I just stopped IV abx and am moving forward to the following:
mycobutin bactrim ceftin and or omnicef pulsed flagyl
I wasnt crazy about omnicef so i asked my llmd for ceftin, but i dont really know what I'm doing so would love to hear your preference for the best lyme drug. I know Dr B and Pam W cured their lyme from ceftin.....

My doctor considers them more or less the same, but also mentions some people react better to one than the other.
Downside to Ceftin I hear is that it has a bitter taste... so eat it up fast.
I'll be switching from Omnicef to Ceftin this week, not because it's necessarily better, but because of insurance issues. Being hopeful, maybe it'll work better for me...

Omnicef is considered a later-stage cephalasporin, so might be thought to be a better choice, but perhaps everyone's body reacts differently. Personally, I get better results from omnicef (when used in combo Tx of course).

Depends alot on your dosage. High-dose ceftin (above one gram/day) might be more powerful for reaching neurosymptoms than regular dose (600 mg/day) omnicef.

I had some minor improvement on Omnicef, mostly for head fogginess-sickly head types feelings. Dosage I think is 600mg (whatever 2 caps daily is).
But it didn't do much for the rest of my symptoms.
I was on it as a single med for several months, then my doc wanted to do a test by having me stop and see how I would react. And then I reacted... badly... lots of symptoms came out once I stopped. So, it seems to have been doing something, but I hit a wall regarding symptoms improving. No herx from it either.
Restarted on Omnicef + Doxy last month, and either had a horrible herx, or all my muscles decided to fall apart at the same time -- lots of muscle pain, numbness in hands/feet, fatigue etc. But it's getting better now. I should note I do herx on Doxy, unlike Omnicef, and my Bartonella symptoms (foot pain) gets worse from Doxy too.
I'll see how Doxy + Ceftin works out now. I still have a lot of symptoms, so am hoping it works out better.

lemon my dose is 4 caps pulsed 3 x week.
ive been treating 20 months! i have improved alot. keep going!!!

Started Ceftin yesterday, and it doesn't taste as bad as I thought. It smells horrible and medicine-y, but I just throw it to the back of my throat, trying to keep it off of my tongue, then swallow with water.
Question regarding Ceftin: I do notice that there is no warning against taking it with minerals, like for other antibiotics. Anyone know if it's okay to eat calcium foods, or take a multivitamin at same time?
I probably won't regardless (and can't now, due to Doxy anyway), but was wondering if it mattered with Ceftin.
One plus is that absorption should be increased if taken with most foods (again, not sure about calcium foods), unlike Omnicef, which I think decreased absorption by about 15%.
