I am going back to mino. I am supplementing vitamin a and a carotenoid complex for another condition. I checked on drugs.com drugs interaction checker and it said that mino and vitamin a are contraindicated because of the risk of intracranial hypertension. Does anybody have an opinion on or experience with this risk? I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

- In general, a carotenoid complex is good, but too much synthetic Vitamin A is toxic. I would get all my vitamin A from the carotenoids. It's much better for your body that way than from synthetic vitamins which can actually cause damage (as with synthetic Vitamin E, too).
Your body, especially your liver NEEDS carotenoids and the natural vitamin A they supply.
With mino, as it can be very hard on the ears and liver support helps some with that, the carotenoids can be especially good to help lower porphyrins, often a result of too much toxicity with a liver that is stressed (as from lyme and from treatment).
As you say you need (synthetic?) Vitamin A for another condition, can you use beta carotene (and the full range of the carotenoids) instead? Will the carotenoid complex have enough vitamin A for that other condition?
I'd ask your LLMD about this. If you could see a LL ND (naturopathic doctor), they might also have an answer for you. You might also call a pharmacist. -

Hey Keebler, thanks for the reply.
Your input makes sense to me. I went back and checked my supplement protocol for the other condition. It wants the carotenoid complex but I don't need the synthetic vitamin a. So I will shop for a way to get all my minerals without the high dose vitamin a that came with my multi-vitamin.
