Hi, I know many of you are smarter than my Drs. when it comes to Lyme and associated infections. I have Coxsackie B really badly now and it is in my heart and has my spleen swollen. When I take Motrin for pain relief, I get a low grade fever and wipe out for hours. Could this be because the Cox 2 inhibition and that is does something with my immune system response. I remember reading something about PE 2 Cox inhibition but I can't remember the details.
I know one of you will have the answer and I wonder if Motrin could act as an antiviral???
Anyone?
Thanks, Truesun

I'll leave those smart in matters of the COX and immune system to answer your main questions. However, adverse symptoms could be from kidney stress. MOTRIN tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen.

Ibuprofen can be hard on the kidneys. If that is what is going on, increased toxicity can raise body temperature.

(Unfortunately, acetaminophen is hard on the liver and on the ears -- and NSAIDS can really rip up the stomach.)

Curcumin/Turmeric may offer pain relief. In some reports, it equals that of either ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Cordydalis is also a consideration for help with pain relief.

TURMERIC ROOT (Curcuma longa)

WHAT IT DOES: Turmeric root is bitter in taste and warming in action. It strongly reduces inflammation and mucus in all parts of the body, protects the liver, lungs and intestines . . . .

This is an excellent formula, intended for use before going to bed (follow instructions and caution with driving until you get used to it. Do not mix with sedative or alcohol).

This is also part of a lyme protocol.

See #28 - HerbSom

Ingredients; Corydalis root, jujube seeds and Schisandra fruit.

Jujube is also called zizyphus. Schisandra is also spelled schizandra. Both can be searched at PubMed and at The One Earth Herbal Sourcebook ( http://oneearthherbs.squarespace.com )

Schisandra in this formula is very helpful for the liver. JuJube is calming.

As corydalis makes me sleepy, I reserve it for night when needed. I can use curcumin day and/or night. They can be used together.

For info on enterovirus see: www.enterovirusfoundation.org (Coxsackie B is an enterovirus).

I have used oxymatrine to beat it back, and it has worked. My story is here:

I haven't posted the latest update, for I'm waiting until I see my doctor this week...then I'll post.

Best, Timaca
