Does anyone know if this should have the same effect as an infrared sauna? I'm going to try one out tomorrow. It was a promotional primarily for weight loss, but I wanted to see if it would help me Lyme-wise.

- It will likely help with circulation and sweat. It would be impossible to get hot enough, deep enough to kill spirochetes but low heat infrared sauna is one of the very best tools to help the body sweat out all sorts of toxins.
The "wrap" may well be good for the warmth and sweating, too.
First, how hot are they going to get you?
You do not want to get too hot. Infrared is supposed to be low-heat, not high, but many push it. Lyme patients can suffer major set-backs from high heat.
You might call and ask about temperature settings - and if they have a link for the equipment you wll be wrapped in, so you can learn more.
How do they clean these wraps? Is it a scent-free, petroleum-free eco-safe cleaner?
Is their environment scent free? Or, if they have aroma therapy, is that from essential oils only, not petroleum based synthetics ? Likely, they've thought about all this but if their main promotion is weight loss, probably not.
I also have concerns with their emphasis on weight loss that they may not promote rehydration as completely as needed. Be sure you get hydrated, with minerals and electrolytes, too. Any weight lost immediately would be from sweating and that should be replaced immediately with water.
However, if they educate about the need to sweat to establish a detox routine that, over time, would help with weight loss, that is different.
After all this homework, I hope it turns out to be a nurturing, relaxing experience. -

Thank you, Keebler. These are all very salient questions that I had not considered. I think I'll print this post and take it with me so I can ask before I do it.

Hey there, Infrared Sauna, to my knowledge, is to help detox rather than "treat" Lyme as detoxing is a big componet to getting well.
Check out Sunlight and the Solo system its radiant infrared different from the "blanket" system. I have a far infrared blanket that I use for pain reduction and it really helps!! also Light therapy is great for deep heat and pain releif too. Hope your treatment was good and good luck in your quest keep us posted!!
