I posted below about feeling better and got some responses that indicate it might not be the med, which worries me.
For the past yr I have been on amox, biaxin and Plaq. When i began the amox and biaxin, I felt better within a week or two.
felt good for months until nov when all symtpoms returned.
Added plaq, and felt a little bit better then got worse and worse.
This past month I felt consistantly worse and was bedridden for alomst a month with severe depression, neuro symptoms and anxiety.
I went off amox and biaxin and added 250 mgs of zith for 6 days- no improvement.
Added the full dose of 500 mgs 4 days ago and have had 4 great days.
To me, it would seem that the med is working for the Bart.
Do you agree?

I also have been taking 50,000ius of Vit D for a deficiency (4) the past 6 weeks.

as well as 5,000 per day and did stop taking the daily last week.
I would think it makes more sense the Bart is being targeted by the 10 days of Zith than the Vit D causing issues that now have gone away.
I also remember not taking the D a few weeks back and it didnt seem to make any difference..

did you stop the vitamin d? i am so glad that you are feeling better!

Well i took the 50,000 IUS last tuesday and then stopped taking the daily 5,000 sometime last week.
I just cant imagine the Vit D causing horrible depression, neuro symptoms that go away once I stop it, rather than the Bart being targeted by the Zith.

vit d can cause havoc.
it is very powerful, especially in pill form.

Is the only medications or supplements you have taken in the past couple months these few antibiotics and vitamin D? Have there been changes in diet or other patterns? It may or may not be the vitamin D, it may be something else that is in the pills or capsules. Were you taking something for the depression? for pain? to help you sleep?

Based on my experience, I agree with you. I felt better within a few days when I started taking zith or biaxin.
I don't know which coinfection it helped, but it worked quickly and well.

Escape- No nothing other than the D, xanax which I have been on for over a yr with no issues.
I did try 1/4 malarone and 100mgs of Art for a few days but the same symptoms stayed during the time i tried them and went off them, so i concluded it wasnt the pills causing a herx, since the symptoms stayed after i was off them for a while.
No i havent had any dietary changes either..

Are you still taking the Xanax? Or did you change the dosage of the Xanax in the past several months? Why are you taking Xanax?
Posted by laurisabelle222 (Member # 16591) on :
for anxiety- I did change the dosage from 1/4 .25 pill once a day to 2-3 times per day AFTER I got my anxiety symptoms. My doc said its too low of a dose to have caused a problem.
Im looking at Vit D toxicity as a possibility. I just posted about it.. that I've been on 50,000 IUs once per week plus 5000 once per day.
Do you think that could cause hypercalcemia??
Now Im all worried.. lol

and yes im still taking xanax and just as much over the last 4 days and feel good. So i dont think its the xanax

Laurisabelle - I respectfully disagree with your doctor.
Why do you think you have Lyme disease? What were you taking for anxiety before the Xanax? Have you ever researched Xanax or benzodiazepine use and withdrawal? It is all the same symtoms and more as tick borne diseases.
Please do not interpret this as a suggestion to stop taking the Xanax abruptly or even slowly, until you research it VERY carefully and get a support system in place.

I've had a positive test for lyme disease. I started xanax after I got infected.
thank you for your opinion. I appreciate it.
