I spoke to my Doc and he confirmed that it was not side effects and that it sounded like a herx, which made me very happy.

The flu like symptoms happened after what i call an episode, where it feels like a panic attack with something pumping through my veins. It lasts about an hour and gets better with water and time.

After my first episode while on rifampin, I had flu symptoms for 24 hrs but then they went away. I havent had another episode and assume when I do, the same thing will happen.

Im thinking these episodes are the actual growth cycles and that is why the flu symptoms happened.

Does that make sense?

At first I thought herxes happened and stayed consistant for a few weeks, but this is more like something dying everytime i have an episode...

You are lucky. It can be different with everyone, every time, every drug.

Rather than "actual growth cycles" it is actually from the killing of the spirochetes that emit even more toxins as they die. Then there is the debris from toxins and dead spirochetal material that overwhelms the body.

I understand what your saying, that the toxins that are released from the killing of the spirochetes that cause the herximer.

What's weird is the episode that happened before the flu like symptoms is exactly like the one that happened often (before going on the new meds).

So I guess Im wondering why the herx happened after one of these episodes..

My herxes rarely last more than one day. They are fierce (sometimes not) and I usually have my wits about me enough to get in the sauna, do a coffee enema or take an epsom salt bath.

I have only had one herx for certain. I hurt too much everywhere to get out of bed for 3 days, and then I felt extra achy, fatigued and sick for the next week, and then I was back to "normal."

Two other times I have started new drugs, expecting a herx, but haven't had an obvious one, though there might have been a slight worsening of my symptoms.

Your episode or panic attack sounds like one of your symptoms, and a herx often causes your symptoms to flare or get worse, so it's no surprise that a symptom you had experienced before showed up just when you were herxing.
