does anyone understand this?

There are several small focal regions of abnormal high signal intensity on the fast spin-

echo and fast FLAIR T2-weighted sequenes localized predominantly to the subcortical white

matter of the corona radiate. These foci do not demonstrate mass-effect or restricted

diffusion. These are new compared to one I had in 2004. These are nonspecific findings which

may be seen in the settling of small vessel ischemic processes including vasculitis,

infectious/inflammatory processes including Lyme's disease, demyelinating processes

including multiple sclerosis or represent the sequelae of chronic migrain headaches or remote

trauma. I also have a 6mm cyst unchanged since the last 2004 one.

Findings
Nonspecific subcortical T2 hyperintensities

within the supratentorial compartment. These are more readily apparent or new since my 2004

mri.

In English please? Thanks if anyone can help.

What this means is that you have brain lesions from the lyme and tickborne infections. I think these go away in about 50 % of patients after successful treatment. You may also see these referred to as bright white spots.

The report you got is very thorough -- lists most of the possible causes of these lesions. One other cause I have heard of that is not listed is celiac disease.

Hubby has had about 8 or 10 MRI's since he got sick in 2001. Most of his reports are like yours -- he hates the word "several". He did have one report redone and asked them to give more details about the size and location of his lesions. He has either 4 or 5 I think.

A SPECT scan would also show the same lesions and most likely additional smaller ones.

This report means that you need to be sure the antibiotics you take are ones which can cross the blood brain barrier.

How can you tell the differnece between this and MS?

MS is caused by something. Until you find that

something it is just a syndrome of unknown origin.
