I've realized that I need to pay about 1/3 of it with my insurance. It's a bit out of my budget.
What do other people pay? Does your insurance cover it?
Thanks

Luckily I pay less than 1/5 of it with my insurance. I wouldn't be able to handle much more than that. My friend who has done extensive lab work says that the process for making the drug is pretty simple. I don't know why it's so expensive.

Thanks for the reply Ian. My insurance has always been top notch. It looks like my meds are being covered differently than last year. I pay 1/3 of the price.
Just my luck that this is the one medicine that seems to be helping. I have tried Malarone which doesn't seem to have the same effect. The Malarone is also quite expensive.
Anyone else. What is the going rate for Mepron?

I pay $100 co-pay for Mepron. But, what I did that might help you, is had the script written for a three months supply, and state to take as needed. (Can't say three months supply, just has to state the total quantity)
This was a tip the pharmacy said would get it approved, and it worked. Only had to pay $100 for three months worth of Mepron (12 bottles).
Did the same for Tindamax. Practically took a wheelbarrow to get the bottles out of CVS!

We pay a $40 co-pay for Mepron, but we have a cap of $2000 per Rx. Our doc wants us to take 2 tsp 2x/day, which would go over the $2000. (They don't call it "liquid gold" for nothing.)
She makes up the difference by prescribing the regular dose of Mepron (1 tsp 2x/day) plus Malarone 2-3 tabs 2x/day. Malarone is part Atovaquone (Mepron) plus one other drug which I can't remember right now.
