Okay, so I was in the grocery store this afternoon and felt like a panic attack was coming on--short of breath, tight chest....
I just tried to push through it like always.
Then the next thing, I reached for something on a shelf and got shocked--just static electricity, you know?
Lo and behold, my symptoms started abating.
I got shocked a few more times while I was there (pretty dry here right now), and by the time I left the store, I wasn't feeling any panic issues.
WTH? I know it's most likely just coincidence, but can anyone explain why that might have helped?
Gee, should I go around trying to get shocked the next time I get panicky?

Coincidence. It took your mind off the anxiety.

Well, it's not really coincidence if it took your mind off the anxiety. It still had a positive psychological effect. Tough to replicate though. Posted by kday (Member # 22234) on :
I've watched something before. I believe the subject was Native Americans and their spiritualism.
But anyway, they would take someone that's having an anxiety/panic attack, and throw them in the river. It changes their focus, and they're usually ok after they get out of the river.
I think the static shocks was giving your nervous system something "real" to worry about instead of worrying about the anxiety. It just changed your focus, and it happened to be in your favor.

Those crazy EM Fields.
I think you produced a immune response,
and in my opinion any immune response is a good
thing in Lyme.
I think that's why so many people say bee stings
make them better. It may not be so much the
chemical reaction as the freeing up of antibodies
that attack and destroy. They get woke up!

Well, bee stings wouldn't work for me, as I'm allergic, lol.
Throwing me in a river would probably also be bad--I can't swim.
Guess I'll just take to dragging my feet on the carpet and shocking myself....

Maybe its like electric shock therapy they use to give in mental hospitals for depression?? I work around low voltage phone lines and at ring voltage, 90v, I bust out laughing as I jump. Also, during my nerve study I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing even thou it hurt.

OK JJG, keep Scarlet away from the electric fence. LOL I wondered about that a long time ago.
I wonder if a TENS unit would have the same effect in the healing process?
