Just diagnosed with babs and on mepron/zith.

Can babs symptoms cause things like pain chest? Not heart but mid chest area? What about chills, headaches?

Also, like lyme can the babs med cause flare in the babs symptoms?

What is the cycle time of babs??

Looking forward to insight.

Those are definitely symptoms I experience with babs along with a lot of other stuff. [Frown]

Also when I am on babs meds....all of my babs symptoms get worse and flare.

Not sure about the cycle time but I'm sure others will chime in [Smile]

Jenny76,
What other things do you experience?

My blood pressure realy goes up and down. What about your heart rate? I read that can be a symptom as well.

Sometimes, don't know which is the lyme and which is the babs.

Chest pain, headaches, and chills are all things I experienced when I started Mepron and Zithromax to treat my Babesia. I also had headaches and chills before starting treatment, which are common Babesia symptoms. My blood pressure has also oscillated, before treatment and during treatment. My heart is often rapid, also probably from Babesia. Babesia kills red blood cells which transport oxygen to various parts of your body which, feasibly, would force the heart to go into overdrive to get blood and oxygen to where it needs to go.

I wouldn't associate chills, generally, to Lyme. A rapid heart rate is also less common with Lyme, unless it happens as a result of endocarditis, and then it will probably be irregular rather than rapid. Lyme can certainly cause headaches and chest pain. But if you are having those symptoms after directly treating Babesia it's more likely that the Babesia is causing them.

I too find that when on Babesia meds my Babesia symptoms get worse. My current theory is that the pathogen becomes more aggressive in response to the treatment and therefore symptoms become more acute. It doesn't feel quite like a herx.

Ian,
thanks for the info.

What about joint pain? My current LLMD equates this with lyme, Any thoughts? Janice

My now famous lyme doc told me babs has a 7-day and 14-day cycle. I experienced it as soon as I started treating babs.

Every Friday evening I got sick until Sunday evening (48 hours of sick time). It was like clock-work. When artimesinin was added to my treatment, the sick time was cut down the first weekend to just 6 hours and it was mild. Then, less and less each weekend.

Here's what Burrascano says about cycle time of babs:

"Symptoms cycle rapidly, with flares every four to six days. (p. 26)

Starting on page 25, Burrascano has a section entitled "Sorting Out the Coinfections." It gives a list of what diseases cause what symptoms. The document is here:

I was seronegative for Lyme, but I still get joint aches. They too often happen after taking my Babesia abx.

Thanks Ian and TF.

This babs treatment is still new to me like lyme was six months or so ago.

BTW,what does seronegative mean?? Thanks. Janice
