Found out a couple years ago that I had this and it keeps coming back. Been through all of the tests through URL doctor. Even saw infectious dis. dr. at Johns Hopkins for over an hour and he never called me back with a "Plan" like he said he would!! I never brought up to check for Lyme! I was feeling pretty good at the time.

My strep levels seem to go up and down as well. Just when I think they have it under control, it spikes again. I think it's common in lyme patients, for whatever reason.

The one time I was tested for strep, the doctor assured me I wouldn't be positive, but I did test positive for active infection. Sigh.

I think maybe it just goes along with the territory, like Starfall said.

An ID doctor not following through?!?!? Unheard of! (eye roll)

Forgot to say that my urine is always positive for the GBS and usually trace or more of B. Told GYN but they never checked to see if it was elevated. It is normal to have some in GI tract and vag.

I tested positive for systemic strep at my first LLMD visit.

Since he tested me for it, I assumed it was commonly seen in lyme patients.

I had this a year ago- was told "it doesnt usually cause symptoms and is transient." Well three labs cultured it and continued to culture it for about 3 MONTHS. My GYN orginally thought I had yeast infection and Rx antifungal(which just made the flora even more imbalanced) and I HAD symptoms from The GBS..

After abx didnt work for me and made symptoms much worse I took Cats claw.. and started to feel somewhat better.. (my strain was shown to be suseptable to Catsclaw)

Are you having symptoms?

Thanks everyone for your posts. I guess systemic GBS is connected to the Lyme, IMO, in non-preg adults. They always say that there is an underlying reason for it and I couldn't figure it out. Most people with it have diabetes, cancer.

GBS makes me feel nauseous, I have a hard time urinating (need to set awhile first) and just not a well-being feeling, don't know how to describe it. No other usual symptoms like itching, or burning etc, although my c-section scar itched tremendously over the winter?! I'm a puzzle for sure!!! I've read somewhere that Grapefruit Seed Extract is good for both GBS and Lyme and have started to take it.
