I just got my Western Blot results in yesterday. My doc says I don't have lyme (I guess she says that based on CDC criteria), but wants to re-test me thru Igenex just to confirm. I had two bands "abnormal":

IgG P39 ab------Present Abnormal

IgM P23 ab------Present Abnormal

The remainder of the bands, including IgG & IgM band 41, state "absent" so I guess that means negative. Any input is greatly appreciated!

I'm a really confused because alot of research I have done states that band 23 is lyme specific. So is it Lyme??????????

Yes, band 23 is lyme-specific as I understand it.

Please note: you could also not have lyme according to Igenex criteria.

It does not mean you do not have it.

Read here as to why Lyme is a clinical diagnosis(IOW--not ruled out by any test in existence).

Read "the need for clinical judgment in the diagnosis & Treatment of lyme disease" here.

Its an abstract but a link to the full article is provided.

Please read the Western Blot info on page 7 of Dr B's paper.....he says that band 23 and 39 are lyme specific......

If you have lyme symptoms you should see a LLMD. You can post on the Seeking a Doctor Board to find one.

You Dr will tell you that you don't have lyme based on that lab test, but it is wrong to rule out lyme with a lab test.

Lyme is a clinical diagnosis based on history and symptoms, and testing is flawed.

The lyme symptom list is on page 9-11 of the above paper.

Keep reading and posting.
