My son has now had 3 UTI screenings and all are negative.
He has to urinate a lot throughout the day.
He wakes up every night to urinate as well so his sleep is very much disturbed.
He is experiencing pain at the beginning of going and says he feels a lot of pressure like he can't go.
He drinks a lot of water and I have him on milk thistle. He is not currently on any abx.
He also says it doesn't hurt every time he goes but more often than not.
This morning he said he has bladder pain.
Have any of the male lymies experienced this at all?
Any advice is appreciated.

Waking up at night may be adrenal fatigue. The adrenal is putting out to little aldosterone and the rhythm is out of sync with normal sleep/wake cycles. For me taking licorice tea 1-2 hours before bedtime helped me sleep longer without getting up to pee. Licorice assists the adrenal by slowing the breakdown of aldosterone. Get permission from your LLMD or PCP and be sure to get sodium and potassium blood test occasionally and check b/p occasionally too as aldosterone (and licorice) can affect these. The tea works better than the candy but I discovered the benefit of licorice when I was at Trader Joe's and I tried some of the Scotty Dog licorice and it happened to be the evening. That night I slept 4 hours straight thru for the first time in 6 or seven months. Of course folks with Lyme should avoid sugar, so I moved on to the tea. (Alvita brand). I started it in January and have continued 1 cup each evening and it continues to help with this. My b/p remained normal and my sodium and potassium did too ( though my sodium did move to upper end of normal range).

In the beginning, my daughter had some burning and urgency. Always felt like she had to go even after voiding.
Lyme and Bart treatment has improved some of this. She still has the urine frequency. She also gets flares and the UTI tests always come back neg. Seems like we test at least once a month.
Early on, she did test positive for UTI, but it was only found when it was cultured.
I hope he feels better. Her LLMD says Lyme loves the bladder.
Could also be yeast related.

Bartonella is very commonly associated with what does not test as a UTI but feels like one. Before treating it I had the have to go feeling a lot, getting up several times every night. I also had pain in my bladder and irritation exactly like an infection. I also tested negative for a UTI. Lyme and bart like the bladder.
Does your son have other symptoms related to either lyme or bart? With bartonella some of the other symptoms you may have are headaches, hot flashes, pain in the shins or feet and depersonalization, anxiety, depression and irritation.

He has Lyme and we suspect Bart. He is currently having eye pain, headaches, super high anxiety, depression and he's irritable.
He also feels like he has to go again right after urinating.
May I ask what you are all taking for this?

I just called to make an appt with a Urologist for him and the nurse said its very common (not LLMD nor did I mention Lyme). That its from scar tissue and requires surgery to fix!!????

Our daughter Has Lyme and Bart, etc.
She had eye pain, headaches, bad anxiety, depression, MOODY, many other symptoms.Along with the urinary symptoms. Two urologists did not help us. Many tests---URH!!!
Minocyline and Rifampin helped alot.

My daughter has had urinary problems in the past.
There has never been a positive UTI test.
She doesn't have the frequent urination, but would feel like she had to go again, right after she went. Sometimes she would then sit there, trying to go, for a couple of hours! There was some pain involved, too.
One LLMD told us that Lyme loves the bladder. Another one has bladder irritability on his checklist of symptoms.
We have not done anything special for this symptom but have continued to treat mostly Lyme. She hasn't had this symptom since around Thanksgiving. She's taken doxy and tindimax since then, along with lots of supplements.
Except for the eye pain, my daughter's symptoms are similar to your son's.

Parasites and worms could be the underlying problem since this is an unrecognized co-infection of Lyme.
I felt tiny parasites exiting my urethra when i finally treated for parasites because they can be found in the bladder. Parasites can be very common in children as well especially if they have been around animals.

If they do not find a bug they call it IC interstit...cystitis and this means it is a bug they do not know. Most of the time it is chlamydia pneumonia or lyme. Can be congenital. For IC read on cpn help.org or post there.
But I also think it could be something else. Probably read about D-mannose if it is allowed for a child.

Try some D-Mannose, helps bladder issues big time. Have the urine cultured.

I have found that particularly Biaxin can cause signs similar to UTI if I don't drink enough water throughout the day.
Make sure if he is on abx he is drinking enough water. I'd also consider a urine culture.

This isn't weird. I have had ongoing problems for years. The cystitis comes and goes. Sometimes a urine might show low WBC esterase, but cultures are always negative.
I have a suggestion ... ask your LLMD to order a comprehensive parasitology test from Genova Diagnostics ($149 is what mine was).
They have experience identifying parasites. Mine turned out to be e histolytica, a VERY common parasite. I'm quite sure this is at the root of my problem.
Also, today I did some reading on citrobacter freundii, which is normally found in the intestine but in my case was overgrown. Even normal flora can become disrupted and less desirable bacteria/flora overgrow for many reasons. Antibiotics could do it, too. Citrobacter can invade the urinary tract and cause infection. It is usually more of a problem in hospitalizations and can infect wounds, IV lines, etc.
An intestinal bacterial report also comes with the comp parasitology from Genova.

I had that and I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis (IC). Was dx with that before I knew I had Lyme. It went away after treating with abx for several months after getting my Lyme dx. Can't say which abx b/c can't remember exactly which point in time it went away.
I also have Mycoplasma Pneumoniae, C.Pneumoniae, suspected Babesia and Bartonella, Epstein-Barr Virus, Klebsiella, Candida. So, it can be any one of those things causing the IC. I don't know how long he's been treating but it's my guess that it will eventually go away with antibiotic treatment. Hope he feels better soon.

momintexas... My 10 year old grandson went to childrens out patient er a couple of Sundays ago
with the complaints of burning and bladder pain, he doesn't have lyme but the Er dr. said... Boys rarely get bladder infections and they tested his urin and of course neg.
They said they have been seeing alot of boys with the same problem certain times of the year and are pretty sure it's pollen be ingested and aggravating the membrane. Drink lots of water we were told. He is better... does come and go.

I suspect it's a Lyme related thing because he never had this problem prior to Lyme.
And it's been going on ever since we started treatment (6 months).
He's back on abx now so I guess we will see what happens.
I also think yeast may be a part of it also......

I was going to say yeast as well...
It could be muscle related... the pelvic floor muscles can cause similar symptoms.
