatoes for 30 days after completing the cleanse.
3.
3.Eat a raw foods diet as much as possible, based on locally grown organic fruits and veggies, and home-made sprouts. Such a diet is rich in digestive enzymes and encourages the body to continue detoxifying.
4.
Dry Skin-Brushing is recommended by PTree on CureZone. 3 This entails using a natural sisal brush to brush your entire body (except face and sensitive areas) toward the heart, before bathing.
5.
Make a Bentonite & Psyllium "smoothie." Bentonite is a liquid clay derived from volcanic ash. (Refer to the CureZone 2 website for more. Yerba Prima and Sonne's are good brands). Taken orally, this smoothie is highly effective in absorbing toxins from the intestines and removing them from the body Always take on an empty stomach (first thing in morning, or just before bed, at least 1 hour before or after a meal). To make the smoothie, mix: 3
6.
*1 Tbsp liquid bentonite and
7.
*1 tsp powdered psyllium (or 1 Tbsp whole husk psyllium) with
8.
*8 - 10 oz water or diluted juice; drink immediately.
9.
See CureZone 3 for more on frequency, etc..
10.
See also recommended supplements, below.
11.

12.
✴Master Cleanse
13.
Stanley Burroughs wrote a book about his Master Cleanse, which uses a special lemonade fast. For more on this cleanse, and his salt water flush, refer to the CureZone.com and cureZone.com (Espen H's experience).
14.
I had experience with this cleanse many years ago when I first started seeing naturopathic doctors. I'd been having trouble with lupus-like symptoms (but tested negative for lupus), and eczema. My Dr recommended a 3 day fast. Day 1 was raw fruit and raw vegetable salads with oil/vinegar dressing. Day 2 was vegetables only. Day 3 was the lemonade fast, to which he added garlic. Each day I did a coffee enema. I'd never done a fast before and I was miserable. But it did help me.

Recommended Supplements During a Cleanse
These recommendations are from Dr. Anderson on the CureZone website, unless otherwise noted.
Herbal laxative. Select a formula to soften and break up toxic waste material while detoxifying cells. Dr Anderson recommends the following combination (when mixed in the proper way--but he doesn't say how to do that): 1

1.
✓plantain,
2.
✓cascara sagrada,
3.
✓barberry,
4.
✓peppermint,
5.
✓sheep sorrel,
6.
✓fennel seed,
7.
✓ginger root,
8.
✓myrrh gum,
9.
✓red raspberry,
10.
✓rhubarb root,
11.
✓goldenseal, and
12.
✓lobelia.

Dr Anderson asserts this formula "prepares the mucoid plaque for removal and neutralizes stored intestinal toxins such as pesticides, drugs, and heavy metals. It also helps cleanse the liver and other body tissues."1
Other herbal laxatives.
I take an herbal laxative called "Colon Care" available at my local Swan Valley Herbs store. It contains: Turkey Rhubarb, Senna, Cayenne, Aloe, Slippery Elm, Barberry and Garlic.
I also use another intestinal formula called Blue Heron (see Herbal Remedies above, for more info). This product claims to absorb and eliminate toxins to improve colon function. It is not a strong laxative. I've used this off an on for years, whenever I'm a little sluggish, or when I have intestinal distress (gas, bloating, cramping, etc.) to relieve the symptoms.

Nutritional Herbs (especially important when you are eating less). Dr Anderson recommends the following to bolster your system's ability to detoxify. It also serves as a vitamin supplement. 1

1.
✓alfalfa,
2.
✓dandelion,
3.
✓shavegrass,
4.
✓chickweed,
5.
✓marshmallow root,
6.
✓yellowdock,
7.
✓rosehips,
8.
✓hawthorn,
9.
✓licorice root,
10.
✓Irish moss, and
11.
✓kelp

He also recommends adding two digestive enzymes: 1

1.
✓amylase (to digest carbohydrates), and
2.
✓cellulase (to digest plant fiber)

Probiotics to fortify your own probiotic colonies. These friendly bacteria perform many beneficial duties including the suppression and elimination of pathogenic microorganisms by producing effective antibiotics, antivirals, and antifungals. They also help restore proper acidity to your intestinal tract. Bifidobacterium infantis is especially helpful. 1
In addition to supplemental probiotics, consider drinking plain, unsweetened kefir.
Electrolytes: The body depends on essential alkaline minerals potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesioum to remove toxins, maintain fluid balance in cells and bloodstream, and control pH, hormone secretion, nerve conduction and other functions. Dr Anderson recommends a drink made from mixing dehydrated juice of beets, celery, carrots, fig powder and lecithin, with liquid goat's milk whey and filtered water or juice. Not sure where to get this. 1
I am currently taking Mineral Balance by Jarrow (from iHerb). It includes Calcium, and phosphorus from milk, potassium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, manganesse, chromium and molybdenum, as well as vitamins D3, K1 and K2, which are needed for proper absorption and assimilation of most minerals.
Antioxidants are important to neutralize free radicals and toxins released by the purging of the intestines. Dr. Anderson recommends the following be taken while doing a colon cleanse1 (this is my version of his recommendations):

1.
✓tincture of milk thistle, turmeric (for curcumin), Ginkgo biloba, grape seed extract, and pine bark extract;
2.
✓CBR vitamin formula: Vitamin C, bioflavonoids and rutin. (I like American Health Ester-C with Bioflavonoids from iHerb);
3.
✓alpha-lipoic acid sustain formula (Jarrow has a good one, from iHerb);
4.
✓coenzyme Q10 supplement;
5.
✓zinc supplement (I like Jarrow's Zinc Balance (from iHerb) because it also contains a small amount of copper needed when supplementing with zinc); and
6.
✓chromium GTF supplement (I like Source Naturals Chromium GTF from iHerb).

Another excellent source of antioxidants is Kombucha Tea (make your own, or available in most natural food stores).

I started detoxing and cleansing in 2007 after being diagnosed with IC (took 2 more years to find out the IC was caused by Lyme & co-bugs). Since then, in addition to taking homeopathic products, doing detox baths, herbs, sauna, and body brushing, I also have changed my diet and my environment.

Using the elimination diet, and getting allergy testing, I've become more aware of foods I need to avoid. I also avoid inflammation-inducing foods. These days I eat mostly a raw food, low carb, organic diet, with some clean protein added. I drink a lot of purified water and lemon water to keep things moving through my body. Of course, no sugar, refined foods, or artificial anything.

It didn't make sense to me to change my diet and to do cleanses and detoxing of my body without also changing how I live. I switched from traditional cleaning products to all-natural ones; the same is true for personal care products. I replaced plastic wherever I could in my kitchen with either stainless steel or glass. I got rid of all teflon pans and I never cook in plastic of any kind. It's gotten to be a way of life to always seek the most natural alternative possible.

It probably sounds extreme, but we had a new HVAC system installed with a high-quality whole-house filter. We put a R/O water-filtration system in the kitchen, and have filters on our showers and tubs. We had synthetic wall-to-wall carpeting torn out and replaced with wood flooring and vegetable-dyed wool area rugs. We got a vacuum cleaner with an efficient hepa filter. As we replace things, we search for the healthiest alternative possible (i.e., natural countertops instead of ones containing formaldehyde, etc.).

I'm still looking for ways to make things less toxic in my life. A last bastion of my former existance - my wardrobe - is currently undergoing a change. I don't buy dry-clean only clothing anymore, and look for natural-fiber replacements when I need to buy something.

It's my hope that the cumulative effect of these changes will be to reduce the toxin load on my body so that I can better fight Lyme and coinfections.

Do not underestimate the power of Detox. And do not expect to see results on treating infections without it. For some of us we have to do a ton more than others. Does not seem fair but it is reality.
So find your own amount and techniques that work for you.

But i have found that when i found the right amount and techniques it change my body and ability to treat this disease and crossed this line over a year ago and i still have that same body change and now I do not have to do near as much detox as before.

I did do it for six or more months straight at 1000 percent effort and time and it was like unclogging clogged drain pipes and they started to flow again and I now just make sure they do not clog back up or build back up and I now have a totally new system and I can not treat without going through so much havic and severe reactions and herxes and pain and all those things I had to endure before.

It literally changed my body forever..

its worth it. Give it your all x 1000. Work your way up to that 1000 but once you get there you will be a new person and you will be amazed at all the changes and in how you can treat this disease in a whole new light.

It is key.! I really believe this.

Keep Sharing and Keep Detoxing

Detox and Cleansing and getting your body to move out toxins on its own if i is stagnant is Number one priority in treating this and any disease.

Do not minimize or discount or leave this piece of the puzzle out.
And do not just do this or that and think its enough. Its the toughest part of the treatment because it takes so much time and effort. When trying to break through a stagnant stuck system it takes a full time effort all day every day and tracking and ramping up of the timing and strength and how many techniques you use.

I think it would be great to formulate an actual protocol. Of course everyone would do it differently as far as how fast or how far they could ramp up.

But to give an idea to new people or those who have not used detox in such a serious manner or for those who think they are and may see how much further they can go and do.

I would recommend starting with one detox modality and using a log and chart you start slow and track your response and then if you herx you treat it like a treatment you would otherwise do and wait for the herx to clear and then go ahead and build up to a good max amount. Here is where I feel we may all not know what that max would be or a good place to shoot for. Each detox treatment kind would have a different max.

So after you have gotten the first modality under your belt and you may do more than one at a time if drinking water or something like that is added in and considered.

Then add a second modality and do the same thing tracking and working up. And add a third and fourth and so on and so forth.

As you max out and stop herxing you can trade one modality for another because different ones hit different things and work in different ways.

Then when you have done all that you will not be herxing and you will be just feeling better and better and better and you will then be able to also handle killing of bugs such as abx or other treatments in a whole new easier more effective manner.

When you add in the killing treatments keep the detox intensity up and you will find you will go so much faster and more effectively.

Then after you are done with a treatment again keep the detox intensity up until thing and toxins from drugs and bugs are detoxed out

If you do this and you feel what your body is doing and what I am speaking of.

For example. When I say Max I will use what I ended up as as an example. I got up to 10 modalities and I was doing something all day long every day and some things were interwoven like diet and water and some were scheduled such as enemas and baths and rebounding etc.

I would put aside 8 hours a day that is just for actual detox modalities that are action based..
Such as baths up to 3 or so a day
Emenas up to 3 or 4 a day
Rebounding before every bath for 1 to 10 minutes or more
And so on and so forth.
For your own detox treatment choices it may look different but I used 8 hours a day as an example to give the idea that this is a full time job and I think that is what is needed to get a life changing and body changing result.

Of course you work up to that.
And you start with one our a day I would say or what your body can handle and that could be one time a week and much less and even minutes a day. Everyone is different.

But I think and believe we all can work up to the same max because we all have close to the same bodies in general and we are capable.

I am sure people have noticed I support and write about this a lot. Just want to give the info and give it a chance for people to try this approach and give it their all.

I ramped up and it took me about 3 months to get to my max and then i was at that max for a good six months and then I did 3 more months after that and after treatments were slowed down too. I did not and was not able to wait that long prior to treatments but I would say give at least 3 months of just detox work if possible and or just some treatment and not intensive and then add in the intensity as your body is ready.

Blessings to all and
Good Health.. clean bodies.. and working organs.. moving energy and detox detox detox..

None of us want toxins to stay in us or build up or cause us more problems and especially when its our own fault if we just keep treating and treating and know we are feeling worse and worse and feel it building up and we have to listen to our bodies.

Go for it.
You will not regret the time and effort and energy
its not instant and it does take months and months but once you achieve the gains you body will take over 10 fold and it will be hard to get back to where you were before. You will unleash the power you already have in you but that is just stuck and stagnant.

Only we each can do this for ourselves. Its subjective and we all are different. But we all can gain the same thing and get to the same place with the same methods. Just a different path.

This I believe ...

I will leave this subject now again.. And I am surprised there is not more of a push for this

I feel sad when I read about all the suffering on treatment and just suffering from the disease and when I see people on protocols that do not have 75 percent detox modality. .. at the least.

Its that important. Whether you have detox issues or not. For those who do you have to work that much more and longer sadly. Its not fair. But the good news is when your dong you will no long be one of those people

I am saying you can change your body forward and you will no longer have the same struggles with it. You can change your body so much that you will not have to work even half as hard after and maybe even 1/4 as hard ... And you do not have to live with the problem forever.

WheN there is something I can change when it comes to this disease I celebrate and I go for it. And this is the biggest change I have accomplished in this disease and in my body and in my life... Its that big to me.

So i hope others really try it and get new feel for detox treatment and planning and implementing.. Be patient and consistent .. >> You may be amazed with the results.

One day i wold love to open a detox clinic and have people come just for detox modalities.. Of course then there is home work and things you have to weave into your daily life and I think it would be amazing and help so many people with so many diseases..

Dont FORGET TO DRINK WATER

Half you body weight in ounces a day.

If you weight 200lbs then drink at least 100 ounces a day.

This is the most important Topic.

Keep this thread alive so that we all remind one another to keep up on the detoxing.

I think that its 75 percent Detox and 25 percent treatment...

And if you dont keep that balance you are just adding to the toxins and to the symptoms without realizing it.

This has been my experience and how I base my opinion.

IF others can add their detox regimens it is a very valuable thing to share for others to read and learn from and get ideas as I keep hearing people ask for ideas and what they can do or try!

Please adds yours here..

THANKS EVERYONE!!

I have been very chemical sensitive and unable to handle most oral detox supplements, so have been successfully detoxing with FIR - far infrared sauna detoxing. Highly recommended for anyone who's got MCS and can handle heat.

I first used a biomat for 6 months, once a week sweating in a sleeping bag on top of it, and after 6 months, suddenly could handle being around smells again, like smoke, bleach, perfume, cologne.

Now I've been detoxing in a FIR sauna tent for the past year and slowing being able to touch more chemicalized surfaces. I do it every couple days and shower off hot and cold after sweating.

My doctor also recommended that I take takesumi activated charcoal as well.

does anyone know if past due date chlorella can hurt you?

I am sensitive to any sulfa/sulfate/sulphur products.

I have been taking Byron White Detox 2 and NT Detox with pretty good results. The clay really helps to bind things.

What should I look for in a foot bath?

I keep hearing about them, but I don't know how they work etc.

I have read that fir infrared saunas are not only good at helping you to detox, but also good at helping to chelate heavy metals. Any feedback on this?

Lpkayak, I would be reluctant to take the chlorella if the date is really old. But if it was just a month or two, I would probably take it. You might try calling the manufacturer and asking.

Since done last posts I replaced my plastic bag enema kit last summer with steel bucket and if starting mixing recipes a must so you can clean it out so much easier and mix right in the lot too. The attachments medical grade and so much better too.
I also feel better not having heated up plastic which who knows what the chemicals that may leach out.

Overall I find the steal bucket best.
Hanging its more of a rig but I have found just the right height
Table or such works perfect or even a door knob if your laying on the floor.
