I am currently on 2 weeks of Flagyl 250mg 3x a day (750mg total) and then pulse that with 2 weeks of Ceftin 1000mg 2x a day (2000mg total). Is that enough?
I have already been on Doxy, Amoxicillin, Bactrim (which I had a reaction to so I had to stop it), and Ceftin with Biaxin with Planequil.

My LLMD's suggested starting with 1/4 pill and working my way up slowly. Also, make sure you have the Brand name Flagyl, and not the generic. Less side effects I hear. Sounds like you on super doses of both meds. How are you doing on them?

Thank you so much for confirming how I feel in regards to the brand name. I had read that on another board but wasn't sure if that was true or not.
I am currently on the generic and think I am losing my mind. The aniexty and chest pain is more often now than on any other abx. And the head fog and not being able to sleep and also some itching below which is different from a yeast itch. Sorry for the TMI.
I only have 3 more days on the Flagly then I switch to the Ceftin. I had to go off abx for a month and half because of yeast issues.
I still had constant upper and lower back pain and taking the Flagyl didn't help it yet.
I got the burning feeling in my back like I did in the beginning and lack of concentration. But that could be partly because I cant sleep at night.
So far I am not a fan of Flagyl. If its working, then fine but I don't feel any better. And if the Ceftin Flagyl combo don't work then next it Bicillin shots pulsed with Flagyl.
The best I felt was when I was on the Doryx and the Ceftin/Biaxin/Plaq combo.

Tindamax is a second generation version of Flagyl with fewer side effects. You might ask your doc if you can try it instead. My doc had me on 500mg/day if I recall correctly.
My doc also used Cefzil instead of Ceftin.

Sorry to hear of your bad time with generic Flagyl. I've tried Tindamax, too, which is a favorite of many, but the depression and side effects were worse than the brand name Flagyl for me. Everybody is different. I like the Ceftin better than the Omnicef. Doxycycline was good, too/
Good luck.

A pharmacist told me that my brown urine was not the Flagyl, but nearly everyone I have talked to who has taken Flagyl got that....so if you see wierd colored urine, that may be it. I sure would have appreciated the warning before my MD did 2 urine cultures trying to figure out what was wrong with me, so thought I would alert you!

I'm taking 500mg of flagyl three times a day for one week every month. It's been a rough ride.
