My doctor is having me tested for lyme through LabCorp Western Blot. I made sure to ask if she is ordering the Western Blot and not the Elisa. She reassured me that she is ordering the WB. She said if I have it then it will most likely show up on this test. I asked her about Igenex and she said that if this test comes back negative, then we can re-test with Igenex. I guess my question is has anyone tested positive for lyme thru LabCorp WB??? The anxiety of waiting is so frustrating and now I'm wishing I should have insisted on the Igenex test from the beginning? I won't get my results back for about 2 weeks. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated!

I tested positive through LapCorp twice. Others have tested positive as well.
If you receive a negative LapCorp test, you can always followup with Igenex. I would ask for a copy of the test results. Do you know how long ago you were bitten? The Western Blot measures antibodies.

I'm not sure when I was bitten. I'm always prone to getting bit by fleas, mosquitos, or any insect outside. I literally cannot be outside for long periods because I will be attacked by all kinds of insects. But the only UNUSUAL insect bite I can recall was back in December 2007 (a little over 2 yrs ago) I remember it because it was purple-ish looking and didn't go away for almost 3 weeks which was very different compared to other times I've been bitten by insects.

My labcorp western blot only showed band 41.
My Igenex western blot showed more positive and IND bands, even though it was officially negative. It gave me clues with positive and IND lyme specific bands.
Labcorp also does not test for all bands. They only test for 3 IgM bands instead of 10.

She's right.. if it comes back negative, then go to Igenex for testing of ALL possible bands.
We've had a few people here with positive LabCorp tests.
That purple-ish thing could have been a form of a bullseye rash.

My LLMD, who is quite well known in ILADS circles, uses Lab Corp for regular blood work but insists on Igenex for Lyme testing. He also sends C3 and C4 tests to Jewish Hospital in Denver for testing inflammation levels.
My only positive results came from PCR tests. But I have been sick for many years.

I agree on the rash thingy. I never had a bulleye,
but I did have a strange rash on my neck. I do believe they can be very variable. If it comes back
neg. don't give up. I would also go with Igenex, maybe after a challenge would help. I have read
this one guy had 5 before he finally got a response, so if you are seeing a LLMD he could just treat.

I tested CDC positive on my first western blot through Labcorp- It was even before I was on any meds. I also probably have had this disease for over 20 years-plus babs, and bart.
Good Luck!
