Hi all. I had settled into my abx treatment and supplements fairly well, but I began to take olive leaf extract and garlic capsules yesterday for candida and today I have a constant headache. I also started having frequent, urgent bowel movements. I haven't changed my regimen in any other way. Could candida die-off be causing these symptoms? The headache feels similar to the herx that I got when I started abx. Can candida die-off cause a herx? Thanks.

Yes, candida die-off can be pretty severe but, also, garlic is not for everyone.

Be sure to eat enough nutritious food and get good fluids, maybe some green tea, too. A warm (not hot) bath in epson salts should help and a good night's sleep.

Sounds like you started both OLE and garlic on the same day with multiple doses.

You might lay off the garlic and start slowing with the OLE, once a day at first before slowly ramping up and then adding in just one garlic capsule a day until you get a sense of stability. If the garlic seems too much, back off. You just might not be able to metabolize it. Or - introduced more slowly, it may work very well.

I have taken them together and it was fine but I started first with OLE. Even OLE by itself, kept candida totally away when I was on abx for 2 months.

I am a big fan of Olive Leaf and take it daily. I had to pulse it at first because I felt weird.

Garlic is impossible for me, it can create a lyme die-off as well as yeast.

I noticed when I started taking garlic (allicin) capsules lately it increased my bowel movements. I did have (and still do) have a bit of a herx reaction to it including slight headaches.

Also, I sometimes get a little anxiety after I take the garlic capsules. Makes me think the toxins are moving around in my brain, not sure but that's my suspicion.

Can't speak for olive leaf extract because my doctor tested me for it and said I'm allergic to it and to stop taking it. Because of that, I don't take OLE anymore. It's good stuff for most people to take though, just not for me.

Thanks for the responses. I'll keep taking the OLE and see how I feel. If I don't have problems with the OLE by itself then I'll phase the garlic back in.

How are you feeling on the OLE Ian.

I am about to start it.
