I read somewhere on MDJunction (another health board), someone said they did better once they switched to real Bicillin as opposed to Mexican Bicillin.
But I have heard lots of people here say it's just as good....them or their loved one got better on the Mexican Bicillin, etc.
I tend to believe the stories I've heard here, but just to put my mind at ease....it's just as good, right? I'm thinking that one person must have been a fluke scenario.
How much would it be do buy a brand name of the 1.2's, per syringe, in Mexico?
How much for generic? Is generic as good? I have heard it can clog the needle quite frequently. A little worried about that.
We are switching insurance soon, from me having Medicaid to a private company. I am just preparing myself for what we will do if they don't cover my Bicillin. Or is it very common for insurance companies to cover Bicillin for chronic Lymies? Are there any that just refuse to cover it?
We would be selecting our plan soon, so I am under the impression we can select a plan with better drug coverage?
Sorry...lots of questions.

I,too, am wondering about this. We are appealing Medicare's refusal to continue paying for the shots. Since it is the best thing to help me in 20 years of illness, I'm told I have a strong case.
But if not, we plan to go to Mexico, even though travel there is not advised right now.
My last box of 10 shots cost us $530 at the local pharmacy. They gave us a discount of about $100 from before since we had to pay for them.
If I can't get it from Mexico, then I don't know what to do. I am not keen on mixing the powdered stuff from Spain.
Any advice? I will PM you, too, Dave...hope that's ok.

the stuff from Mexico is the same as the powdered stuff from Spain, unfortunately. You should be able to order the Spanish stuff without traveling anywhere. It's actually availaable all over Europe in different brand names, Extencillin is one of them.

Like MariaA said, it's all over the place. Extencillin is a brand name in France and other parts of Europe. It's made by Sanofi-Aventis, which is a huge drug company. Name brand in Mexico is most commonly Benzetacil and it is made by Sandoz, another huge international drug company. I work in BC, Canada and most of our drugs here in our Ambulance Service are Sandoz.
Don't believe George W...meds do work when purchased outside of the USA.
American Benzathine Penicillin holds no special powers over Benzathine Penicillin in the rest of the world.

Thank you!
David, I'll PM you soon.
So no one else makes it in pre-filled syringes? Wow, surprised by that.
