Years ago I went on vacation to Florida. While on the beach (Daytona Beach), I remember being bitten by little sand fleas or some type of small biting insect. When I returned home, I had a big bite or pus filled bump on my arm. My whole arm swelled up and it was painful. My doctor thought it was a spider bite. Later I had a few more of these on my body and my doctor thought I may have a staph infection. They were all big pussy painful bumps. This was years ago but I wondered if this could be related to Lyme. Any idea?

From what I have heard and read, anything is possible.
I have a hard time believing that only deer ticks carry Lyme and coinfections, so it is at least conceivable that you could have picked up some kind of infection from those whatever they were bugs.
Just my two cents...

MRSA skin infections are frequently misdiagnosed as spider bites. Good doctors know this by now.
Though 5-6yrs ago community acquired MRSA was unheard of, now it is a common occurance. I've read that approx 80% of the population now carries MRSA on their skin.
