I recently took 2 tsp mepron for 20 days straight before a hard herx. Dr. pulled me off for 6-weeks and wants to start up again but slowly. starting w/ 1tsp first week and then increase by 1/2's till I reach 2.
I just took my first dose yesterday 1 tsp and less than 24 hours I feel irritiable, head pressure and just crapy. I'm thinking that 1tsp is still to much. Has anyone started at a lower dose working their way up? I don't like how I feel today and am concered about irritiabilty, and head ache/pressure. I have NO PATIENCE.....and i have young kids...so i'm trying to balance this carefully!

It's always tough when you have to balance treatment with responsibilities, but I would coach patience. I had somewhat the same experience on Mepron with the irritability and head pressure, but it improved fairly quickly. Give it another few days.

Is the dosage 1 tsp/day or 1 tsp 2x/day?

Jenn....funny you should post this....I was on mepron since Feb but levels were so low in my system my Dr increased the dose in March...also started Bactrim.....

3 weeks in my fatigue is awful but headaches are terrible.....right back to where they were at the beginning of all this........continually taking headache meds......

Can a herx take that long to take effect......it seems around the same time we both feel the same.......

I also wonder is headache/pressure a typical symptom of babs herx???

Hope your feeling a little better........

I have done 3 months of mepron/biaxin so far and will start my 4th next week. I usually get a week off between cycles.

The mepron has upped my aggitation and anxiety levels and I have begun to experience crying jags and the blues. Even being off for 1 1/2 weeks I'm just starting to come out of it.

I know that we are hitting the babs hard and that I need to continue treatment for more months. I have had some symptoms get better and others almost disappear. I know it is doing something.

My llmd is monitoring the symptoms and my lab results to see how long to treat.

While I don't want to go through this, I think this med is necessary. I am currently thinking of taking an antidepressant to get me through the next few months. One that covers the anxiety and depression.

Don't know if this helps, but many have gone before us and come out feeling better on the other side. I hope things get better for you soon.
